Roger J. Sigafoose | Earl H. Kussmaul |
Roger J. Sigafoose, 45, of Middleton, passed away March 15, 2001 at his home. He was born July 26, 1955 in St. Johns, the son of Evert L. and Arlene (Keiffer) Sigafoose. Roger was a member of the Rat Pack Motorcycle Club and the Salmon Derby Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, restoring cars and was a coach potato. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Sigafoose and Mike Kus of Perrinton; son, Brian Simpson of Lansing; parents, Evert and Arlene Sigafoose; granddaughter, Erin Kus of Perrinton; fiance, Cassandra Chase of Middleton; two brothers, Gary (Sandra) Sigafoose of Harrison, and Steve Sigafoose of Bannister; three sisters, Shari Weber and Gary Brown of Elsie; Shelly Sigafoose of Bannister, and Sandra (Timothy) Anderson of Owosso; and several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Roger Sigafoose, April 16, 1995. Funeral services were held March 17, 2001 at the Dodge Funeral Home in Middleton with Pastor Jana Jirak of the Bannister United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was at Payne Cemetery, Middleton. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Earl H. Kussmaul, 82, of North Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of DeWitt, passed away March 13, 2001 in North Fort Myers. He was born Aug. 28, 1918 in DeWitt, the son of Gottlob and Matilda (Weismiller) Kussmaul. He was a lifelong member of the Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt and Past Worshipful Master of the Dimondale Masonic Lodge #449 F & AM. He retired as the financial secretary of the UAW #602 for Fisher Body. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was vice president of the Capital Council and the Lansing Labor News, was on the board of the Lansing Area Auto Body Credit Union and the Lansing Old Newsboys. Surviving are his son, Leon (Lynn) Kussmaul of Fort Meyers, Fla.; three grandchildren, Barbara Davidson of Duluth, Minn., Susan Kussmaul of Leigh, Fla., and Bryan Kussmaul of Bradenton, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; special friend, Betty Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fayellen, in 1989; brother, Ray; and sister Lorna. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Patricia L. Brook, associate pastor March 17 at Redeemer United Methodist Church, DeWitt with graveside services following at DeWitt Cemetery. Military graveside honors were provided by DeWitt VFW Edwin J. Leyanna Post #671. Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Ft. Meyers, Fla. Arrangements were by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Gabrielle Leigh NoonanGabrielle Leigh Noonan, infant daughter of Tim and Rachel (Zakerski) Noonan, passed away March 14, 2001. Also surviving are grandparents, Morris and Sarah Noonan of Elsie and Michael and Andrea Zakerski of Parma. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Timothy D. Krzyzaniak officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Iva Marie (Carroll) KeelIva Marie (Carroll) Keel died March 14, 2001 at the age of 73. Born December 15, 1927 in Shiawassee County, Michigan the daughter of Charles W. and Bernice E. (Goodrich) Carroll. She attended C.M.U. and graduated from M.S.U. Iva retired from the Intelligence Department of the U.S. Government. She married Richard Cole Keel June 20, 1947 and he preceded her in death August 21, 1987. Iva is survived by her two sons, J. Eric (Pamela) Keel of Chula Vista, CA and R. Kirk (Donna) Keel of El Cajon, CA, two grandsons, Richard N. Keel and Joshua Cole Keel, also of California, one sister, Mary (Wendall) McCreery of Owosso, her mother-in-law, Mary J. Keel of Ovid, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Clare Tom Carroll and two sisters, Ora Isham and Virginia Schrader. Memorial Services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at the First Baptist Church, Ovid with Rev. Dennis Boonstra officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or United Church of Ovid. Napolean MartinezNapolean Martinez, the greatest father of all has passed on March 13, 2001 at the age of 91, leaving behind his beloved wife and children. He was born in Coahuila, Mexico on February 11, 1910, the son of Jesus and Leocadia (Torres) Martinez and resided in Michigan since he was two years old. He was a retired steel worker for Great Lakes Steel in Detroit and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid. Napolean married Aurora Salinas in Detroit on July 4, 1942 and she survives him. Also surviving are three daughters, Elodia Keys of Ovid, Ermalinda (Aaron) Moreno, and Gloria Castillo, all of Detroit, two sons, Napolean Martinez, Jr. of Ovid and Dave (Libby) Martinez of Oakley, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two sisters, Marianna Castillo and Estella (John) Gonzales, all of Grand Rapids, one brother, Jesse Martinez of Grand Rapids, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 17, 2001 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid, with Rev. Fr. Paul Cummings officiating with a rosary prayed 7:30 P.M. Friday at the church. We will love you always. Age 88 of Elsie, Michigan died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at her home. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Ashley Nursing Home for 19 years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Rev. Jana Jirak will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Sunday 7-9 and Monday 2-9 with family present 2-4 & 7-9 P.m. Irene was born in Clinton County Michigan on March 5, 1913 the daughter of Miles & Cora (Dobson) Knight. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns with the class of 1931. Irene was a member of the Bannister United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Bowling, Bingo and playing Bunko. She had resided most of her life in Clinton County moving to Elsie in 1973. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Doris & Don Edgar of Ithaca, Michigan, Sharon & William Gannon of Jackson, Michigan, one son Dale Crowell of Elsie, 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband Myron, 1 daughter Janet Pope, 2 sons Billy & Lonnie and 1 great granddaughter, 3 sisters & 1 brother predeceased her. Memorials can be made to Bannister United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Eugene W. Jack SessionsEugene W.
