Kenneth W. Wilkie Kenneth W. Wilkie, 51
died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 following a short but valiant battle with cancer. Kenneth was
born May 17, 1956 in Owosso, MI the son of Bernard and Mary Kay (Hodges) Wilkie. He
graduated from Okemos High School and received his Associates Degree from Lansing
Community College. Ken worked for the State of Michigan in the Family Independence Agency
for 10 years and then in the Information and Technology Dept. for 5 years. Being a father
was the main focus of his life. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, home
remodeling, working on cars, and enjoyed camping up north.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashly Wilkie of Lansing,
son, Nathan of Haslett, brother Brian Wilkie of East Lansing, sisters Tina and Scott
Heyser of Orlando, Fl, and Diane and Todd Schneider of Hawthorne, CA, his father, Bernard
and Shirley Wilkie of Sun City, AZ, former wife Linda Carmer of Mason, several nieces and
nephews and many other special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kay
Wilkie and sister Rosemay Joy Wilkie.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman
Funeral Home, St. Johns on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Kathy
Leydorf officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests donations to the Haslett Boy Scout Troop # 97, c/o Haslett Community
Church, 1427 Haslett, Rd., Haslett, MI 48840 or Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital Council,

Eugene A. Wieber
Eugene A. Wieber died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the
age of 80. He was born February 27, 1927 in Lebanon Township, Michigan, the son of William
and Clara (Knoop) Wieber. He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a
retired farmer. He attended Most Holy Trinity Elementary School and graduated from Fowler
High School. Eugene was a private sort of person. He had a great love for music and a
large collection of CD's. He also loved to read the many books that were in his library.
Although lacking in social skills, he was blessed with a fantastic memory of events in the
family, which tended to depend on him for names and dates. He also had a deep personal
faith in Jesus Christ and went to daily Mass when he could. Eugene spent 3 1/2 years in
Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, where he was well cared for. He often longed to come
"home". Now we pray that he has gone home to the Lord.
Eugene is survived by one sister, Romilda Pung of Lansing,
three brothers, Arnold Wieber and Gerald (Doris) Wieber of Fowler, and the Rev. Donald A.
Wieber of Coloma, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eugene was
preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Thelen, Sr. Esther Wieber, O.L.V.N., Sr. Bernita
Wieber, O.P., and Magdalene Armbrustmacher, and one brother, Rev. Elmer Wieber.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, burial at Most
Holy Trinity Cemetery with the Rev. Donald A. Wieber officiating. The family will receive
friends Friday, 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral
Homes, Fowler, with a rosary prayed at 3 p.m. and a vigil service at 8 p.m.

Eileen Marie Beynon
Eileen Marie Beynon, age 80, of
Owosso, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns. The
family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. in
celebration of her life.
Eileen was born in Dearborn Nov. 4, 1927, the daughter of Joseph D. and Lydia Ann
(Waitkavica) Pudnik. She attended school in Charlotte. She was a member of the Memorial
Healthcare Auxiliary and the Shiawassee Arts Council.
She is survived by four sons: Gerald (Judy) Idle of Apopka, Fla., Alan (Pamela) Idle of
Owosso, Brian (Sandy) Idle of Kelso, Wash., and Kevin (Deborah) Idle of Owosso; nine
grandchildren, Aaron, Coren, Andrew, Justin, Cassi and Kourtney, Wade and Jill and David;
also four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and infant twin
daughters.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Shiawassee Humane Society, Shiawassee Arts Council
or charity of donor's choice.
Brad Boling
Brad Boling, age 50, passed away Friday, November 9, 2007
at home. He was born on April 29, 1957, in Lansing, Michigan, son of Robert and Mildred
(Canning) Boling. He married Jill Matter on October 7, 1995. He was retired from General
Motors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed horseback riding and riding his
Harley.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; father, Bob Boling (Tammy
Collins); mother-in-law, Janette Matter; sisters, Brenda (Walter) Hoten and Linda (Pat)
Gallagher; brother, Dan (Melodie) Boling; sister-in-law, Amy (John) Swanchara;
brothers-in-law, Eric and Kurt Black; nieces and nephews, Brooke and Ryan Gallagher,
Ashley and Megan Black, Gunnar Swanchara, Brandon, Chase, and Dylan Boling, Chloe, Halle,
Sydney Anderson, Thomas Hoten; and great-nephew, Wesley. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Millie, and sister, Sandra Boling.
A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, November 16,
2007 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, St. Johns, Michigan. Donations may be
made to Clinton Home Hospice, 110 W. Higham St., St. Johns, Michigan.
Herman W. Schaefer
Herman W. Schaefer died Friday, November 9, 2007 at
the age of 88. Born February 19, 1919 in Bengal Township, Michigan the son of Hardy and
Mary Ann (Lancaster) Schaefer. He retired in 1980 as a Baker from Schafer Bakery in
Lansing after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #851
in Owosso.
Herman is survived by his son, William Schaefer of Lansing, two granddaughters, Shelby and
Lindsey Schaefer and half-brother, George (Betty) Dush of St. Johns. In addition to his
parents, Herman was preceded in death by his infant sister, Dorothy Schaefer.
Hermans wishes were to be cremated and he will be buried in Mt. Rest Cemetery at a

