Irene Witt | Nina Waldron |
Irene Witt died September 27, 2001 at the age of 69.
She was born in DeWitt Township on August 9, 1932, the daughter of William and Ida
(Felzke) Seeger. She was a 1950 graduate of Bath High School, a former Tendercare West
employee, a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide and Farm Bureau. Irene
married Lawrence Witt in Lansing on May 1, Also surviving are three daughters, Joann (Lynn) Webster, Julie Witt, all of St. Johns and Jane (Steve) Carpenter of Haslett, one son, Mark (Sharon) Witt of DeWitt, eight grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Lawrence (Lillian) Seeger of DeWitt and sisters-in-law, Eldona Seeger of Bath and Lois (Stuart) Sillman of St. Johns She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Seeger. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2001 at St.
Peter Lutheran Church, burial at St. Peter Cemetery with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth
officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday and Sunday
at the Osgood Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church. Nina Waldron died September 28, 2001 at the age of 98. She was born in Lebanon Township, MI on July 16, 1903, the daughter of Fredrick and Elma (Brooks) Pfeil. She was a schoolteacher for 40 years and principal at Waldron Middle School, a member of Lebanon Ladies Aide, Delta Kappa Gamma and Order of the Eastern Star. Nina married Cyrus Waldron in Lansing on January 24, 1925 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1983. Surviving are daughter-in-law, Dorothy Waldron of Fowler, two grandchildren, Linda (Michael) Penikis of Shawnee, KS and Terry (Chris) Waldron of Pewamo, great grandchild, Krisjanis Penikis of Shawnee, KS. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Jack Waldron. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2001 at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, burial at East Plains Cemetery with Pastor Paul Clark and Pastor Michael Penikis officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Paine-Gillam-Scott Museum. Age 93 of Owosso, Michigan died Saturday. September 22, 2001 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso. She was a Homemaker. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 10:00 A.m. at St. Cyrils Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday 7-9 P.m. and Monday from 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 & 7-9 P.m. A Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 5:00 P.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Anna was born in Greenwich, Pennsylvania on October 21, 1907 the daughter of George & Mary (Moyer) Denovich. She attended Ashley Public Schools. Anna married Rudolph Pokorny in 1928, he died in 1971. In 1976 she married Carl Lindauer and he died in 1986. She was a member of St. Cyrils Catholic Church in Bannister and also the ZCBJ Lodge # 225 in Bannister. Anna Resided most of her life in Ashley & Elsie then moving to Owosso in 1994. Survivors include 1 daughter Patricia (Oldrich) Cech of Owosso, 6 sons Edward (Loretta) Pokorny of Elsie, Rudy (Maxine) Pokorny of Elsie, Eugene (Alice) Pokorny of Owosso, Gary Pokorny of Elsie, Carl (Jeannie) Pokorny of Elsie, Robert Pokorny of Chesaning 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren 1 sister Margaret Osborn of Ashley, and 1 brother Fred Denovich of St. Johns. 1 granddaughter Tonya, 6 sisters & 4 brothers predecease her. Memorials may be made to St. Cyrils Catholic Church or ZCBJ Lodge #225 Bannister. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. David John Nongueskwa was born May 4, 1950, in Lansing; died September 23, 2001, at the age of 51. Mr. Non-gueskwa was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are one daughter, Mashaun (Jan) Trossel and 2 grandchildren, Justin and Jordan all of Lansing; his father, Thomas Nongueskwa of DeWitt; 2 brothers, Michael (Maryann) Gardner of California and Richard (Sue) Nongueskwa, and 1 sister, Diane (Boyd) Curtiss both of DeWitt; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held Thursday, September 27, at 4 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin St., DeWitt. Robert C. Salisbury died Friday, September 21, 2001 at the age of 76. He was born in Marion, MI on November 9, 1924, the son of Arlie and Mable (Lynde) Salisbury. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a retired Oldsmobile Forge employee. Robert married Martha Cooper in Evart, MI on June 5, 1944 and she survives him. Also surviving are three daughters, Karen Garcia, Sharon Salisbury and Dearrell Cobb all of Marion, Cathy Salisbury and Roland Larkins of Ovid, two sons, Ron (Faye) Salisbury of Laingsburg, Larry (Laurie) Salisbury of Elsie, fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four brothers, Richard (Verna) Salisbury, R. Lee (Joyce) Salisbury, Rudy (Loraine) Salisbury all of Marion, MI, Luther Mullen of Ovid, and special friend Betty Blackledge of Marion, MI. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Lee Salisbury, one grandson Scott Seelhoff, and two brothers, Roy and Ralph. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Rick Alcaraz and Pastor Don Blacker officiating. George was born in Corunna, Michigan on March 11, 1931 the son of Anna Makara and Frank Baron. On September 10, 1955 he married Helen Gromaski at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He resided most his life in the St. Johns area. George was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in St. Johns. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict serving two tours of duty overseas. Survivors include his wife, Helen Makara of St. Johns, 4 daughters Denise (Thomas) Roof of Elsie, Renee Ferguson, of Dewitt, Teresa (Jim) Thurlow of St. Johns, Yvonne Makara of Lansing, 3 sons David (Elizabeth) Marka of Sunfield, Michael Makara of Alma, Patrick (Kimberly) Makara of St. Johns, 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters Judith Kasper of Sylvania, Ohio and Sharon Etzel of Toledo, Ohio, 1 aunt Elizabeth Hutchings of Owosso, and 1 nephew and several cousins. Age 74 of Elsie, Michigan died Saturday, September 22, 2001 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, in St. Johns, Michigan. She was a Homemaker. Funeral services will be Tuesday September 25, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel with Pastor Robert McPherson officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday evening 7-9 and Monday from 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 & 7-9 P.m. Margaret was born in Remus, Michigan on October 25, 1926 the daughter of John J. And Pearl May (Markle) Serrels. On December 25, 1942 she married Wesley J. Bush in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She has resided most of her life in the Elsie area. Survivors include one daughter, Sheila (Victor) Lambert of Stockbridge, four sons, Wesley (Julie) Bush of Lake George, Ronald (Regina) Bush of Ovid, Larry (Barbara) Bush of Bannister, and Rick (Evelyn) Bush of Elsie, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her parents, four sisters and five brothers predeceased her. Memorials may be made to Clinton County Home Health Care or The American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Age 100 of St. Johns formerly of Owosso, Michigan died Saturday, September 22, 2001 at Hospice House of Lansing. She worked at J.C. Penny store in Owosso for 12 years and also at Andersons Grocery Store of Corunna and Bradys Grocery Store for 14 years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel with Rev. Fr. William Boli officiating. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be Monday 2-9 with the family present from 2-4 & 7-9 P.m. Bernice was born in Munday Township, Michigan on August 16, 1901 the daughter of Frank & Thresa (Swinderman) Bigelow. On May 17, 1923 she married William M. Raymond in Chesaning, Michigan. He died on February 1, 1978. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, in Corunna, Michigan and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Corunna Chapter. Bernice resided most of her life in the Corunna, Perry and Owosso area. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Hart of St. Johns, and Barbara (Dale) Sworthwood of Owosso, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Bernice is predeceased by a son in law, Ned Hart, one granddaughter Karen English, one brother and one sister. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Lansing Michigan.
