Timothy Michael Pickell IITimothy Michael Pickell II, age 3, passed away Nov. 7, 1998. He was born Oct. 14, 1995 in Clinton County, the son of Tim and Kristy (Miller) Pickell of St. Johns.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Rikki Pickell, and brother, Josh Zech; his grandpa and grandma, Michael and Wilma Pickell of St. Johns, grandma, Sherry Miller of St. Johns, papa, Charles and Jeannie Miller of St. Johns; greatgrandparents, Berdenia and Don Matice of St. Johns; aunts and uncles, Christine Sytek, Katrina Pickell, Kari Pickell, Jacob Pickell, Desiree' Pickell, Chuck (Monica) Miller, Shawn Ewing; many great-aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many special friends.The funeral service was held Nov. 12 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with the Rev.Tyler Barlage officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos.Ona Belle BarnhartOna Belle Barnhart, 96, of Iron River, died Nov. 5, 1998 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1902 in Petoskey, the daughter of Howard and Mae (Whittaker) Pope. She moved to St. Johns as a child with her parents where she grew up and attended school. She worked for a short time for the telephone company.In February 1920, she married Otto Jacob. The couple made their home in St. Johns. He preceded her in death June 21, 1966. She married Glen Barnhart in 1970; he also preceded her in death.She moved to Curtis, and then to Caspian, prior to becoming a resident at the Iron River Care Center. She had been a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star in St. Johns.Surviving are two sons, Jack Jacob of Panama City, Fla., and Bud Jacob of Iron River; one daughter, Betty Mayse of Lompoc, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.A Memorial Service was held Nov. 11 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, with burial at Bray Cemetery, St. Johns.Violet StewartViolet E. (Phinney) Stewart, 78, of St. Johns, died Nov. 8, 1998. She was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Cadillac, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Holden) Longcor.She graduated from St. Johns High School, County Normal, and Central Michigan University as a teacher. She taught school for 30 years, retiring from Ovid-Elsie Schools in 1984.She married Arnold J. Phinney Aug. 10, 1939. He preceded her in death May 23, 1979. She married Elmer A. Stewart June 20, 1981. He preceded her in death April 7, 1988.Violet was a member of the St. Johns Church of the Nazarene, where she served as Women's Ministries Director; a member of MARSP, Clinton County Extension Club, was a 4-H leader, and did volunteer work at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor and Clinton Memorial Hospital.Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Daniel) Ritter of St. Johns, and Kathleen (Dave) Rozga of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Larry (Bonnie) Phinney and Ron (Delores) Phinney, all of St. Johns; step-daughter, Norma Jean (Charles) Donald of Maple Rapids; two step-sons, Robert Lee (Ann) Stewart of Tennessee, and Leon Dennis (Marlene) Stewart of Florida; 13 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother. The funeral service was held Nov. 11 at the St. Johns Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Keith Sarver officiating. Burial was at South Bingham Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Church of the Nazarene, or the VFW Home Health Equipment Fund.Rufus CaseRufus N. Case, 81, of St. Johns, died Nov. 11, 1998. He was born March 23, 1917, in Laingsburg, the son of Albert and Veta May (Lake) Case.He was retired from General Motors, and was a member of UAW Local 602. He served in World War II, and was a member of VFW Post 4113.Rufus married Marion Secord Jan. 29, 1939, and she survives him. Also surviving are four daughters, Josephine Syers of Ovid, Joan (David) Kelley, and Delores (Al) Denniston, all of Lansing, and Joyce Stewart of St. Johns; two sons, Nelson Case of East Lansing, and Donald Case of Lansing; 18 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; one grandson; one sister, Dorothy Hicks; and brothers, Calvin, and twins, Mervin and Marvin Case.The funeral service was held Nov. 13 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with the Rev.
