Zola B. Lintemuth

zola.jpg (8298 bytes)Age 66 of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at her home.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 13, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Pastor Robert Ditmer will officiate. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday 7-9 and Thursday 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m.

Zola was born on May 30, 1934 in Mecosta County, Michigan, the daughter of Erwin D. and Eva (Robinson) Johnson. She graduated from Mecosta High School with the Class of 1953. On February 14, 1958 she married Keith A. Lintemuth in Big Rapids, Michigan. She worked as a cook for the Hitching Post Highway Café and the Wheel Inn in St. Johns, Michigan. She attended Eureka Christian Church and was a member of the Good Sam Travel Club. She resided in the St. Johns area the past 40 years.

Survivors include her husband, Keith A. Lintemuth of St. Johns, MI, two sons, Bryan (Judy) Lintemuth of Perrinton, MI, and Bradley Lintemuth & friend Beth of Corunna, MI, five grandchildren, Cathy, Johnathon, Trent, Miriah, and Shaye, one brother Alvin (Janet) Johnson of McBride, MI, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Memorials may be made to Carson City Hospital Home Health Care. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Mary R. (May Rose) Armbrustmacher

Armbrustmacher-MaryR.jpg (10105 bytes)Mary R. (May Rose) Armbrustmacher died April 11, 2001 at the age of 80. She was born in Westphalia on April 16, 1920, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Bengel) Simon. She was a homemaker, an Avon Lady for many years, was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and Christian Mothers, and wrote articles for Fowler Post and Lansing State Journal. May Rose married Arnold Armbrustmacher in Westphalia on August 27, 1938 and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1999. 

Surviving are one son, Allan (Janet) Armbrustmacher of Fowler, foster son, Chuck (Beth) Heyer of St. Johns, grandchildren, Eric Armbrustmacher of Lansing, Greg (Carmen) Armbrustmacher, Scott Armbrustmacher, Michael (Jennifer) Armbrustmacher, all of Fowler, Doug (Krista) Heyer of DeWitt, Kim (Bob) Tirva of Huntington Woods, CA, and Brent (Tonya) Heyer of Fowler, six great grandchildren, and one brother, Theodore (Mary Jane) Simon of East Lansing. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Denis.  

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher officiating. A rosary will be prayed 8 P.M. Thursday and 8 P.M. Friday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home. 

William H. Wallace 

William H. Wallace died April 7, 2001 at the age of 69. He was born in Lansing on July 23, 1931, the son of Clifford and Catherine (Pilmore) Wallace and lived in Alabama the last 22 years coming from Maple Rapids. He was a self-employed truck driver. William married Winifred A. Crum in Maple Rapids on December 30, 1951 and she survives him. 

Also surviving are four daughters, Linda (Pete) Potter of Chugiack, AK, Jean (Terry) Sillman of Maple Rapids, Lorie (Alvin) Harris of Montgomery, AL, and Janean (Tom) Reid of Flushing, MI, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Emajean Vandecastle of Grayling, MI and Sandy Moorehead of Lansing, MI, and one brother, Raymond Wallace of TX. 

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, burial at Sowle Cemetery with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home.

Allan Herbert Slote

Allan Herbert Slote, 82, of St. Johns, passed away March 25, 2001 after a brief illness, He was born in Windsor, Ontario , Sept 27, 1919 , where he attended Ontario Agricultural College.

He worked as a supervisor at Michigan Milk Producers in Ovid until he retired in 1977. He enjoyed golfing at his Lakeland, Fla., home.

Surviving him are his wife, Mardell, of St. Johns; daughter, Anne (Guy) Elsenheimer of Bath; two grandchildren, Beth and Becky, also of Bath; one sister, Alma Slote of Windsor, Ontario.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., April 16, at the First United Methodist Church in St. Johns. A graveside service will follow at St. Johns Cemetery with Pastor Carol Floyd officiating.

Laurel Evitts

Laurel (Tap) Evitts, 75 of St. Johns, passed away April 12, 2001. He was born May 17, 1925, in Pompeii.

He retired from Industrial Metal Products in Lansing. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0212 in Chesaning. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He was winter resident of Punta Gorda, Fla., since 1997.

Surviving are his wife, Esther; step-daughters, Deanna Gagne of Michigan, and Linda Story of Texas; step-sons, Douglas and David Orser of Colorado; sisters, Wanda (Gill) Baker of Eureka, Bernice Hubbell-Lee of Michigan; brother, John Evitts of Michian; and many step-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Norman Joseph Pohl

Norman Joseph Pohl, 66, of Harrison passed away April 12, 2001. He was born March 25, 1935 in Duplain Township, the son of Allie and Leona (Hoppes) Pohl.

He was one of nine children: brothers, Ron (Elouise) Pohl, Mike (Bonnie) Pohl, Pat (Gay) Pohl; sisters, Jeanette (Bob) Powers, Dorothy (Mike) Bertrum, Carol Mueller, Betty (Truman) Hale and Kate Pohl.

Norman and Nancy (Kingery) raised five children: sons, Allie (Tina) Pohl of St. Johns, Stormin (Jennie) Pohl of Harrison, Russell (Shelly) Pohl of Fowler, Charlie (Michelle) Pohl of Red Oak, Iowa; and daughter, Tina (Mason) of East Jordan.

Norman moved from St. Johns to Harrison in 1989 where he became a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #2235. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building and working on lawn mowers. He was a great cook and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving him are his companion, Elmira Bauer; his children; brothers; sisters; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Kate.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April, 15, and at 11 a.m., Monday, April 16. A funeral service to celebrate is his life is at 1 p.m., Monday, with Pastor Bruce VonWald officiating. A Moose ritual will precede his funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
