Mary Good Herbert W. Witt
 

Jimmie (Cothran) Fowler

Jimmie (Cothran) Fowler, formerly of Ovid and Owosso, died in Lansing following a brief illness on November 28, 2000 at the age of 75. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, TN on January 29, 1925, the daughter of Jessie and Bonnie (Nicholson) Cothran. She was first a wife and mother in her heart. She worked during the war years at Ford Motor in Highland Park and she retired from Motor Products in Owosso after many years of service. She married Frank E. Fowler in Detroit on July 20, 1946. 

She is survived by four children, Robert (Janice) Fowler of Belleville; Fran Fowler of Lansing; Ginny (Jim) Shipley of Owosso; and Joan (Warren) Dennison of Owosso. Also surviving are six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Roberts of Saginaw and Remona (Warren) Butler of Columbia, TN; two brothers, Richard (Lena) Cothran of Mt. Pleasant, TN and Charles (Rosemary) Cothran of Columbia, TN; sister-in-law, Irma Fowler of Owosso; along with many nieces, nephews and special friends. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband Frank in July 1977, one grandson, Jim Dennison in September 2000, her parents, two sisters, and two brothers. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 1, 2000 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, burial at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Danny Valez officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday and 11A.M.-service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Association of America or the charity of your choice. 

The next time you pick up a book to read, think of her-oh, how she loved to read.  

Vaughn J. Monahan

Vaughn J. Monahan died November 28, 2000 at the age of 86. He was born in Port Huron, MI on September 17, 1914, the son of Joseph P. and Ruby (Burtch) Monahan. He was a retired V.A. hospital administrator, a retired major in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of World War II as part of the H & S Co 398th Engineers. Vaughn married Lillian McGowan in Louisiana on April 26, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 1999. 

Surviving are three nephews, Michael (Ann) Palmer of St. Johns, Terrance J. Palmer of Punta Gorda, FL, and James Mitchell of Tucson, AZ. 

Private graveside services will be held. Arrangements by the Osgood Funeral Home.

  Herbert W. Witt

Herbert W. Witt, 89 died Saturday Nov. 25, 2000. He was born in Riley Township on February 4, 1911, the son of William F. and Lulu (Krumm) Witt. He was a member and an elder of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a member of the Farm Bureau having been a retired farmer. Herbert married Olga J. McPrangle on June 8, 1932 and she survives him. 

Also surviving are one son, Dorrell (Caroline) Witt of Grand Ledge, two daughters, Marlene (Eric) Peterson of DeWitt and Mary (Dennis) Whitlock of St. Johns, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one brother, Howard Witt of Houghton Lake.  

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2000, 1:00 P.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Heimsoth officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday and 6-8 P.M. Monday at the Osgood Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran School Fund.

Mary Good

marygood.jpg (8344 bytes)Age 82 of Leslie passed away Friday, November 24, 2000 at Shepard Adult Foster Care Home in Leslie, Michigan

Funeral services will be held Monday November 27, 2000 at 1:00 P.M.at Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie, with Pastor Lyle Calkins officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday 2-8 with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Mary was born in Ashley on June 18, 1918, the daughter of John & Frances (Bednarik) Niko. Mary married Herman L. Good in Elsie, Michigan on July 2, 1938. Herman died October 24 1988. She was a homemaker and resided most of her life in Shiawassee County until moving to East Tawas. Mary enjoyed cooking and providing a place for her family to come to. She also loved fishing and polkas.

Survivors include two daughters; Betty G. & Dick Farnan of Georgia, Barbara St. John of Owosso, MI., 1 son; Robert & Ann Good of Montana, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Steve & Frances Niko of Oscoda, Michigan and many nieces & nephews. Her parents, 1 grandson Leslie and 2 sisters & 2 brothers predeceased Mary.

Memorials may be made to WOES Polka program at Ovid – Elsie High School.
