Jack A. Desprez 

Jack A. Desprez died September 4, 2000 at the age of 63. He was born in Lansing on August 19, 1937, the son of Allen and Elsie (Steele) Desprez and lived most of his life in St. Johns. He retired from Federal Mogul after 37 years of service and worked as an aide in the Auto Shop Program at St. Johns High School. He was a board member of Clinton County Federal Credit Union and was formerly president of the board for six years. Jack married Linda Brown in St. Johns on September 21, 1956 and she survives him. 

Also surviving are two sons, Paul (Mary Jo) Desprez of Ann Arbor and Steve (Carole) Desprez of St. Johns, one daughter, Denise (Bill) Nielsen of Austin, TX, five grandchildren, one sister, Rosalie (David) Moore of Portland, and great aunt, Rozella Hyde of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 7, 2000 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at South Bingham Cemetery with Rev. Robert Prange officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or St. Johns High School Auto Program. 

Katherine R. Ritz

Katherine R. Ritz died September 4, 2000 at the age of 59. She was born in St. Johns on April 19, 1941, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Pratt) Roof and lived most of her life in St. Johns. She was employed at Beck’s Farm Market and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Katherine married Paul Ritz in St. Johns on June 20, 1959 and he survives her. 

Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle (Gerald) Rademacher, one son, Dennis Ritz, all of St. Johns, two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kimberly Rademacher, her parents, Ruth and Paul Roof, four sisters, Sharon (Bill) Irrer, Paula Reynolds, Pamela (Don) Boak, and Judy (Gary) Moon, mother-in-law, Cecile Ritz, brother-in-law, Bob (Dorothy) Ritz, all of St. Johns, two sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) Elsea of St. Johns and Barb (Steve) Bucsi of Owosso, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Duane Ritz in 1988 and father-in-law, Lester Ritz. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Eureka Cemetery with Pastor Paul Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Medical Supply or Hospice of Clinton County.

Herbert L. Murray

Herbert L. Murray died Saturday September 2, 2000 at the age of 78.  Born March 10, 1922 in Obion, Tennessee, the son of James and Minnie Murray.  He was retired from Evans Products in Plymouth, MI and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Herb married Kathleen Rainey on July 26, 1941 in Missouri and she preceded him in death on May 3, 1998. 

Surviving are one son, Gene Murray of Ovid, two daughters Dorothy (Robert) Bush of Howell, MI and Alice Tomlinson of Bloomfield Hills, MI, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren,
and one sister Elsie Moon of TN.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at Calvary Baptist Church, burial at Middlebury Cemetery with Rev. Robert Magee officiating. The family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Monday at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid. Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church. 

Gilbert A. Simon

Gilbert A. Simon, 94. Our wonderful father passed away on Sept. 1, 2000, with his family by his side. Gilbert was born on July 9, 1906 to Peter and Theresa (Rademacher) Simon on the farm where he lived his whole life. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie (Sontag) Simon. He will long be remembered for his quick wit and cheerful attitude. 

Surviving are his seven sons and four daughters, Teresa (Alan) Thelen, Mary Ann (James) Rademacher, Susan (Gerald) Hurren, Kenneth (Janet) Simon, Dennis (Sandy) Simon, all of Fowler, Diane (Robert) Schneider of St. Helen, Eugene (Lynda) Simon of Houghton Lake, Lawrence (Karen) Simon of Illinois, Theodore (Joan) Simon of Charlotte, James (Ellen) Simon of Pewamo, and Neil (Desiree) Simon of Petoskey, son-in-law, Clarence Klein of Fowler, 55 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Rose Hufnagel, Agnes Feldpausch and Sr. Hilda. Preceded in death by two daughters, Janet Klein and Arlene Simon, two granddaughters, Joyce Simon and Christine Simon, son-in-law, James Thelen,  seven brothers and two sisters. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, 10:30 A.M. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 3:00 & 8:00 P.M. Sunday and Monday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler. Those desiring may make contributions to the Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund, Clinton Memorial Home Health Care or Hospice for Clinton County in memory of Gilbert.
