Lois Bates
Lois Ann (Behrens) Bates died March 13, 2007, at the age of 68. Born in Saginaw on May 1,
1938, the daughter of Harold C. and Helen M. (Langschwager) Behrens. She graduated from
Arthur Hill High School in 1956, was a bookkeeper for Vaughan Seed Company in Ovid for
many years, a meticulous homemaker and an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for
over 42 years. Lois loved books, jewelry, music boxes, Hummel figurines, mysteries, her
swing and tending to her rose garden. Lois married J.D. Bates in Saginaw on June 20, 1959
and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2007.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Eufemia) Bates of St. Petersburg, FL, Scott
(Brenda) Bates of Ovid and Billie Rae (Keith) Newland of Atlanta, Georgia, grandchildren,
Christian and Veronica Bates and sister, Charlotte Reinke of Saginaw. In addition to J.D.,
she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 16, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church,
2510 N. M-52, Owosso, burial at Ridge Road Cemetery with Pastor Jim Weist officiating. The
family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Houghton

LeVona J. Conklin, of
rural Elsie, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the age of 74. She was born December 14, 1932
in Grand Ledge, MI the daughter of Ora E. and Florence M. (Brown) Wright. LeVona was the
first woman working in skilled trades at General Motors, from where she retired. She
enjoyed playing bingo and working on genealogy.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda (Larry) Howell of Elsie,
Sharon (Dale) VanAcker of East Lansing; two sons, Rick Carlson of Elsie, Carl (Jane)
Carlson of St. Johns; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers Lyle (Mary
Ann) Wright of California and Lavern (Fay) Wright of Lewiston, MI.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, March 16,
2007 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422 with Rev.
Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of donors choice.
Jeffrey Michael Kangas
Jeffrey Michael Kangas,
beloved husband, father, son, brother, and mighty man of God, was called home to be with
the Lord Friday, March 9, 2007. Jeffrey Michael Kangas, age 45, was born October 15, 1961
in L'Anse, Michigan, the son of Charlene (Bentzen) and James Kangas. A graduate of L'Anse
High School, Jeff received his Bachelor of Science in M.I.S. from Central Michigan
University. He owned Jeff M. Kangas State Farm Agency in Hemlock and was a member of
Shield of Faith Church in Shields. Jeff was an avid sportsman and youth coach for his
children's various sports teams. Jeff was a loving husband who was deeply loved by his
wife, Julie, whom he married July 15, 2006.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, six children, Nikki
White, Brianna White, Elizabeth Kangas, Desmond White, Mitchell Kangas and Christian
Kangas; his parents, Charlene and James Kangas, L'Anse; his parents-in-law, Alan and Alice
Thelen, two sisters, Kristen and Rob Kraft, Stacey and Brian Stiebe, and sister-in-law,
Linda Thelen, all of St. Johns; brother-in-law, Tim and Kiersten Thelen, Grand Ledge;
nieces and nephews, Hannah, Lauren, Chelsea, Nathan, Tayler and Michael; uncles and aunts,
Wayne and Chris Kangas, DeWitt and Larry and Jean Kangas, L'Anse; and many beloved cousins
and other relatives.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March
14, 2007 at Shield of Faith Church, 10322 Swan Creek Road, Saginaw. Pastor Weldon Townsend
will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, L'Anse, in the spring. Friends
may call at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road,
Saginaw, on Monday from 5:009:00 p.m.; on Tuesday from 2:009:00 p.m.; and at the church on
Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of
sympathy are asked to consider a trust fund for his six children, which will be
established at LaSalle Bank, or the Shield of Faith Encounters Ministry.

Richard C. Buckmaster, 81, formerly of Mecosta,
retired General Motors Corp. worker, died Saturday. There will be no services.

Lorie L. Munch
Lorie L. Munch died March 9, 2007, at the age of 49.
Born in St. Johns on January 1, 1958, the daughter of Bernard and Adeline (Smith)
Feldpausch. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (John) Garcia and Jamie Munch both of St. Johns,
parents, Bernard and Adeline Feldpausch of St. Johns and grandchildren, Kristina and
Nathan Garcia. Lorie is also survived by her sisters, Brenda (Ike) Berg, Jean (Mark)
Munger, Donna (Korte) St. John, Amy (Rich) Strach and brothers, Dave Feldpausch and Jeff
(Barb) Feldpausch, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in
death by her granparents, Ida and John Smith and Armella and Raymond Feldpausch.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, burial at Eureka Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family
will receive friends 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. Sunday with a Rosary Service at 3 P.M. and
Vigil Service at 7 P.M. at the Osgood Funeral Home. Sympathy may be

Wayne L. Morey age 67 of
Elsie, Michigan died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church Elsie, Michigan on March 10, 2007 at
1:00 PM. Pastor Ralph Parkin will officiate with burial at Fairfield Township Cemetery
Fairfield Twp., Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007 from 6-8 P.M.
and Friday, March 9, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith
Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
Wayne was born in Alma, Michigan on August 4, 1939 the son of Maurice Stace and Mary
Cecelia ( Frappier ) Morey. He resided most of his life in Pontiac Michigan before moving
to the Elsie area in 1958. Wayne married Sheila Brown on May 30, 1964 in Elsie, Michigan.
He retired from Hancor Inc. in Chesaning, MI in 2000. He enjoyed carpentry and gardening.
Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church, Elsie, MI.
He is survived by his wife Sheila Morey of Elsie, MI, 2 sons; Wayne Lee II and Stacey
Morey of Mustang, OK, Mark Maurice and Becky Morey of Perry, MI, 4 grandchildren;
Jennifer, James, Nathan, and Daniel, 2 sisters; Charlyn Carrs of Ponitac, MI, Darlyn
Gardner of Pontiac, MI, and 1 brother Samuel Morey of Pontiac, MI. He is predeceased by
his parents, and 2 brothers.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Elsie Michigan. The family is being served
