Robert H. Harr Robert H. Harr, age 58,
loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. He was born
on June 11, 1949 in St. Johns the son of Edwin and Bernita (Thelen) Harr. Bob had a
passion for custom home building and in 1984 he established Looking Glass Inc. He was
preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Schafer.
Surviving are his Wife of 35 years, Darlene Harr of Dewitt;
Daughter, Nicole (Anthony) Toune of Dewitt; Grand Daughter, Avery Toune; Siblings, Gladys
(Henry) Dreps of Dewitt, Doris (Ray) Feldpausch of Lansing, Edna (Jim) Huggett of
Marshall, WI, Ken (Sharon) Harr of Plymouth, MI, Paul (Mary Ann) Harr of Westphalia, Joan
(Larry) Schaefer of Dewitt, Mary (Ron) Simon of Dewitt, Leroy (Sharon) Harr of Dewitt,
Richard (Maureen) Harr of Pewamo; Brother-in-law, John Schafer of Dewitt; Mother and
Father-in-law, Melvin and Dorothea Smith of Westphalia; many nieces, nephews, and family
members.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated by the Rev. Dwight
M. Ezop at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N.
Bridge Street, Dewitt. The family will receive friends at the Catholic Community of St.
Jude on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to MDA ALS Clinical Center at Michigan State University or mdausa.org. Arrangements
are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland Chapel.
Louis Carl Zell
Louis Carl Zell of DeWitt, was born November 3, 1920, in
Fowler and died April 8, 2008, at the age of 87. Louis was a fun-loving, storytelling
farmer who always had time for anyone that needed him. He enjoyed spending time with
family and friends, whether playing cards or dancing with his bride, Virgiline, whom he
had been married to for 67 years. Louis will be fondly remembered for his love of family,
his sense of humor, and the enjoyment from riding his lawnmower around the yard. He was
preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lornez, and sisters, Esther Korte and Irene
Nobis.
Surviving are his wife, Virgiline; daughters, Marie Lonier
of Grand Ledge and Bonnie (Andy) Lange of DeWitt; son, Randy (Debby) Zell of DeWitt; 8
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
There will be no services or visitation. Those desiring may
make contributions to the Mother Theresa House, P. O. Box 13004, Lansing, MI, 48910, in
memory of Louis Zell. The family is being served by the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes,
DeWitt.
LeRoy J. Schafer
LeRoy J. Schafer died April 7, 2008, at the age of
69. He was born in Carson City on January 15, 1939, the son of Leo and Clara (Bauer)
Schafer. He was a retired pressman for the Lansing State Journal, owner and operator of
Millers Tavern for over 20 years and a veteran of the Marines. He was a member of
Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Greenville Eagles, Fowler
Conservation Club, and the American Legion in Hubbardston, life member of the N.R.A., an
avid outdoorsman and houndsman. LeRoy married Patricia L. Frechen in Fowler on October 10,
1962 and she preceded him in death on January 9, 1999.
Surviving is his special friend, Kay Frechen, sons, Michael Schafer of Fowler and Anthony
(Lisa) Schafer of Westphalia, daughters, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Thelen and Kelly (Bruce)
Nurenberg, all of Fowler, brother, Adam (Helen) Schaefer, 9 grandchildren, many nieces and
nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie
Feldpausch, Agnes Thurston and Leona Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Most
Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Thomas
Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Wednesday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 P.M. Tuesday, 3 P.M. Wednesday,
and a vigil service 7 P.M. Wednesday. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials
to the Disabled American Veterans.

