Frank Keelean

Frank E. Keelean, 65, of DeWitt, died Sept. 17, 1999. He was born Aug. 9, 1934, in Ferndale, the son of George and Melba (Sheldon) Keelean. He lived in DeWitt since 1976, coming from Highland Park.

Frank was the owner-operator of Keelean Buick-Pontiac-GMC. He was a former member of Michigan Automobile Dealers Assoc., and was secretary-treasurer for Mid-Michigan Pontiac Dealers Ad Assoc.

He was very active in community and civic organizations. He was a volunteer and supporter of the St. Johns Mint Festival, former member of the St. Johns Rotary Club, member of the St. Johns Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association, former member of the Clinton County Country Club, and one of the founders of the scholarship for technical students at St. Johns High School.

Frank married Mona Holcomb May 21, 1955, in Clarkston, and she survives him. Also surviving are three daughters, Frankie (Gale) Davis, Karen (Todd) Gates, and Julie (Chris) Morey, all of St. Johns; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Craig, Corey, Taylor, Kaylee, and Macee; three brothers, Mark Keelean of Clarkston, George (Patricia) Keelean, and Robert (Margaret) Keelean, all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two sisters, Mary (Frank) Ronk of Clarkston, and Janet (Lewis) Masters of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Craig.

A memorial service is at 11 a.m., Sept. 20, at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with the Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. Graveside services are at 3 p.m., at Lakeview Cemetery, Clarkston. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 19, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Frank Malusek

Frank M. Malusek Sr., 78, of DeWitt, died Sept. 13, 1999. He was born Sept. 1, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Joseph and Anna (Holich) Malusek.

He was a retired rodbuster with Steel Reinforcing Service. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the DeWitt VFW Post #671, St. Johns K of C, and the Ironworkers Union Local #25.

He married Barbara Honey Aug. 28, 1950. She preceded him in death Dec. 20, 1995.

Surviving are three daughters Kathy Malusek and Mary Malusek, both of Lansing, and Patty Robinson of St. Johns; two sons, Frank (Chrissy) Malusek of Grand Ledge, John (Jill) Malusek of St. Johns; seven grandchildren who will miss their Grandpa Cuckoo, Frank and Davey Robinson, Justin and Jordan Malusek, Meghan and Frank Malusek III, Carleigh Hillman; one step-granddaughter Rhonda Mowbry; two step-great-grandchildren Jessie Brooklyn and Brandy Mowbry; one sister Margaret (Carl) Ashley of DeWitt; brother-in-law Don Host of Clare; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Knight and Josephine Host, and one brother Joseph Malusek.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial was at Wilsey Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Jose Mundadan officiating. Memorials may be made to Clinton County RESA. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Homes.

Olive Yurcso

Olive L. Yurcso, 72, of St. Johns, died Sept. 15, 1999. She was born April 26, 1927 in Edmore, the daughter of Peter and E. Lucille (Wright) Hansen.

She was a former employee of the Ben Franklin store, and a retired cook for the Clinton County Jail. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, and was a supporter of Clinton County 4-H.

She married Stephen Yurcso May 1, 1948 in St. Johns. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosalee (Richard) Slevin and Debra Fazakerley; one grandson, Andrew Fazakerley, all of St. Johns; one brother Jack (Kathryn) Hansen of Mt. Pleasant; one sister Rosalie Sauders of St. Johns; one step-sister, Rex Ziska of Cadillac; and step-mother, Betty Hansen of St. Johns.

Memorial services were held Sept. 18 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Memorials may be made to Home Health Care or Clinton Memorial Hospital. The family was served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.

James "Cheech" Miller

James G. "Cheech" Miller, 48, of DeWitt, died Sept. 12, 1999. After a very long battle with cancer, he has finally gotten a well-earned rest with our Lord.

He was a graduate of Alpena Community College, a junior at M.S.U. and employed at Fisher Body. He was an active member of Boy Scout Troop #77, DeWitt, a member of Catholic Community of St. Jude, DeWitt, the Lansing Repeaters Club and Local #602.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles and brothers, Chuck and John.

He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Roseanne; his children, Samantha and Charles; his mother Gertrude Miller; and sister Margaret Miller of Alpena.

The funeral mass was celebrated Sept. 13 at the Catholic Community of St. Jude with the Rev. Daniel F. Wunderlich officiating. The Rite of Committal was held at DeWitt Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the James G. Miller Memorial Fund, c/o Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel. Arrangements were made by the Gorsline-Runciman Co.

 

Patricia Ann Carter Garland

Patricia Ann Carter Garland of Anchorage, Alaska, died Feb. 17, 1999. She was a medical lab technician and homemaker. Memorial graveside services were Sept. 23 at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie with the Rev. Merlin Pratt officiating. Arrangements were made by Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie.

Howard Kebler

Howard Kebler, 72, of Eagle, died Sept. 9, 1999. He was born July 4, 1927 in Eagle son of Nathan and Alta Kebler, and like his father was active in farming all his life.

As a Sergeant First Class he served proudly in the U.S. Army in Korea during the war. He and his wife, Donna, were very much enjoying an active retirement together working around their home and doing some farming in the summer months and spending the winter months in Tucson, Ariz. He enjoyed his work, cooking, playing cards and spending time with Donna, his children and grandchildren, other family members and many, many friends. He leaves behind a loving family to enjoy a lifetime of cherished memories.

He is survived by his wife Donna, this December would have marked their 45th wedding anniversary; four sons Kevin (Kim), Irvin (Susanne), Curtis (Sharon) and Les; five grandchildren; sister Elaine Kruger; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert, Norman and Neil and sister Francis Cusack.

Funeral services were held Sept. 13 at Peters and Murray Funeral Home in Grand Ledge. Burial was at North Eagle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the North Eagle Cemetery Society or to the Sparrow Children's Miracle Network.
