John Jack MacLennan
Jack was born November 24, 1942 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan the son of John and Lilian (Wilkinson) MacLennan and resided most of his life in Gratiot and Clinton County, Michigan. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1960. On September 24, 1984 he married Janet Rita Chick in Ithaca, Michigan and they attended the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church. Jack was a carpenter, a true Jack of all trades who loved his family. Jack enjoyed playing cards, he restored old cars and collected model cars, loved to travel, fishing, hunting, and especially teasing his friends and family. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Survivors include his wife, Janet MacLennan of St. Johns, Michigan, 2 daughters, Angela
MacLennan of Ithaca, Michigan, Danylle Gray of New Port Richey, Florida, 2 sons, Cory and
Julianne MacLennan of Perrinton, Michigan, Craig and Kelly Gray of Leslie, Michigan, 4
grandchildren, Caleb, Alissa, Ashley and Camryn, his mother, Lilian MacLennan of Ashley,
Michigan, 2 sisters, Phyllis and Daryl Smith of Ithaca, Michigan, Gloria and Roger Keck of
Ashley, Michigan, 2 brothers, Jim and Josephine MacLennan of Bannister, Michigan, Rick and
Lori MacLennan of Ithaca, Michigan, He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Bob.
Memorials may be made to a fund that will be established for his mothers care. The family
is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
Bill Walter, beloved husband of Alma Waiter (Nee: Muir) of Eastholme Home for the Aged, the late Katherine Walker and the late Emma Parker. Loving father of Barbara Harris (Kris) of Morrice, Michigan; Diane Doyen of McHenry, Illinois; step daughters Donna Mitchell (Ron Burns) of North Bay and Hazel Rowley (Edgar) of Burk's Falls.; cherished grandfather of Kellie Bardouche (Keith), Stephanie DuRocher (Eric), Steven Doyen (Lisa), Greg Doyen, Andrew Mitchell (Stephaine), Glen Phinney (Kim), Lisa Scheuneman (David), Mark Schneider (Jeanette), great grandchildren Brandon, Sydney, Tyrus, Desi, Derick, Devin, Breanna Emily, Cassandra, Lucas, Alexandria and Duncan; dear brother of Margie Defilice of Yardley, Pennsylvania; Dorothy Hamlin (Duane) of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Katherine Gray of Corunna, Michigan; Rose Rabst of Owosso, Michigan; Leonard Walter (Betty) of Harrison, Michigan; Gerald Walter (Flo) of Orlando, Florida and Joan Kebler (Robert) of Owosso, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents Glen and Catherine (Flynn) Walter, son Neil, step son Glen Schneider, sister Lurene, brothers Phillip, Spencer, Neil and James.; fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and his many friends in the area. Funeral Service were conducted at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Sundridge, Ontario on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 with the Reverend Dan Thompson officiating.
He is survived by his sons, Daniel of Mishawaka, IN; Dallas (Teresa) of Lansing; Douglas (Jackie) of DeWitt; Darrell (Maureen) of Mt. Pleasant; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will be missed by all. Donations in lieu of flowers my be made in Carl's name to the Church of The Nazarene in St. Johns. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 23, 2007 at The Church of The Nazerene in St. Johns, with Pastor Timothy Cockroft officiating, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home and Monday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at The Church of The Nazarene.
Mr. Cole, as he was known by so many of his music students and Walter by his friends and peers, was a caring and giving person, especially when it came to music, his joy and love for all his life. He especially enjoyed teaching students from elementary school on up to high school, and it was always about the "kids". He always took pleasure in working with other directors so they could better themselves at a profession he loved and cared about. Throughout his performing career Walter was a tenor saxophonist and played with many Big Bands around this nation. He was involved with the VFW Band of Lansing, MI, a member of the Scottville Clown Band, was director and member of the Gulf Coast Big Band, and played with the Naples, FL Concert and Stage Bands. Walter was a member of the St. Johns Lions Club and was proud to be the Director of the Michigan Lions All State Band for 12 years. Walter was an avid fisherman, and he loved fishing trips with his buddies. He moved to Michigan in 1952 and on June 18, 1955 he married Peggy Race and she preceded him in death April 19, 2004. Island, FL, Caryn (Leonard) Coombs of St. Johns, MI, two sons, Craig of Lansing, MI and
Christopher of Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Heather Nekola, Curtis Shannon and
Kelly Lindley; one great granddaughter, Catherine Marguerite Nekola; step-mother, Kay
Cole; one brother, Kenneth and two sisters, Theresa Wentworth and Dottie Richard. Funeral
Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Keck-Coleman
Funeral Home St. Johns, 989-224-4422 with Rev. Hugh Banninga officiating. The
family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 pm Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the

Johns; six grandchildren, J.D., Jacob, Nicole, Samantha, Danielle, and Taylor; three
sisters, Cora (Tom) Grost and Carol Anne Blair of Lansing, Carmen (John) Bradley of
Greenville, N.C.; one brother, Mark (Linda) Blair of Williamston; foster brother, Frank
(Sally) Boyer of Lansing; many nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Jane Fabiano;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Mary Ann Fabiano, Dick and Kathleen Ghinelli, Chuck Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am
Monday, April 23, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr.
Dwight Ezop and Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy, Pastor as con-celebrants. Rite of Committal will
follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 p.m.
Saturday and 4-8pm Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm officiated by Rev. Fr. Bill Lugger at Keck-Coleman Funeral
