Ann Mason

A memorial service for Ann Mason will be held at 3 p.m., March 13, at the First Congregational Church, 129 S. Park St., Kalamazoo.

Ann passed away Jan. 21, 2001 at her home in Laingsburg, after a long bout with cancer.

Her love for nature impacted her daily life and enriched the lives of others, and in recognition of that two Ann Mason Wildlife Funds have been established. One at the Michigan Wildlife Habitat Foundation, 6380 Drumheller Road, P.O. Box 393, Bath, Mich., 48808, and the other at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, 151 S. Rose St., Suite 332, Kalamazoo, Mich., 49007-4775.

Memorials may be made to either of these funds. Arrangements by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, Kalamazoo.

Sharon J. O’Dell

Age 59 of Elsie, Michigan passed away Monday, March 5, 2001 at Edward W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 9, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel with Pastor Rodger DeVore officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m.

Sharon was born in Saratoga, Wyoming on September 3, 1940, the daughter of Kesby Vincent and Lillian Mary (Winter) Case. She graduated from Elsie High School with the Class of 1958. She was a homemaker and resided most of her life in the Ovid and Elsie areas.

Survivors include two sons, Wally (Linda) Beeman of Owosso, MI, and John (Marsha) Beeman of Ovid, MI, three grandchildren, Samuel, Emily, and Kathryn, and sister, Marsha (Paul) Unterbrink of Owosso, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, and one sister, Jane Lipp.

Memorials may be made to Charity of Donor’s Choice.

Michael B. Gough

Michael B. Gough celebrated his life here on earth beginning May 24, 1965 born in Ann Arbor and ending March 4, 2001 at the age of 35. We rejoice in knowing that Michael has been made whole through the love of Jesus. He will be remembered for his smiles, his laughter, and joy that he brought to many who loved and cared for him.  

He is survived by his mother, Jill (Robert) Meyers of East Lansing, father, George (Marge) Gough of Mason, brother, Douglas (Kelly) Gough of West Branch, two nephews, Conner Gough and Cooper Gough, aunts, uncles, and several cousins, special family members, Bonnie Grandy, Billie Galloway, Bettye Karbo, Teresa Ayers, and the rest of the Bradford Home family. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Haslett Community Church, Haslett, MI, with Rev. Kurt Kirchoff officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alternative Service-Bradford Home, 1401 E. Lansing Dr., Suite 106, East Lansing, MI 48823.

Mabel I. Forrester 

Mabel I. Forrester died March 3, 2001 at the age of 73. Born in Crystal Lake, Iowa on June 23, 1927, she was the daughter of John and Anna (Bohac) Sterba. She was a member of Z.C.B.J. in Owosso. Mrs. Forrester enjoyed crafts, gardening, and spending time with her family. 

She is survived by two daughters, Debra (Ken) Hoyt of Harrison, MI and Vickie (Dan) Clayton of Owosso, three grandchildren, Ken Hoyt, Jr. of Wyoming, MI, Troy Clayton of Owosso, and Danielle Clayton of Owosso. Mabel also has four brothers, Richard (Bonnie) Sterba of Wyoming, MI, Paul (Lindy) Sterba of North Las Vegas, NV, Robert Sterba of Ovid, and John Sterba of Flint, many loving nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews, aunts, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her niece, Kelly Sterba, and great niece, Kristina Sterba-Bond. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Monday and 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid.

Keith H. "Rosie" Rosekrans

Age 73 of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 1, 2001 at home with his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 10:00 A.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Joseph Krzyzaniak will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Sunday and Monday from 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m. There will also be a Knight of Columbus Rosary Service Monday Evening at 7:30 P.m.

Keith was born in St. Johns, Michigan on May 26, 1927, the son of Harry Woodruff and Jeanette Alice (Stevens) Rosekrans. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the Class of 1945. On May 10, 1952 he married Dorothy Joan Chapko at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. They were married for 49 years. He retired from Federal Mogul Corporation in St. Johns after 43 years of hard work and dedication. He operated Duraclean Service for 25 years. He was known by many as "Grandpa Moose", for his perfection in making pizza’s during his years of working at L&L Food Store. Keith had a wonderful "Gift of Gab," and teasing sense of humor. That’s why he enjoyed his job passing out samples at L&L. He also enjoyed delivering flowers at L&L. He was always willing to help others however he could, and survived Polio as a child. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, and a member of Knights of Columbus and the Usher Club. He resided most of his life in St. Johns. 

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rosekrans of St. Johns, MI, seven children, Joan & Rick Sloyer of St. Johns, MI, Gary Rosekrans of St. Johns, MI, Sharon & Mike Worthington of Ionia, MI, Brian & Sheri Rosekrans of Ovid, MI, Debra Grant & Fiancé Mark Lott of Laingsburg, MI, Carrie & Dr. Jay Williams of Ann Arbor, MI, and Cena Rosekrans of Lansing, MI, ten grandchildren, Michael & Miranda Sloyer, Kristopher & Kelsie Rosekrans, Morgan & Grant Worthington, Joshua, Kameron, & Taylar Rosekrans, and Jacob Grant, one sister, Janice & Frank Todoscuik of Elsie, MI, and one sister in law, Margaret Rosekrans of Bath, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry & Jeanette Rosekrans and his brother, Carl Rosekrans. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus, St. Johns, Michigan.
