Sarah Emerick BelenSarah Emerick Belen, 80, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 in Lansing. Born in Roslyn, Washington June 9, 1920. She lived in the Lansing area before moving to Pewamo and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She retired from General Motors after 25 years. Sarah is survived by two daughters, Velva Jean Glowacki & Sally Jo (Merle) Braun; daughter-in-law, Jamie Emerick; grandchildren, Christopher Glowacki, Brian (Jeanette) Glowacki, Darlene (Tim) Stadt, Mary Ellen Glowacki, Michele (Larry) Luttig, Tracy (Mike) Schmitt, Matthew (Peggy) Braun, Jason Braun, Steve Emerick, Dan Emerick, Mary Jennifer (Tom) VanSumeren, and Rebecca Foster, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great greatgrandson; sister, Ida Hunt; brother-in-law, Alvin Aspenson; and sister-in-law Minnie Homan. Her husband and father of her children, Emmett Emerick and second husband, John Belen, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are sons, Curtis Emerick and Emmett William (Bill) Emerick; granddaughter, Mary Angela Emerick; two sisters, Jasimine Cooper and Olive Aspenson; and three brothers, Steve, Emery, and Curtis Homan. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 29, 2000, 10:30 A.M. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher and Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler with prayer services being held at 8 pm Thursday and 3 and 8 Friday. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid Michigan or Mid Michigan Regional Dialysis Center. John H. Hill, 54, of Ovid, died July 23, 2000, at home after a courageous battle with cancer for two and one-half years. He was born April 28, 1946, in Lansing, the son of Allen Byron and Florine Lena Marie (Bond) Hill. He lived most of his life in Lansing and Ovid. Mr. Hill graduated in 1964 from Lansing Eastern High School. He played softball, was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and watching car racing. He was also a big fan of MSU. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ovid. He was a Job Setter at BOC, Lansing. He was married to Emily M. Gerstenberger Dec. 31, 1976, in Lansing, and she survives him. Also surviving are four children, John A. (Peggy) Hill of Arkansas, Jim E. (Tracie) Hill of Owosso, Buffy (David) Lutz of Greenville, Shandra (Vern) Parks, Jr., of Bath; six grandchildren, Ashley, Braelyn, Hannah, Vern III, Brittany, and Benjamin; his mother, Florine Peabody of Elsie; three sisters, Kaye Cleveland of Haslett, Judy (Ronald) Decker of Williamston, Jane (John) Cooper of Farwell; one step-brother, David (Pat) Peabody of Claussen; two step-sisters, Donora (Richard) Stauffer of Lansing, and Alice (Roger) Miller of Eaton Rapids; one aunt, Helen Rueckert of Perry; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Hill, and his step-father, David Peabody. The funeral service was held July 27 at the First Baptist Church, Ovid, with Pastor Dennis Boonstra officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. Fabus, 90, of Ashley, died July 24, 2000, at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing. He was born April 5, 1910, in Cuyohoga County, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Mary (Klimo) Fabus. He came as a boy to Michigan with his parents in 1915, and lived in the Ashley area where he has lived the rest of his life. He was a farmer and worked in various factories. He retired from Federal Mogul in St. Johns in 1972. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was married to Frances Luznak in 1932 in Bannister. She preceded him in death in 1961. He was married to Rose Stehlik Aug. 6, 1965 in Bannister. She preceded him in death Jan. 6, 1997. Surviving are two children, Cathy (Bob) Rice of Mason, and Bob Fabus of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Marlene Fabus of Ashley; son-in-law, George Dush of St. Johns; two step-daughters, Barbara (John) Haruska of Ashley, and Theresa (James) Lytle of Ashley; five step-sons, James (Helen) Stehlik of Ashley, Edward (Roberta) Stehlik of Bannister, Joseph (Virginia) Stehlik of Owosso, Fredrick (Frances) Stehlik of Ovid, and Lawrence (Mary Ann) Stehlik of Ithaca; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two children, Hellen Dush and John Paul Fabus Jr.; and one brother, Joseph Fabus. The Mass of Christian Burial was held July 28 at St.Cyril's Catholic Church with Fr. Streichardt and Fr. Max Freigel officiating. Burial was at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County. Memorials may be made to St. Cyril's Catholic Church.
