Dean Lowe

Dean Gilbert Lowe, 73, of Lansing, died Feb. 24, 1999. He was born Oct.
12, 1925, in Berkley.

Mr. Lowe was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy,
Pacific Theatre, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a truck driver for
over 30 years in the greater Lansing area. He was a member of the Edwin
J. Leyanna VFW Post 671, DeWitt; past commander of the Ovid VFW Post;
and treasurer of Valley Farms Schools.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ellen; one daughter, Cindy (Ron)
Sadler of Perry; one son, Bill (Debbie) Lowe of North Carolina; six
grandchildren, Jeff, Brian, Brad, and Jennifer Sadler, Heather and Jason
Lowe; two brothers, Kenneth (Cris) of Mancelona, and Ralph (Lorraine) of
Brown City; one sister, Grace (Lou) Kinkelo of Johannesburg;
sisters-in-law, Jean Lowe of Georgia, Lois (Arnold) Kindred of Owosso,
and Barb (Bob) Taft of Ovid; several nieces and nephews; and dear
friends, Jim and Mary Ellen Parker. He was preceded in death by two
sisters and one brother.

Memorial services were held April 3 at the Michigan Automobile Dealers
Association, East Lansing, with special services provided by the Edwin
J. Leyanna VFW Post 671, DeWitt. Arrangements were made by the
Gorsline-Runciman Co., DeWitt Chapel.

Carroll Tyler

Carroll G. Tyler, 65, of Maple Rapids, died March 25, 1999. He was born
Sept. 30, 1933, in Hubbardston, the son of Donald and Marian (Burwell)
Tyler. He lived most of his life in Maple Rapids.

Carroll retired from Federal Mogul in 1994. He was a member of the Maple
Rapids Fire Department.

He married Liane Floate April 12, 1953 in Maple Rapids, and she survives
him. Also surviving are his son, Jeffrey (Tammy) Tyler of St. Johns; two
daughters, Debra (Ron) Warner and Terry (Bill) Collins, both of
Perrinton; eight grandchildren; brother, Ted Tyler of Cleveland, Ohio;
sister, Kay Tyler of Tampa, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents
and two sons, Donald and Gavin.

The funeral service was held March 29 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood
Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, with Pastor Wesley Farrier officiating.
Burial was at Sowle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice for
Clinton County, or the American Cancer Society.

Joyce A. Isham, 60, of Bancroft, died March 24, 1999. She worked at
Langdon Adult Care Home. The funeral service was held March 27 at Smith
Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

Betty Griffin

Betty J. Griffin, 70, of Owosso, died March 25, 1999. She worked for
Electrical Mechanical, Owosso, for 20 years. The funeral service was
held March 27 at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

Charles Glore

Charles R. Glore, 66, of Owosso, died March 28, 1999. He was a computer
specialist. The funeral service was held March 30 at Smith Funeral
Homes, Corunna Chapel.

Josephine Mallory

Josephine Mallory, 70, of Corunna, died March 27, 1999. She was a
homemaker. The funeral service was held March 30 at Smith Funeral Homes,
Corunna Chapel.

Estella Martin

Estella A. Martin, 70, of Fowler, died March 28, 1999. She was born
Sept. 26, 1928, in Lansing, the daughter of Benedict and Margaret
(Halfmann) Thelen. She lived in the Fowler area most of her life.
Estella was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Chrisitian
Mothers, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

She married Eugene Martin Sept. 12, 1950, in Fowler, and he survives
her. Also surviving are one daughter, Lorinda (Jerry) Wohlfert; one son,
Duane Martin, all of Fowler; four grandchildren, Kent, Jacob, Jared, and
Allison. She was preceded in death by one son, Alden Martin.

The funeral Mass was celebrated March 31 at Most Holy Trinity Church
with the Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher officiating. Burial was at Most
Holy Trinity Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Goerge Chapel of
the Osgood Funeral Home, Fowler.

Doris Whitlock Daniels

Doris Whitlock Daniels, school teacher, died March 27, 1999, at Seal
Beach, Calif. She was the wife of Peter Daniels, originally from St.
Johns.

Helen Ranshaw

Helen Ranshaw, 79, died March 27, 1999. She was born March 26, 1920, the
daughter of Donald A. and Eleanor E. (Smith) Brown. She lived in Clinton
County most of her life.

She was a retired chief inspector from Parker-Hannifin Corp., and was a
member of the Pilgrim United Methodist Church.

She married Murl F. Ranshaw Sept. 18, 1937. He preceded her in death
Mary 9, 1988.