Hazel E. Keyes, 91, retired Lansing School District
teacher, died Saturday April 5, 2008.
Private services will be held. Arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St.
Johns.
Rosaline M. Luttig
Rosaline M. Luttig, died
Saturday April 5, 2008. She was born in Bengal Twp. on June 2, 1919 the daughter of
John J. and Theresa (Goerge) Thelen. Rosaline was a homemaker and worked at Fisher Body
during the 1940's in the aircraft division. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic
Church and Christian Mothers Association. Rosaline married Norman J. Luttig on June 2,
1948 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1998.
She is survived by one son, John Luttig of Overland Park, KS, two daughters, Janice
(Samuel) Simmon of Fowler, Jean Luttig of Lansing, two grandchildren, Travis and Lindsay
Simmon, two sisters, Viola Thelen and Joyce (Alfred, Jr.) Halfmann, both of Fowler and one
brother, Alex (Rosemary) Thelen of St. Johns, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her
husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Thelen, one brother, Urban Thelen,
one sister-in-law, Marie Thelen and one brother-in-law, Raymond Luttig.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Most Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard officiating.
Visitation will be 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. on Monday evening at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler.
Mary Krzak
Mary Krzak of DeWitt, age 97, born October 19, 1910 in
Detroit, MI; went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2008. Mary retired with her
husband, Adam Krzak, from the Capri Motel in St. Johns, MI, which they had built, owned
and operated for 16 years. They moved to Redford Township but returned to DeWitt in 1995.
Mary is survived by her son, Ronald (Jean) Krzak of DeWitt;
granddaughter, Sandy Krzak of Lansing; stepgrandsons, Bruce (Kelli) Weaver and Brad
Weaver, all of Minnesota; brother, Walter Rarog of Plymouth, MI; sister-in-law, Emily
Krzak of Palos Hills, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Monday,
April 7, 2008 at the Catholic Community of St. Jude with the Rev. Dwight M. Ezop as
celebrant. The family will receive friends at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E.
Washington, DeWitt on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at
7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rite of Committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
April 8, 2008 in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Warren Rd. and Telegraph Rd., Dearborn Heights, MI.

Ralph H. Safford
Ralph H. Safford,died
Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the age of 89. He was born July 14, 1918 in Ionia County,
Michigan the son of Ralph and Clara (Hawley) Safford. He was a veteran of WWII serving in
the 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, Army Air Corps. Ralph was active in many
Masonic groups. He was a member of Wabon Lodge No. 305 in Mt. Pleasant, Alma-Pathways
Masonic High Twelve Club No. 756, a member of the Valley of Bay City AASR, Alma Chapter
No. 43 RAM, George Hill Council No. 85, R&SM, Ithaca Commandery No. 40, the Scotland
USA Shrine Club at Masonic Pathways and Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple and was Past Patron of
Mt. Pleasant O.E.S. Chapter No. 55. Ralph was a master auto mechanic and worked at several
auto dealerships in Mid-Michigan and retired from Berger Buick in Mt. Pleasant.
Surviving is one daughter, Candice (Robert) Mishler Chapman
of Lansing; one son, Toby (Jennalee) Mishler of Quincy, MI; one stepdaughter, Pamela (Cal)
Baughn of St. Johns; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great great
grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Smith of Grand Ledge; two nieces, Sally (David) McCardle
of Manhattan Beach, CA, Susan (Don) Putman of Gaylord; and special friend, Clara Bradley.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret and a brother-in-law Loren Smith.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April
10, 2008 at the Doig Chapel, Masonic Pathways 1200 Wright Ave. Alma with escort and honor
guard by The Knights Templar conducted by Ithaca Commandery No. 40, Masonic memorial by
Mt. Pleasant Wabon Lodge No. 305. The Alma V.F.W. will provide military honors. In lieu of
flowers memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Pathways. Arrangements and service

Carl Floyd Harmon
Carl Floyd Harmon age 69 of Attica, Michigan formerly of
Bannister, Michigan died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Lapeer Regional Hospital, Lapeer,
Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel St. Johns,
MI on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Kathy Leydorf will officiate with burial
at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6,
2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Carl was born in Monroe, Michigan on November 16, 1938 the son of James and Irene Harmon.
He resided most of his life in Tennessee, Monroe, and Bannister and graduated from
Clairborne County High School in Tennessee with the class of 1958. Carl married Jean M.
Dunaj in 1974 in Detroit, Michigan. She died on February 3, 2002. Carl retired in 1996
from Hansen Oil Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved to play cards and
checkers. Carl really loved his grandkids, and spending time with his family. He was also
a prankster. Carl was a Past Mason.
He is survived by his children; Debbie Edwards of Eastpointe, MI, Dale and Denise Harmon
of Attica, MI, Joann and Thomas Shaulis of St. Johns, MI, Angel and Scott Mendham of St.
Johns, MI, Tammy and Larry Hall of Monroe, MI, Victor and Sue Harmon of Dearborn, MI,
James Harmon of Monroe, MI, Richard Harmon of Monroe, MI, 24 grandchildren, 12 great
grandchildren, 3 sisters; Nancy and Carson Honeycutt of Tennessee, JoEllen Honeycutt of
Tennessee, Edna Alston of Monroe, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, and 1
brother Herbert.
