Lorraine Halfmann
Lorraine C. Halfmann, 87, died July 15, 1999. She was born Aug. 23, 1911 in Fowler, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Schafer) Halfmann. She was a retired housekeeper for the rectory at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Owosso. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, and the Ladies Altar Society. Surviving are two brothers, Clement Halfmann of Fowler, and Arthur Halfmann of St. Johns; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Pelon and Rose Fink; and three brothers, Leo, Edward, and Isadore Halfmann. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., July 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, with the Rev. Fr. Timothy D. Krzyzaniak officiating. Burial will be at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., July 17-18, at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. A rosary service will be prayed at 7 p.m., Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation. Dorothy E. Schneider, 83, of Pewamo, died July 16, 1999. She was born March 15, 1916, the daughter of Michael and Eva (Readinger) Wolscheid. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society, and Blue Star Mothers. Her marriage of 49 years to Clarence J. Schneider Aug. 20, 1935, ended with his death Jan. 11, 1985. Dorothy is survived by nine daughters, Carol (Vern) McQueen of Pewamo, Dolores (Larry) Keiffer of Carson City, Patricia (Dewey) Collard of North Carolina, Sharon (Richard) Williams and JoAn (Fred) Wood of Pewamo, Kay (Mark) Klein of Westphalia, Arlene (Tom) Bohen of Carson City, Donna (Scott) McCloud of Riley Township, and Dottie (Randy) Chesney of Laingsburg; four sons, Don (Mary Ellen) Schneider of Westphalia, Mike (Mary Ann) Schneider of Pewamo, Clair (Mary Ann) Schneider of Traverse City, and David (Diana) Schneider of Houston, Texas; 43 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Kohagen. The funeral Mass was held July 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, with the Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Lena Mae Whitefield, 79, of St. Johns, died July 17, 1999. She was born April 9, 1920 in Texas, the daughter of Austin and Annie (Holden) Rumsey. She lived most of her life in Clinton County. She was a member of the Clinton County Extension Club. She was a homemaker. She was married to W.L. "Whitey" Whitefield Aug. 21, 1943, in California, and he survives her. Also surviving are special friends Patricia L. Robins and her two children of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Ronald C. Whitefield, April 17, 1994. The funeral service was held July 20 at Smith Funeral Homes, St. Johns, with the Rev. Ray Sundell officiating. Burial was at South Bingham Cemetery, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to the Clinton County Extension Club. Dorothy E. Tomasek, 67, of Perrinton, died July 17, 1999. She worked as a waitress, cook and bartender at the Roadhouse in St. Johns for 12 years. Memorial services were held July 20 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with Deacon Marvin Robertson officiating. Kathleen Ann Gregory Fedewa, 39, of St. Johns, died July 16, 1999. She was a 1977 graduate of St. Johns High School. Kathleen was a homemaker; she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The funeral Mass was celebrated July 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, with the Rev. Fr. Timothy Krzyzaniak officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Memorials may be given to the family, or St. Joseph Catholic School. Theresa E. Wedley, 52, of Lake Odessa, passed away July 14, 1999, at the University of Michigan Hospital after a long illness. Theresa was a long-time employee of the State of Michigan, working in the Human Resource Dept. for the Michigan Dept. of Transportation and the Secretary of State's office. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Surviving are her husband, Ed Wedley; stepchildren, Ed (Kristie) Wedley, Mark (Jenelle) Wedley, Tammy (George) Skalba, Tim (Tammy) Wedley; grandchildren, Megan, Joseph, Travis, and Taylor; her mother, Dora Pung; brothers and sisters, Joan (Bill) Mattila, Ann Marie (Phil) Schafer, Vern (Stella) Pung, Donna (Ken) Weber, Paul (Cheryl) Pung; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Peggy) Wedley, Susan Wedley, Lois Feguer; and 26 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Pung, and her first husband, M. Ray Engardio. The funeral service was held July 19 at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Lake Odessa. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Westphalia. Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapels, Lake Odessa. Memorials may be made to St. Edward's Building Fund. Herman Willis Flynn, 69, of DeWitt and formerly of Battle Creek and Marshall, died July 17, 1999. He was born Feb. 3, 1930 in Marshall, the son of Genevieve A. Flynn. He was employed by several construction firms as a laborer and also was previously employed with Grand Trunk Railroad. Most recently he worked as a farmhand in the DeWitt area for the past 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was married to Nancy Evon Moody Nov. 27, 1954. Surviving are his daughters, Linda Smith of Lexington, Kent., and Paula Ambs of Battle Creek; a half-sister, Marilyn (JoAnn) Ross of Rome City, Ind.; two step-sisters, Iva Marciano of South Daytona, Fla., and Patricia Wishart of Vandalia; a half-brother, James Way of Burlington; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Flynn; and twin step-brothers, Harold and Howard Way. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., July 27, at St. Mary's Cemetery, Marshall, with the Rev. David Hills of the Climax-Scotts United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements were made by Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek.
