Raymond HuhnRaymond L. Huhn, 82, of Pewamo, died Dec. 22, 1998. He was born March 21, 1916, in Portland.Mr. Huhn was a farmer and also worked at TRW, retring from there in 1979. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, and Knights of Columbus #8071. He loved traveling, playing cards, and polka music. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Anna (Lennemann), whom he married June 15, 1942. Also surviving are six daughters, Monica (Mike) Noker of Howell, Jeanette (Marvin) Spitzley of Pewamo, Diane (Roark) Tess of Lansing, Alice (Ken) Kramer of Pewamo, Mary (Chris) Benson and Connie (Joel) Platte, all of Grand Ledge; five sons, Robert (Marilyn Thelen) and Thomas (Carol Weber) all of Pewamo, Richard (Angie Lefas) of Clinton Township, Roy (Elaine Gross) of Lyons, and Carl D. (Janice Ballinger) of DeWitt; 36 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Nurenberg of Ionia, and Marian Schneider of Portland; two sisters-in-law, Alberta Huhn of St. Johns, and Irene Huhn of Portland; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Colleen Spitzley; two brothers, Arnold and Harold Huhn; and two sisters, Minnie Hoppes and Regina Schneider.The funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Charlon O. Mason officiating. The Rite of Committal was held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Pewamo. Arrangements were made by Gorsline-Runciman Co., Neller Chapel, Portland. Hoover, 64, of DeWitt, died Dec. 20, 1998. He was born Dec. 28, 1933 in St. Johns, the son of Howard and Edna (Ketrow) Hoover. He lived most of his life in the DeWitt and St. Johns areas.He retired from General Motors Nov. 1, 1991, after 30 years of service. He was a prior member of East DeWitt Bible Church, and Church of the Open Bible.He was married to Sharon Baker Dec. 15, 1952 at the First Methodist Church in St. Johns, and she survives him. Also surviving are one son, Allen C. and Beth (Walker) Hoover of St. Johns; two daughters, Tina Lee Hoover-Potter, and her fiance John Tribfelner of Ovid, and Rita Ann Hoover of St. Johns; former son-in-law, Jeffrey Potter of Ovid; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Robert, Chris, Carrie, Zachary, Joshua, Salita, Nathaniel, Lucas, Andrew, and Daniel; his parents, Howard (Edna) Ketrow) Hoover of DeWitt; one sister, Norma and Lawrence Andrews of St. Johns; one brother, Thomas and Carolyn Hoover of St. Johns;many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.The funeral service was held Dec. 23 at Smith Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel with Pastor Rick Pardee officiating. Burial was at South Bingham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.Geneita ElseaGeneita B. Elsea, 89, of St. Johns, died Dec.19, 1998. She was born Sept. 8, 1909 in St. Johns, the daughter of Guy and Velma (Smith) Georgia. She lived in St. Johns most of her life.She graduated from Owosso High School and Owosso Bible Holyness Seminary. Geneita was retired from Federal-Mogul in St.Johns, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #79.She married Russell M. Elsea Sept. 29, 1928 in Chesaning. He preceded her in death in 1980.Surviving are one son, William (Mary) Elsea of St. Johns; one daughter, Kathleen Beasley of Harrison; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Myron (Hazel) Georgia of Harrison; and two sisters, Irene (Raymond) Pope and Marie Smith, both of St. Johns. She was preceded in death by one sister, Daisy Jury.The funeral service was held Dec. 22 at Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with the Rev. Paul Daniels officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery.
