Buddy Holcomb

Buddy B. Holcomb, 75, of St. Johns, died July 8, 1999. He was born March 24, 1924 in Perry, the son of Claude and Laura (Preston) Holcomb. He lived most of his life in St. Johns.
He was a retired Fisher Body employee, a member of UAW Local 603, and St. Johns Church of the Nazarene.
Buddy married Betty Bolf June 12, 1948, in Laingsburg, and she survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Bruce (Christine) Holcomb, Victor "Pete" (Marcia) Holcomb, all of St. Johns, and Buddy Holcomb of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, Travis, Trina, April, Amber, Adam, Megan, and Benjamin; two brothers, Lyle (Janice) Holcomb, and Claude (Donna) Holcomb, all of Laingsburg; two sisters, Lora (Keith) Clark of North Star, and Grace Cook of Laingsburg. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Paul Shoup, Percy Tester, Orson Shoup, Howard Holcomb, Roger Holcomb, and Warren Holcomb; and two sisters, Ruth Bailey and Nina Tester.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., July 11, at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with the Rev. Timothy Cockroft officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., July 10, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Church of the Nazarene, or the American Heart Association.

Frank George

Frank H. George, 82, of Ovid, died July 8, 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a past member of the American Legion and VFW. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., July 24, at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, with the family present from 11 a.m. to the service time. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Ovid Area Ambulance, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Carol Borst

Carol Ann Borst, 46, of Elsie, died July 7, 1999. Graveside services were held July 9 at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie. Memorial services were held July 9 at the Carland Zion Brethren in Christ Church, Carland, with the Rev. Eric Stanton officiating. Arrangements were made by Smith Funeral Home, Elsie Chapel.

William Zemla Sr.

William F. Zemla Sr., 87, of Elsie, died July 7, 1999. He was a farmer and worked for Michigan Milk Producers in Ovid for 30 years, retiring in 1975. The Mass of Christian Burial was held July 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owosso, with the Rev. Fr. David Fisher officiating. Burial was at St. Paul's Cemetery, Owosso. Arrangements were made by Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
