Kellie Sebrell

Kellie L. Sebrell, 19, of DeWitt, died Aug. 22, 1999. She was born Aug. 21, 1980 in Lansing, the daughter of Jim and Pat Sebrell.

She was a 1999 graduate of DeWitt High School and was enrolled at Grand Valley State University. She was a member of the cross country and soccer teams, the National Honor Society and S.A.D.D. She was fun loving, energetic and a devoted daughter, sister, and friend who brought joy to everyone who knew her.

Surviving are her parents, Jim and Pat Sebrell of DeWitt; sister Sherri Sebrell of DeWitt; grandmothers, Laurine Sebrell of Lansing and Evelyn Allan of Coldwater. She is also survived by many loving family members and friends.

The Funeral Mass celebrating Kellie's life was held Aug. 26 at the Catholic Community of St. Jude with the Rev. Daniel Wunderlich officiating. Burial was at DeWitt Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kellie Sebrell Memorial Fund, c/o the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Funeral Home.

Dr. Phillip Cook

Dr. Phillip M. Cook, 71, of Lawrence, Kan., died Aug. 19, 1999. He was born Aug. 29, 1927 in Pewamo, the son of Charles and Matilda Schaefer Cook.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He received his Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine degree from Michigan State University. He was in private practice for 17 years in Marlette. He was employed at several locationa by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture as a program review officer for 13 years, and moved to Kansas more than 10 years ago. He retired in 1992. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.

He married Donna Biergans Aug. 27, 1955 in Lansing and she survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Charles of Frankenmuth, Steven of Park City, Utah, and Joseph of Olathe, Kan.; two sisters, Louise Schreiber of Harlengen, Texas, and Susan Knoll of L'Anse; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 23 at Corpus Chrisit Catholic Church in Lawrence. Memorials may be made to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Building Fund, in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Arrangements were made by Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

 

Glen Schmidtfranz

Glen A. Schmidtfranz, 62, of Bannister, died Aug. 20, 1999. He retired from Conklin Trucking. Funeral services were Aug. 24 at the Smith Funeral Home, Elsie Chapel.

 

Freda Lewis

Freda May Lewis, 90, of Ithaca and formerly of St. Johns, died Aug. 21, 1999. She was born July 28, 1909, in Clinton County, the daughter of Fred and Donna (Williams) Ordiway. She lived most of her life in the St. Johns area.

She married Bryon Lewis Oct. 17, 1929, in Ohio. He preceded her in death July 2, 1986.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Views, Sally (Bob) Mitten, all of St. Johns, and Patricia (Russell) Simmet of Ithaca; one son Thomas (Ann) Lewis of Lansing; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 24 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at Union Home Cemetery with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Center in Ithaca.