McCrumb
Mary C. McCrumb a longtime Grand Ledge resident passed away November 10, 2007. Mary was
born August 26, 1919 in Westphalia, Michigan to Joseph and Catherine Lenneman. Mary was
very active in St. Michael Parish and was a waitress at Pasquales Restaurant for over
twenty years. She was preceded in death by beloved husband Howard McCrumb and daughter
Deborah McCrumb.
She was the loving mother of Karen (Jerry)
Swathwood of Manistee, Judy (Wayne) Webb of Ohio, Marchelle (Michael) Smith of Holt, Bill
McCrumb of Wisconsin, Lynn (Betty) McCrumb of Lansing, Dennis (Debby) McCrumb and Mark
(Jennifer) McCrumb both of Grand Ledge. 21 grandchildren. 35 great-grandchildren. 1
great-great-granddaughter. Sister of Bertha (William) Davern, Josetta (Howard) Gasper,
Irwin Lenneman and Joseph (Julianne) Lenneman. Also survived by sister-in-law Ilene
Westfall.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday,
November 14, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge with the
Reverend Fr. James Eisele, Celebrant. Interment to follow in North Eagle Cemetery. The
family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at
8:00 p.m. at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Memorial Contributions
may be given to St. Michael Parish School.

Dick Donald Carlson
Richard Dick Donald Carlson passed away
November 9, 2007 at the age of 81. Richard was born on August 4, 1926 in Jackson, the son
of Charles and Lavina (Donley) Carlson. He graduated in 1944 from Michigan Center High
School and worked for Consumers Power Company at the Meter Building, Parnel Rd., for over
30 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked a small farm in the Leslie area before
moving to Barryton, MI. From there Richard moved to Rosewood Adult Foster Care in Ithaca.
Richard is survived by six daughters, Margaret Keesler of Mason, Mary (Howard) Straub of
St. Johns, Marsha Smith of Richmond, MO, Marlene (Dave) Lovette of Leslie, Myra (Milton)
Ruthig of Ithaca and Karen (Joel) VanAndel of Leslie, one son, Kenneth Carlson of Jackson,
26 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one sister, Lauretta Neeley of Leoni Township,
many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Tom,
George and Leo Carlson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Osgood Funeral
Home with Pastor Paul Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8
P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the
charity of the donors choice. The family would like to thank Rosewood Adult Foster
Care in Ithaca, Carson City Hospital, the Laurels of Fulton and Pastor Paul Daniels.
Mary Elnora Welton
Mary Elnora Welton died on November 8, 2007 at Hazel I.
Findlay Country Manor at the age of 100. She was born October 16, 1907 in Almina Township,
MI, the daughter of Jesse Edwin and Elnora (Webb) Woodhams. Mary graduated from Rodney B.
Wilson, Class of 1926. She married Stanley Welton in 1928 in St. Johns and he preceded her
in death on November 15, 1991. Mary taught in several one-room shoolhouses and retired as
St. Johns Public School teacher from East Essex School, a member of the Clinton County
Retired Teachers Association and a member of First Congregational Church.
She is survived by one son, Bruce (Rose) Welton of Elsie, her grandchildren, Brian (Sarah)
Welton of Parma, Brett (Cheryl) Welton and Rosanne (Charles) Harden, both of St. Johns,
Deborah Welton of Texas, Fanette Welton of Virginia, and Greg Welton of Tennessee, and
several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was
preceded in death by her son William Welton, her infant grandson, two sisters and two
brothers.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at the St. Johns Chapel of Osgood Funeral
Homes, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Matt Olson officiating. The family
will receive friends on Sunday, 2-4 p.m. and 6 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to the First Congregational
Church.
Pamela V. Lovegrove
Pamela V. Lovegrove died November 9, 2007, at the age of 42. She was born in North
Carolina on May 18, 1965. Pamela married Douglas Lovegrove in St. Johns on July 9, 1999
and he survives her.
Also surviving are her daughters, Nicole (Phil) and Jamie, step sons, Justin and Jon,
parents-in-law, Marvin and Sue Lovegrove. She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no service or visitation. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials

