James Michael Buckley

buckley.jpg (9431 bytes)Age 33 of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001 at his home.

Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, July 26, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. Rev. Raymond R. Sundell will officiate with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m.

James was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 19, 1967 the son of Michael Edward and Linda Ann (Bratton) Buckley. He resided most of his life in the St. Johns area. He graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1986. He was a former Big Brother in Clinton County and he enjoyed working on autos and woodworking.

Survivors include his parents, Michael & Linda Buckley of St. Johns, one brother Mike Buckley of St. Johns, grandparents Jackie & Jim Bratton of Rockford, Doris Buckley of Clarkston, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James is predeceased by his grandfather Jack Buckley, two uncles Lloyd and Randy Buckley.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of the donors choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Marie Thelen

Thelen-Agnes.jpg (9424 bytes)Marie Thelen died July 22, 2001 at the age of 75. She was born in Hubbardston on April 1, 1926, the daughter of Matthew and Mary (Rogers) Dailey and lived in Fowler most of her life. She was a school teacher and retired from Becker Furniture, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and past regent of the Daughters of Isabella. Marie married Leo Thelen in Hubbardston on June 4, 1946.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Leo Thelen, her children, Mary Lee (John) Kowatch of Pewamo, Linda (Ron) McCarty of St. Johns, Terry (Theresa) Thelen, David Thelen all of St. Johns, Colleen (Dan) Fedewa of Westphalia, Brian (Debbie) Thelen of Fowler, and Mike (Andrea) Thelen of St. Johns, twenty-three grandchildren, Tim, Lori, Brian, Dan and Chris Kowatch; Brent, Sean and Ryan McCaarty; Jessica, Jamie and Brie Thelen; Chris Halliday; Matthew, Courtney, Troy, Abby and Travis Fedewa; Emily, Michael and Katie Thelen; Sarah, Jacob and Amanda Rademacher, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Kevin, infant daughter, Annette, grandchildren, Michelle Kowatch and Michael Fedewa, parents, Matthew and Mary Dailey, brothers, Russell, Clare and Victor Dailey, sisters, Berdella Adams, Martha Curtis and Eleanor Lowe.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Gilbert Rahrig officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Osgood Funeral Home with Rosary prayed 8 P.M. Monday 3 and 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Wirth-Cody.jpg (8895 bytes)Cody James Wirth, 5, of Lyons, MI died July 23, 2001 as the result of an accident. He was born January 30, 1996 in Carson City, MI the son of David & Robin (Welch) Wirth. Cody would have started kindergarten this fall.

Survived by parents David and Robin, sisters Katie, Kelsey & Mackenzie and brother Bradley, grandparents Maynard & Mary Ann Wirth of Fowler and Mamie Robinson of Pewamo, godfather Robert Hengesbach of Fowler, and godmother Mary Jo Wirth of Fowler.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 27, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo with Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, with a vigil service prayed 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Harold T. Chadwick

chadwick.jpg (12169 bytes)Age 91 of Higgins Lake formerly of Laingsburg & Elsie area died Friday, July 20 2001 at his home. He retired from Oldsmobile after 35 years of service. He resided most of his life at Higgins Lake, Laingsburg and Elsie.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 23, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel with Rev. Robert Russell officiating. Burial will take place at Reed Cemetery, Laingsburg, Michigan. Visitation will be Saturday, 7-9 P.M. & Sunday 2-9 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m.

Harold was born in Laingsburg, Michigan on June 27, 1910 the son of Orley and Birdella (Stitchler) Chadwick, Orley died in 1916 and then he was raised by Birdella & Roy VanVelsor. He graduated from Laingsburg High School with the class of 1929. On August 25, 1982 he married Beulah Rogers at Houghton Lake, Michigan. He attended Old Country Community Church in Houghton Lake and was a Life member of the Houghton Lake Elks Club, Oldsmobile Club, Amvets of Higgins Lake, NRA, and the Lansing Gun Club. Chad served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre in the Amphibious Engineers and was a member of the American Legion in Houghton Lake, VFW Charlie Engles Post at Roscommon.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Chadwick of Higgins Lake, 1 daughter Mary E. Chadwick of Laingsburg, 1 granddaughter Cheri and Dale Good of Laingsburg, 3 great grandchildren, Chad James, Zachary Thomas, Sydnie Faye, Stepchildren; Dirk & Joanne Galehouse of Elsie, Janet Bokros of Romeo, Jack & Claretta Rogers of Morris, 1 step grandson, Jason Rogers of Morris, 1 sister, Geraldine Underhill of St. Johns, 1 sister in law, Barbara VanVelsor of Laingsburg, many nieces & nephews. His 1 sister & 2 brothers predeceased him.

Memorials may be made to the Old Country Community Church, AmiCare-Hospice of Grayling or Lyon Township Fie Department.

Susan A. Grow

Susan A. Grow of Farwell, formerly of Applegate, MI and Pewamo, died July 24, 2001 at the age of 84. Born April 23, 1917 in Poniky, Slovakia the daughter of John and Susan (Piar) Walaskay. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Clare. Her husband of 43 years, Osmond Grow, proceded her in death on December 20, 1998.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Andrew Walaskay of Grand Rapids, Mary Flanagan of Port Huron, George Walaskay of Bellevue, and Helen (John) Woidke of Madison Heights, several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great great nieces & nephews. Susan was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Walaskay and one brother, John Walaskay.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 26, 2001 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at East Plains Cemetery with Pastor Paul Fetzer officiating. The family will receive friends 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church, 1002 N. McEwan, Clare, MI 48617.
