Bottum Ambra E. Bottum, 101, of St. Johns, passed away Jan. 20, 2000. She was born in Bengal Township July 26, 1898, the daughter of Edward and Barbara (Miller) Siefert. She lived in Clinton County most of her life. She helped to start the Clinton County Senior Citizen Drop-In Center. She was a member of the Banner Grange for over 50 years, and a member of Clinton County Farm Bureau. She married Clarence J. Bottum in St. Johns Oct. 4, 1916. He preceded her in death April 20, 1979. Surviving are one daughter, Oral Tolles of St. Johns; one son, E.J. Bottum of Higgins Lake; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four-great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were Jan. 22 at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Weinberger officiating. The family was served by the Osgood Funeral Home. Gloria Wreggelsworth, 58, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and formerly of Ovid, passed away Jan. 19, 2000. She was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Lions Club and the Nazarene Church. Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home, Ovid, with Pastor Robert Prange officiating. Burial at South Ovid Cemetery. Harley "Jim" Fisk, 83, of Ashley, passed away Jan. 19, 2000. He was born March 30, 1916 in Montcalm County, the son of Arthur and Florence (Moffett) Fisk. He was a farmer and was the Director of Transportation of Ashley Public Schools for 14 years. He retired from Zeeb Fertilizers in Ashley in June 1982. He was a member of Ashley United Methodist Church. He really enjoyed life, especially the outdoors and one of his favorite past times was hunting and fishing. He married Vina Shepard in Bath Nov. 6, 1937, and she survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Gary (Dorothy Camburn) Fisk of Panama City, Fla., Jerry (Helen Bigelow) Fisk of Panama City, Fla., and Lee (Barbara Dolson) Fisk of Kent City; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one sister Betty Parks of Alma; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eva and Ardis; and five brothers, Floyd, Melvin, Merlin, Marcus and Gordon. Funeral services were held Jan. 22 at Smith Funeral Home, St. Johns Chapel, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Jana Jirak officiating. Memorials may be made to Gratiot County Commission on Aging or Carson City Hospital. Helen L. Pasch, 82, of Fowler, passed away Jan. 18, 2000. She was born Nov. 9, 1917 in Beardstown, Ill., the daughter of George and Laura (Trent) Hulett. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Missionary League. She was a nurses aid at Sparrow Hospital and lived at her present address since 1961. She married Herbert Pasch Sept. 25, 1940. He preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Herbert (Frances) Pasch of Alma, Leon Pasch of Fitzgerald, Ga., and Melvin (Mary) Pasch of Perrinton; five daughters, Donna (Mickey) Powell of DeWitt, Evelyn (Bill) Rummell of South Carolina, Chris (Gary) Sabin of Nashville, Carol (Ronald) Fletcher and Hilda (Jim) Lewis both of St. Johns; one brother Cecil Hulett of Bethaldo, Ill.; three half-sisters, Maggie Wood of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Bernice McNeece of Winchester, Ill. and Eileen Randolph of Pawnee, Ill.; four half-brothers, Edward McGee of Decatur, Ill., Donald McGee of Donaldsonville, Ga., Delmar McGee and Clinton McGee both of Riggston, Ill.; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dale Powell, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Pasch. Funeral services were held Jan. 22 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fowler, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor. She was born in Dallas Township Jan. 11, 1927, the daughter of Leo and Clara (Bauer) Schafer. She lived in the Fowler area most of her life. She was a homemaker, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She married Robert Thurston in Fowler June 4, 1946. He preceded her in death March 24, 1995. Surviving are four sons, David (Diane) Thurston, Douglas (Sheila O'Grady) Thurston, all of Fowler, Bill (Chris) Thurston of Hubbardston, and Steve (Janet) Thurston of Pewamo; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her second family, Tom Feldpausch, Judy Boak, Deb Schafer, Beth Halfman, Ellen Feldpausch, Jeff Feldpausch and the late Terry Feldpausch; and two brothers, Adam (Helen) Schaefer and Leroy Schafer, both of Fowler. She was preceded in death by two sisters; one grandson; and several sisters and brothers-in-law. Funeral mass was Jan. 17 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher officiating. The family was served by the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home. Martha A. Silm, 92, of DeWitt, passed away Jan. 13, 2000. She was born in Riley Township March 13, 1907, the daughter of Fred and Marie (Witt) Koeppen. She lived most of her life in Riley Township. She was a housewife and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She married Herman Silm at St. Peter Lutheran Church Oct. 9, 1929. He preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1993. Surviving are one daughter, Lorraine (Donald) Lietzke of Brimley; seven grandchildren, Kathleen (Terry) Frazier, Lisa Tran, Laurie (Rob) Wallace, Mark, Brandon, Diana and Dawn Lietzke; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew, Derek, Michaela and Colten. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Janice Tran; and two brothers, Herman and Lewis. Funeral services were Jan 17 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, burial at St. Peter Cemetery with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was retired from Michigan Milk Producers Association in Ovid. Funeral services were Jan. 20 at Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
Edna May Saxton, 77, of Grand Haven, formerly from Owosso, passed away Jan. 17, 2000. She was formerly employed by Toledo Commutator, retiring in 1988. Funeral services were Jan. 20 at Houghton Chapel in Ovid with the Rev. Kay Pratt officiating, interment at Maple Grove Cemetery. |