Surviving are one son, Lyle (Mary) Ranshaw of St. Johns; four
grandchildren, Darcy Ranshaw of St. Johns, Bruce (Lyn) Ranshaw of
Lansing, Lyle (April) Ranshaw of Ovid, and Josh Ranshaw of St. Johns;
four great-grandchildren, Kristin, Jessica, Caley, and Cody; two
brothers, Donald (Luella) Brown of Perry, and Dale (Janice) Brown of
Manton; two sisters, Madeline Hurt of Clare and Marguerite (Joe) Sarkozi
of Harrison. Helen was preceded in death by her twin sister, Ellen
Brown, and two brothers, Howard Brown and Ford Brown.

The funeral service was held March 30 at the Osgood Funeral Home with
the Rev. Ray Sundell officiating. Burial was at North Brinton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County.

Steven Blood

Steven E. Blood, 45, of Lansing, died March 30, 1999. He was born Feb.
12, 1954 in Lansing.

He was a 1972 graduate of St. Johns High School.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Loretta; four daughters, Melissa
(Jesse) Johnson of South Lyon, Lori, Michelle, and Stephanie Blood, all
of Lansing; one son, Christopher of Lansing; his parents, Richard and
Margaret Blood of DeWitt; four sisters, Sheila (Dan) Quiqley and Dena
(Jerry) Minarik, both of St. Johns, Katrina (Jim) Bishop of Laingsburg,
and Bonnie (Doug) Conrad of Owosso; two sisters-in-law, Ann (James)
Bissell of Mason and Natalie (Barry) DeJaegher of Lansing; three
brothers-in-law, Art Pitchford, Phil (Linda) Pitchford, and Floyd
Pitchford, all of Lansing; mother-in-law, Rose Ann Pitchford; many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent
Blood.

The funeral service was held April 3 at the Gorsline-Runciman Co.,
DeWitt Chapel, with Pastor Olan Thomas of the St. Johns Seventh Day
Adventist Church officiating. Burial was at Wacousta Cemetery, Wacousta.
Memorials may be made to the Blood Children Education Fund, c/o
Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home.

Payton Grams

Payton Nicole Grams, infant daughter of Lorin and Kathleen (Thiel)
Grams, passed away March 30, 1999. She was born Dec. 20, 1998, in
Lansing.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Francis
and Jane Thiel of Grand Rapids, and Robert and Karen Grams of St. Johns;
great-grandparents, Beatrice Grams of St. Johns, and Lorin Bickford of
Ohio; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral service was held April 3 at Pilgrim United Methodist Church
with the Rev. Ray Sundell officiating. Burial was at South Bingham
Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Home. Memorials
may be made to SIDS, or to the family.

William Thompson

William T. Thompson, 88, of St. Johns, died March 31, 1999. He was born
Jan. 6, 1911 in Grand Rapids, the son of William and Alice (O'Connor)
Thompson.

William lived most of his life in Clinton County. He was a retired
farmer.

He married Mildred Jessup Jan. 6, 1937, in Bannister. She preceded him
in death Aug. 22, 1982.

Surviving are one sister, Rose Upton of Fowler; three nieces and three
nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Fergus Thompson, and
one sister, Mary Beard.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., April 5, at the Osgood
Funeral Home, St. Johns, with the Rev. Fr. Robert Lunsford officiating.
Burial was at Sowle Cemetery. A Vigil Service will be held at 3:30 p.m.,
Sunday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, and
from 2 to 4, and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may
be made to St. Jude Research Hospital for Children.

Mary Ewing

Mary F. Ewing, 63, of St. Johns, died March 27, 1999. She was born Oct.
29, 1935 in Alabama. She lived most of her life in St. Johns.
Mary was the operator of Mary's Day Care.

She married James Ewing Feb. 12, 1964, in Kalamazoo, and he survives
her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Donna of
California, Sunday (Andy) Todosciuk, and Sherry Skriba-Ewing, both of
St. Johns; two sons, Larry Scott Ewing of St. Johns, and James
(Christine) Ewing of Texas; seven grandchildren, Kristin, Andrew, Jamie,
Ashley, A.J., Andrea, and Shelby; and three brothers, Owen Hunter,
Billie Hunter, and Nelson Hunter, all of Alabama.

A memorial service was held March 30 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St.
Johns, with the Rev. Robert Ditmer officiating.

Francisco Castillo

Francisco (Frank) R. Castillo, 44, of Elsie, died March 30, 1999. He
worked for Al-Par Peat Co., Chapin. The funeral service was held April 2
at Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Carl Hovey

Carl A. Hovey, 77, of Okemos and formerly of Elsie, died March 30, 1999.
He retired in 1982 from the Ann Arbor Railroad as a dispatcher in the
main office in Owosso, having started as a high school junior in 1938 as
a station assistant and worked at all stations from Toledo to northern
Michigan. The funeral serviced was held April 2 at the Osgood Funeral
Home, St. Johns, with the Rev. Alan W. Kamens officiating. Burial was at
Ithaca Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
