Alex Glendon "Hoppy" Cassady | Vickie L. Mills |
Vickie L. MillsVickie L. Mills died October 4, 2000 at the age of 30. She was born in St. Johns on February 3, 1970, the daughter of Eugene and Carolyn (Griffin) Schollaert and lived in St. Johns before moving to Mesick. She was a graduate of Fulton High School and attended Minar Church of Mesick. Vickie married Arthur Mills in Ithaca on June 1, 1986 and he survives her. Also surviving are three children, Jake Douglas Mills, Victoria Lynn Mills, and Steven Ray Mills, mother, Carolyn Griffin, three sisters, Vena (Jeffrey) Hendrickson of Vestaburg, Sally (Jerry) Kelly of Ithaca, and Patti (Tom) Husted of Corunna, two brothers, Ron (Marnie) Schollaert of Vestaburg and Ted (Kris) Schollaert of Clare, grandparents, Margaret Griffin of Cadillac and Ray and Arlene Griffin of Ovid, and mother-in-law, Mary Mills of St. Johns. She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley, father-in-law, Douglas Mills, Sr., and her father that raised her, Gale Ball. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 7, 2000 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Noon-4 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a trust fund for her children. Alex Glendon "Hoppy" CassadyAlex Glendon "Hoppy" Cassady died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the age of 78. He was born August 6, 1922 in Ithaca, the son of Archie and Ola (Ball) Cassady. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II,was a member of U.A.W. #925 having retired from Federal Mogul after 29 years and enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. Alex married Gladys M. Ley in Corunna on April 2, 1966 and she survives him. Also surviving are four daughters, Bonnie (Joe) Konopka of Virginia, Glenda McKee of Owosso, Julie (Mike) Heuer of St. Johns, and Cindy (Dick) Schrader of DeWitt, two sons, Roger (Darleen) Cassady of Levering, MI and Michael Cassady of White Salmon, Washington, sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Beverly (Richard) Bovee of North Star, and one brother, Robert (Willowdeen) Cassady of Ithaca. He was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian VanDePerre and one brother, Murl Cassady. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 P.M. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Alice M. Miller, 80, of Lansing and formerly of East DeWitt, passed away Sept. 28, 2000. She was born Oct. 19, 1919 in St. Johns. Mrs. Miller formerly provided the meals for the DeWitt Lions Clubs and was head chef at the Frontier for many years. She was an avid bingo player and was a very giving person who always cared for her family and others first. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin (1972) and daughters, Judy Secord (1995) and Marie (1994). She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Surviving are one daughter, Kathleen Miller of East Lansing; three sons, Ronald of Portland, William (Linda) of Ohio, and Richard (Sue) of Williamston; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Grey of Owosso and Betty Thompson of Harrison. Rite of Committal was Oct. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3315 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Lansing, Mich., 48910. |
