Gerald E. "Jerry" Henning | Josetta M. Ott |
Gerald E. "Jerry" Henning died October 30, 2001 at the age of 74. He was born in St. Johns on June 8, 1927, the son of Leo and Bertha (Anderson) Henning and lived in St. Johns all his life. He was the owner/operator of Henning Trenching & Excavating, Inc., a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He married Virgene B. Miller in St. Johns on September 15, 1951 and she preceded him in death on January 10, 1996. Surviving are three sons, Lynn (Sandy) Henning of Royal Oak, Jack (Libby) Henning of Columbus, OH and Jay (Donna) Henning of St. Johns, one daughter, Beth (Devere) Platz of St. Johns, eight grandchildren, Rico Longoria, Ryan Longoria, Kyle Henning, Katie Henning, Kevin Henning, Justin Henning, Megan Henning and Griffin Henning, eight sisters, Leone (Clarence) Powers of McBain, Gertrude Beechnau of Ravenna, Pauline (Richard) Gion of Ormond Beach, FL, Mary Lou Henning of St. Johns, Rita (Richard) Nowland of Ann Arbor, Joyce (Tom) Wilson of Pinckney, Janet (Gary) Light of Carmel, IN and Betty Robles of Euless, TX, and three brothers, Paul (Ruth) Henning, Dean (Evelyn) Henning, all of St. Johns, and Leo (Barbara) Henning of DeWitt. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 3, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday and Friday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a scripture service 8:00 P.M. Friday and a K of C Rosary 8:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Educational Trust Fund. Josetta M. "Jo" Ott , age 74 died October 29, 2001. She was born in Fowler, Michigan December 27, 1926 the daughter of John A. and Anna (Schneider) Kramer. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society. On November 9, 1948, she married Donald V. Ott and he survives her. Also surviving are their five children, Mark (Janet) Ott of Canton, MI, Christina (Thomas) Woerdehoff of Bridgman, MI, Dan (Kathy) Ott of Stevensville, MI, Jennifer Ott of St. Johns, and Albert (Pam) Ott of Holt, seven grandchildren, Laura, Brian, Eric, Sarah, Heather, Jeffrey, and Emily Ott, one sister, Geneva Wohlscheid of Pewamo, and one brother, Gerald Kramer of Montrose. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Catherine Ott, and three brothers, Roy, Paul and Matt Kramer. A Vigil service will be prayed Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. Education Trust Fund. Kenneth D. Harris, Sr. died October 29, 2001 at the age of 92. He was born in Lansing on March 22, 1909, the son of Clarence and Anna (Stranberg) Harris and lived in Williamston, Lansing and Lake George before coming to St. Johns. He retired from General Motors in 1969 after 33 years of service, was a veteran of the Army National Guard, a member of St. Johns First United Methodist Church, a life member of Order of the Eastern Star Radiant Chapter #79 and St. Johns-Ovid Masonic Lodge #105, was an amatuer radio operator for 75 years and a member of Military Affiliated Radio Service. Kenneth married Ruth Niemann in Williamston on October 6, 1934 and she survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Keith (Barbara) Harris of Clinton Township, Kenneth (Johonna) Harris, Jr. of St. Johns and Kirk (Cherie) Harris of Laingsburg, eight grandchildren, Steven (Cheryl) Harris, Pamela (Mikel) Champine, Tamra (Theodore) Ashley, Andrea Harris, Kenneth D. (Christine) Harris III, Nathan (Tammy) Harris, Kraig D. Harris and Stephanie Harris, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, Eva Traver of Lansing and Leatta Bruetschy of Traverse City and nieces, Mary Jean Traver of Lansing and Ann Martin of Traverse City. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2001 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carol Floyd officiating. The family will receive friends 2-9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic/O.E.S. service 8 P.M. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. David Alcaraz died Sunday, October 28, 2001 at the age of 44. He was born in St. Johns on September 2, 1957 the son of Manuel and Adelina (DeLeon) Alcaraz and lived all his life in the St. Johns and Lansing area. He attended Mt. Hope Church in Ovid and was employed at Cameron Tool Corporation in Lansing. Surviving are 2 sons, Skye and Alec; 9 sisters; and 5 brothers. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and 4 nieces. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2001 at Mt. Hope Church, Ovid with Pastor Rick Alcaraz, officiating, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive friends Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to a trust fund for his children. Richard Wilson, 51, of Mesick and formerly of St. Johns, died Oct. 29, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac after a long illness. He was born Oct. 10, 1950 in St. Johns, the son of Richard and Marian (Roe) Wilson. He grew up in St. Johns, served in the U.S. Army, and lived in California, Hawaii and New York before moving to Mesick five years ago. He worked as a painter and enjoyed fishing. Surviving are three sons, Richard of Ovid, James of St. Johns, and Nathaniel of St. Johns; two daughters, Alicia of St. Johns and Rebekah of St. Johns; one step-son, Isaac of St. Johns; one brother, Joseph of Traverse City; one sister, Denise Beeckman of Mesick; and three grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Hall Funeral Chapel, Manton. Eleanor Hufnagel, Lansing Age 102, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. Eleanor was born December 8, 1898 in Fowler, MI the daughter of Joseph and Helena Sohn. A Lansing resident most of her life, Mrs. Hufnagel was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church for 69 years. Eleanor was an active member and past president in the Alter Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #116, Daughters of Isabella and The League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed playing bingo and fishing. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, Eleanor will be dearly missed by all. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Hufnagel, Sr.; daughter, Eugenia Naert; and son-in-law, Joseph Daly. She is survived by 4 children, Hugo (Alta) Hufnagel, Anita Daly, Louis (Helen) Hufnagel and Joan (Arthur) Trierweiler; son-in-law, Stephen Naert. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 2, 2001, 11 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. William Lugger as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, November 1, 2001, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer-Bush Lansing Chapel where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. In memory of Eleanor, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society-St. Casimir Conference. Richard W. "Dick" Geisenhaver, Lansing Formerly of Brooksville, FL Born July 21, 1929, in Lansing; died October 28, 2001, at the age of 72. Mr. Geisenhaver was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army. He was a builder and developer in the Lansing area in the 1960's and 70's, and moved to Florida in 1977, where he owned and managed several Mobile Home Parks. Mr. Geisenhaver was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Lansing, and the King of Kings Lutheran Church, New Port Richey, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, in 1988, and 1 brother, Kenneth, in 1995. Surviving are 3 daughters, Karen (Charles) Gaskin of Brooksville, FL, Linda (Michael) Thelen of Dimondale, and Patricia (Raymond) Hernandez of Bellevue; 1 son, Dennis (Sue) Geisenhaver of Haslett; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jack (Betty) Geisenhaver of Bath; 1 sister-in-law, Belva Geisenhaver of Oldsmar, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 122 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Lansing, with the Rev. Richard Mittwede and the Rev. Robert Grimwood, officiating. Interment will follow in Gunnisonville Cemetery, DeWitt. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E.
