August 'Nick' Van Belkum

August N. "Nick" Van Belkum, 74, of St. Johns, died March 16, 1999. He was born Oct. 28, 1924 in Grand Rapids, the son of Louis and Frieda (Price) Van Belkum. He lived in St. Johns since 1947.

Nick was the owner/operator of Nick's Fruit Market in St. Johns. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion Post #153. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

Nick married Dolors Denhof June 5, 1946, in Conklin, and she survives him. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna (Mike) LaBar of St. Johns, and Judith (Dan) Flint of DeWitt; three sons, James (Pam) Van Belkum of Stuarts Draft, Virg., Ronald Van Belkum of Staunton, Virg., and Douglas (Donna) Van Belkum of St. Johns; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a very special aunt, Mildred Van Belkum of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Troy Van Belkum, and one brother, Louis Van Belkum, Jr.

The funeral Mass was celebrated March 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Robert Lunsford officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Homes, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Clinton County.

Marianne E. DeMaria, 68, of St. Johns, died March 17, 1999. The funeral service was held March 20 at ghe Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with the Rev. Fr. Robert Lunsford officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Gerald Roy Eldred, 78, of Owosso, died March 17, 1999. He was a truck driver and mechanic for the former Chippewa Redi-Mix Co., Owosso. The funeral service was held March 20 at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

Grace Willson

Grace Willson, 78, of Durand, died March 18, 1999. She worked at the Ben Franklin Store, Perry and Durand. The funeral service was held March 20 at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

Vera Stinebower

Vera Stinebower, 92, of St. Johns, died March 18, 1999. She worked for Aurora Refinery in Elsie, MMPA in Elsie, and Dr. Slagh. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., March 22, at the Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie. Arrangements were made by the Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Geraldine L. Irrer, 54, of Grand Ledge, died March 14, 1999. She was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Fowler, the daughter of Leo and Virginia (Thelen) Feldpausch. She had lived in Grand Ledge for the past 21 years. Geraldine retired from the Michigan Dept. of Transportation in 1998. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel (Cathy) Irrer of Grand Rapids, and Todd Irrer of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Michelle (Todd) Warstler of Grand Ledge; five grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, Cameron, Aaron, and Nicholas; her parents, Leo and Virginia Feldpausch of Fowler; four sisters, Jane (Jim) Nurenberg, Sandy (Kevin) Thelen, both of Westphalia, Diane (Fred) Piper of Ionia, and Donna (Paul) Hufnagel of Lansing; five brothers, Ray (Karen) Feldpausch, Pat (Linda) Feldpausch, both of DeWitt, Gary (Penny) Feldpausch of Port Charlotte, Fla., Steve (Eileen) Feldpausch and Lee (Linda) Feldpausch, both of Fowler; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass was celebrated March 18 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, with the Rev. Fr. Robert H. McGraw officiating. Burial was at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler.

William Wilson

William E. Wilson, 85, of Elsie and formerly of Shelby Twp., Utica, died March 16, 1999. He was employed by the Packard Motor Co., Detroit, and ITT Avon Tube, Rochester. The funeral service was held March 19 at the Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie. Arrangements were made by Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Delmer Crosslan

Delmer Wayne Crosslan, 87, of Ovid, died March 16, 1999. He worked for Ovid Public Schools in the Maintenance Department, retiring in 1972. The funeral service was held March 19 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating.
