Kay L. Hindall | Vera B. Rowland |
Age 65 of Bannister, Michigan died Monday, August 27, 2001 at Carson City Hospital in Carson City. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel with Rev. Jodie Flessner officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7-9 P.m. Kay was born in Pompeii, Michigan on March 31, 1936, the daughter of Lyle & Ida (Thompson) Keiser. On May 24, 1952 she married Charles Hindall in Alma, Michigan. She attended Pompeii United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Pompeii and resided most of her life in Pompeii. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hindall of Bannister, three daughters; Linda (Dave) Grover of Shepherd, Denise Uribe of St. Johns, and Sheila (Don) Hier of Ashley, one son, Bob (Tina) Hindall of Ithaca, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild, one sister, Zelda (Duke) Kunst of Louisiana, one brother, John (Jeanne) Fitzpatrick of Ithaca, and a special aunt Ivah Mitchell of South Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents. Memorials may be made to Carson City Hospital Light of Love. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Vera B. Rowland died August 27, 2001 at the age of 93. Born in Peirson Township July 2, 1908 she was the daughter of William and Carrie (Reed) Huckleberry and lived all of her life in Clinton and Ionia Counties. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in DeWitt. Vera married Arthur Rowland in December of 1927 and he preceded her in death in November of 1965. She is survived by one daughter, Arlene (Bud) Barnes of St. Johns, one son, Leo (Frances) Rowland of Ionia, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and 3 great great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Vera was preceded in death by three brothers, and three sisters. Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 30, 2001 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia, with Pastor Joseph Dedic officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heritage Baptist Church of Dewitt. Age 65 of Ovid, Michigan passed away Saturday August 25, 2001 at Memorial Healthcare Center, in Owosso, Michigan. Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Wednesday, August 29, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. Rev. Merlin Pratt will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Monday from 7-9 and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Porubsky was born in Bannister, Michigan on February 4, 1936, the son of Rudolph & Helen (Belko) Porubsky. On December 5, 1964 he married Joanne Griggs in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He retired from the Maintenance Department at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso, in 1984. He was a member of the Elsie United Methodist Church and resided most of his life in Bannister, Elsie, and Ovid. Survivors include; his wife, Joanne Porubsky of Ovid; 2 daughters Debra (Mike) Coleman of Elsie, Heidi (Eric) Wells of Elsie, 3 sons Andrew Porubsky of Ovid, Eugene Porubsky of Farmington Hills, Matthew Porubsky of Wixom, 3 grandchildren Kristy & Tabitha Coleman, and Robert Lee Porubsky, 2 sisters Roberta (Edward) Stehlik of Bannister, Dorothy (Larry) Fultz of Missouri, 1 brother Alfred (Mary) Porubsky of Bannister and many nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by his parents and 1 brother Gary. Memorials can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. |