Mildred Edna ( Loynes )
Conklin age 97 died on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Alabama Oaks Assisted Living, in
Winter Park, Florida. Memorial services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie
Chapel on November 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Paster Edwin Snook officiating. Visitation
will be prior to the services and burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery.
Millie was born on January 11, 1910, in Ovid, Michigan the
daughter of William Ten and Eliza Gertrude (Oberlin) Scarbough. She graduated from Elsie
High School, where she played forward on their winning girls basketball team. She married
Wayne Loynes July 15, 1928 for 36 yrs. until his death. She then married Bernard
Bun Conklin on December 4, 1971 and was married to him for 26 yrs until his
death. Mildred was homemaker and cook at Owosso Memorial Hospital and had resided most of
her life in the Elsie and Carland area. She attended the Methodist Church as a youth and
young adult and was a member of the Home Extension group and a former Girl Scout.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Gaboury, 8
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her 2 husbands, and 2
sons; Jerry Loynes and Basil Loynes.
Memorials may be made to your local Hospice program in her
memory. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
Donna B. Besko
Donna B. Besko age 89 of St. Johns, MI died Wednesday,
November 7, 2007 in St. Johns, MI.
Memorial Services will be held at Grove Bible Church, St. Johns, MI on Saturday, November
10, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Robert Prange will officiate.
Donna was born in Okemos, Michigan on August 8, 1918 the daughter of Bernard and Bernice (
Spaulding ) Scheidt. She resided most of her life in the Ovid and St. Johns areas and
graduated from South Haven High School with the class of 1936. Donna married Henry Besko
on August 7, 1959 in Laingsburg, MI. Donna was the Postmaster at the Ovid Post Office for
many years. Prior to being the Postmaster, she was the first woman city carrier in the
United States. Donna also worked as a clerk and rural carrier. She enjoyed bowling,
spending time at Lake City, and for many years played softball at Lake Odessa. One of her
great loves was spending time with her grandchildren, all 100. Donna was a member of Grove
Bible Church, St. Johns, MI as well as the National League of Postmasters and was a very
active supporter of the Democratic Party.
She is survived by her husband Henry Bekso of St. Johns, MI, 3 sons; Monte and Dorie
Sauers of Lake Odessa, Dennis and Barbara Sauers of Woodland, MI, Dirk and Kay Bekso of
St. Johns, MI, 2 daughters; Toby and Bill Hanson of Wayland, MI, Sonya and Mark Latz of
Elsie, MI, 2 step-daughters; Rita Sodman of Ovid, MI, Teala and John Moon of St. Johns,
MI, step-daughter-in-law Fran Besko of Holt, MI, 4 sisters; Ardene and Vance Lackey,
Marion McVay, Phyllis Lackey, Marvel Bessemer, Perry and Jim Ryder, 1 brother: Roger and
Beverly Scheidt, 28 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 16 great great
grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, first husband Paul Sauers, two brothers,
two sisters, and one step-son, Bill Bekso.
