Get fresh locally raised meat for your freezer and support kids

You can get fresh, locally raised meat for your freezer by purchasing homegrown meats at this year’s 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale. The meats have been raised by local youth who have put their food quality assurance knowledge and animal care techniques to good use to provide the consumer with tasty, high quality meats. Whether you’re interested in pork loin, roast chicken, prime rib, or lamb chops, you can find it at the Fair. This year’s Livestock Sale is scheduled for Wednesday evening, July 30th beginning at 4:00 pm. The sale order will be rabbits, poultry, goats, swine, prospect beef, gallon of milk, beef and sheep. All potential buyers will need to stop in at the Registration Tent to pick up a sale bill and their buyer number. New buyers can register in the tent on the evening of the sale or in advance by calling Claudia Piggott at 989-224-5251.

Making a purchase at the Livestock Sale is also a way for you to support the continued growth and development of young people in our community. Your purchase enables them to continue their participation in the project while learning and practicing problem solving, responsibility and animal health skills. The profits of their market project do things such as help them purchase an animal for next year’s project, build their college fund, save for a car and much more. Supporting the youth livestock sale benefits you, the youth, and the community. Where else can you get more for your dollar?

For more information, contact Sale Coordinator, Gary Hurst (517-651-2085), Extension Educator, Theresa Silm (989-224-5252) or a 4-H or FFA livestock member near you.
