Agnes R. Danley died July 2, 1999 at the age of 86. She was born in Gunnisonville on Oct. 14, 1912, the daughter of Christian and Louise (Schaibly) Kussmaul and lived most of her life in St. Johns. Agnes graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing and was a retired Clinton County Friend of the Court. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and was active in the Red Cross, March of Dimes, U of M Nurse's Association. Agnes married Jack G. Danley in St. Johns on Nov. 12, 1938; and he preceded her in death in April, 1968. Surviving are two sons, David G. (Judith) Danley of Cincinnati, and Thomas E. Danley of St. Johns; twin granddaughters, Kristin (Mide) Jarvie of Rudyard and Cheryl Danley of Cincinnati; two great-grandchildren, David and Leah Jarvie; one sister, Pearl Tucker of Grayling; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth and Gertrude, and two brothers, Arthur and Howard. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Hugh Banninga officiating. The family will receive friends 1-3 p.m. Tues. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clinton Memorial Hospital. Rita B. Butler, 76, of St. Johns, passed away June 30, 1999. She was born in Charleston, Mass., on Sept. 28, 1922, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Walsh) Cavanaugh and lived most of her life in St. Johns. She was a office assistant, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Rosary Altar Society. She married Richard Butler May 24, 1952, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1985. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Anne (Peter) Butler of New York City, Veronica Byland of East Lansing, Theresa Butler of Mackinaw Island; three sons, Michael (Wendy Yamamura) Butler of New York City, Paul Butler of Houston, Texas and Thomas Butler of St. Johns; five grandchildren Benjamin, Pierce, Louise, Blisse and Woodward; and one sister, Eileen Epps of Boston. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Harrington and one brother, Peter Cavanaugh. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., July 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Timothy D. Krzyzaniak officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 Monday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a Rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Monday. Leona A. Miller, 76, passed away June 27, 1999. She was born in Dallas Township on July 2, 1922, the daughter of Leo and Clara )Bauer) Schafer and lived most of her life in the Fowler area. She was a retired inspector for Federal Mogul and was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society and the church choir. She married Vernon Miller in Fowler on Nov. 12, 1938 and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1997. Surviving are two sons, LaVern "Gus" (Lynne) Miller and Gary (Susan) Miller, all of Fowler; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; on sister, Agnes Thurston; and two brothers, Adam (Helen) Schafer and Leroy Schafer, all of Fowler. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Feldpausch. Funeral Mass was held July 1 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher officiating. The family was served by the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes. Suzan Hospodar, 80, of St. Johns, passed away June 29, 1999. She was born Nov. 26, 1918 in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Smac) Krizan and immigrated to the United States in 1938. She owned and operated the former Colonial Restaurant at Clinton Ave. and State Street for 15 years. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and National Slovak Society. She was active with the Senior Citizens Center and the Ladies Guild at the church. She married John Hospodar April 7, 1945 and he preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Nobis of St. Johns and Helen (Jerry Bernath of Portland; one son John (Rosemary) Hospodar of East Lansing; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; on sister, Ann Kubova; one brother John Krzan, both of Slovakia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin, Paul and Steve. Funeral services were July 2 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, and burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. James Henning officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Clinton County, the American Cancer Society or the St. Johns Lutheran Church. The family was served by the Osgood Funeral Home. Benjamin Edward Walker, 61, of St. Johns, passed away June 29, 1999. He was born Dec. 16, 1937 the son of Kenneth and Maude (Sutherby) Walker. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the Class of 1956, was a member of the Price United Methodist Church. He retired from General Motors on Jan. 1, 1997 after 37 years of service. Her married Ethelyn Shumaker on July 30, 1969 at the Price United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ethelyn Walker of St. Johns; one daughter, Beth (Mike) Garcia of St. Johns; two sons, Daniel (Janean) Walker of Ovid and Galyn Walker of St. Johns; three granddaughters, Amanda Walker, Kristen Garcia, and Cassandra Walker; one step-grandson Brandon Lavia; one brother, Marion (Maryjane) Walker of Ovid; one sister, Jane (Herb) Bogan of Carland; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Rodney Walker. Funeral services were held July 2 at Price United Methodist Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Stevens, 28, died June 24, 1999. Funeral services were held June 28 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. Lorraine Currie, 87, of St. Johns died June 26, 1999. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be no viewing or visitation. Dr. Janet Mae Goodrich, 56, passed away Thursday June 17, 1999 at her daughter's home in Maleny, Queensland, Australia. She was born December 8, 1942 in Saginaw. She moved with her family to Elsie when she was six years old. At the time of her death, Janet had published two books: Natural Vision Improvement and Help you Child to Perfect Eyesight without Glasses. Copies of her books will be presented to the Elsie Public Library in her memory. Donation in lieu of flowers may be made in her honor to the Elsie Methodist Church or Elsie Public Library. Rose M. Dvorski, 86, of Bannister, passed away July 1, 1999. She was a former Universal Electric employee. Funeral services were July 3 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, burial at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County. The family was served by the Smith Funeral Home, Elsie Chapel. Pauline B. Moriarty, 87, of St. Johns, passed away June 27, 1999. She was born in Lake Odessa on Nov. 27, 1911, the daughter of Barrett and Carrie (Babcock) Armour. She married Joseph Moriarty on Feb. 18, 1939 and he survives her. Funeral services were June 30 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Amt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Time Knau officiating. (Graham) Hoar, 80, of St. Johns went suddenly to be with our Lord on June 29, 1999. She was born in Gratiot County at Fords Corners, the third of five children born to Hugh and Cornella (Decker) Hafelein. She married James Graham on June 5, 1937. Together they raised three children, Jim, Time, and Ann. After the passing of Jim, she later married Edwin Hoar, June 25, 1982. Funeral services were July 3 at the Osgood Funeral Home, with burial at Eureka Cemetery with Rev. Nancy Besemer officiating. Gertrude May Hofferbert, 90, of Bannister, passed away June 25, 1999. She was born March 22, 1909 in Leroy IL, the daughter of Arthur and Lucy (Notestine) Umstattd. She married Ivan Hofferbert of Dec. 25, 1932 in Elsie; he died March 27, 1988. Funeral services were July 1 at the Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Burial was at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County with Rev. Jana Jirak and Rev. Merlin Pratt officiating. memorials may be made to Bannister united Methodist Church or Gratiot County Meals on Wheels.
