Wilbur D. Bancroft

Wilbur D. Bancroft died July 10, 2000 at the age of 86. He was born in Clinton County on July 4, 1914, the son of Murdo and Nina (Ward) Bancroft and lived all his life in Maple Rapids. Wilbur was a loving husband and father, a mechanic, a parts salesman for Guernsey Auto Supply in Perrinton, and a 1932 graduate of Maple Rapids High School. He married Velma Groves in Maple Rapids on April 26, 1934 and she preceded him in death on February 2, 1995. 

Surviving are three sons, James D. (Brenda) Bancroft of St. Johns, Steven C. (Nancy) Bancroft of Perrinton, and Kurt S. (special friend Joy Hardman) of Lansing, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, one sister, Lois (Jerry) Darlymple of Lansing, one brother, Bruce (Nancy) Bancroft of Indianapolis, IN, and special friend and care giver, Doris Cooper of St. Johns. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 13, 2000 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, burial at Beach Cemetery with Pastor Wesley Farrier officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bessie Loomis

Bessie Mary Loomis, 91, of DeWitt, went to be with her Blessed Savior July 3, 2000. She was born March 15, 1909 in Yeaddis, Ky.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret "Peg" Jackson of Lansing; two sons, Jack (Maria) of Brunswick, Ga., and George (Darla) of Ypsilanti; two step-children, Joanne Windish of Brooklyn and Howard (Hazel) of Bandera, Texas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Francis Rowe and Wilma Uselton both of Tennessee.

Funeral services were July 8 at DeWitt Community Church with Pastor Frederick Nose officiating. Graveside services were held in Sherman City Cemetery, Sherman Township. Memorials may be made to Scripture Memory Mountain Mission, P.O. Box 129, Emmalena, Ky., 41740-0129, or to DeWitt Community Church, 505 Webb Rd., P.O. Box 136, DeWitt, 48820. Arrangements were made by the Gorsline-Runciman Company DeWitt Chapel, DeWitt.

Rosemary Loynes

Rosemary Loynes, 50, of Elsie, passed away July 1, 2000. She was born Feb. 12, 1950 in St. Johns the daughter of Max and Martha (Smith) Barrett.

She lived most of her life in the Elsie area. She graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School in the Class of 1968. She was a volunteer for the LPGA Oldsmobile Classic Golf Tournament at Walnut Hills Country Club for a number of years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid. She was a homemaker and a loving grandmother.

She married Richard Loynes at the Duplain Church of Christ in Rochester Colony June 15, 1968.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Loynes of Elsie; two sons, James (Sherry) Loynes of Ovid, Michael (Heidi) Loynes of East Lansing; two grandchildren, Austin James and Courtney Sue; mother and step-father, Martha and Clayton Jones of Ashley; two brothers, Dennis (Mary) Barrett of East Lansing, Paul (Wendy) Barrett of Laingsburg; step-mother, Pat Barrett; three half sisters, Kellie, Mary Lou and Kimmie; one half brother, Matt. She was preceded in death by her father, Max, and one sister, Jeannie.

Funeral services were held July 5 at Holy Family Church, burial at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie with the Rev. Fr. Paul Cummings officiating. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. Arrangements were made bye Smith Funeral Home, Elsie Chapel.

Jacalyn Dolloff

Jacalyn Sue Dolloff, 38, of Ovid, passed away June 30. 2000. She was born June 17, 1962 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Howard and Merna Berkeley.

She was a nurse aide, and had worked at Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns for four years.

She married Jeremy Dolloff May 21, 1999.

She is survived by her husband, Jeremy; two daughters Jessica and Mindi Reeve of DeWitt; her parents, Howard and Merna Berkeley of Chicago; one brother, Dr. Jeff (Janet) Berkeley of Connecticut.

Funeral services were held July 3 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca with the Rev. Tyler Bartlege officiating. Burial at Hamilton Cemetery.

Marion L. Green, Jr.

Marion L. Green, Jr. died July 7, 2000 at the age of 75. He was born in Bengal Twp. On January 4, 1925, the son of Marion Sr. and Edith (Eastman) Green and lived most of his life in St. Johns. He was a retired Federal Mogul employee, drove truck for Strouse Oil Co., was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Marion married JoAnn Bouchey in St. Johns on January 4, 1954 and she survives him. 

Also surviving are one daughter, Linda (Steven) Lewandowski of St. Johns, two grandchildren, Allison Irene and Jared Steven, two sisters, Louise (Allen) Law and Barbara Moinet, both of St. Johns, and two brothers, Ralph (Mary Ann) Green of St. Johns and Fred (Betty) Green of California. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 10, 2000 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network or Beacon of Hope.

Bertha Irene Sharp

Bertha Irene Sharp, 88, died July 7, 2000. Born February 12, 1912 in Marion, MI the daughter of Jess and Eva Jane (Burge) Sharp.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Owosso and First Baptist Church in Vestaburg.   On December 16, 1940 she married Earl Sharp and he preceded her in death September 20, 1991. 

Bertha is survived by eight children, Robert (Anne) Green of Oak Harbor, OH, Eva (Charles) Anderson of Ovid, John (Shirley) Sharp of Mulliken, Sarah Decker of Grand Ledge, Alice Gregory of Ionia, Bettyjean Bouck of Oakley, Charles (Kathy) Sharp of Olivet, and Rosemary Sharp of Ionia, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, four sisters, Alice Britton of Corunna, Pearl Overholt, Bernadine Bogart, and Luella Friend, all of Missouri.  

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 10, 2000 at Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, Graveside Services 1:30 P.M. Monday at Richland Township Cemetery, Vestaburg with Pastor Randy Terrill officiating.  The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Frank J. Seconsky

Frank J. Seconsky died July 2, 2000 at the age of 77. He was born in Shiawassee County on February 15, 1923, the son of Anthony and Josephine (Kucera) Seconsky and lived in the Corunna, Owosso, and Ovid areas most of his life. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. 

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Gordon) Taylor of Ovid and Marleen (Richard) Cornwell of St. Johns, five grandchildren, Gordie (Kim) Taylor, Aaron (Kris) Taylor, Richelle (Troy) Shaw, Kara Taylor, and Cole Cornwell, five great grandchildren, special friend, Jan Minar, one brother, Steve Seconsky of Cheboygan, MI, three sisters, Mary Hulik, Rose Stasa, and Ann Swanzie, all of Owosso, and sister-in-law, Judy Seconsky of Owosso. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Anthony and Joe Seconsky. 

There will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements by Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes.
