Josephine Curtis, of Elsie, passed away Nov. 11, 1999. She was a homemaker. The funeral service was Nov. 15 at Smith Funeral Home, Elsie.

 

Geraldine "Granny" Maurer

Geraldine "Granny" Maurer, 71, of Corunna, passed away Nov. 12, 1999. She was a housewife. The funeral service was Nov. 16 at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

 

Ellen Hovey

Ellen ArMilla Hovey, 77, of Okemos and formerly of Elsie, passed away Nov. 16, 1999. She lived most of her life in the Elsie area. Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Ithaca Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Kamens officiating.

 

Sylvia "Jackie" Lawson

Sylvia G. "Jackie" Lawson, 79, of Niles, passed away Nov. 14, 1999 following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Wick, W.Va., the daughter of Okey Robinson and Faye Hadley.

She had lived in Niles since 1962 coming from Elsie and Flushing. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles, and the Rebekah Lodge in Elsie. She enjoyed ceramics, traveling by private coach in the United States, and she was active in snowmobiling with the late husband.

She was married Sept. 1, 1939 in Marrietta, Ohio to Virgil Lawson. He preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1994.

Surviving are two sons, James Lawson of Yorktown, Va., Phillip Lawson of Niles; one sister, Darlene Mercurio of Niles; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Robinson of St.Charles; sisters, Gertrude Sanford of Newell, W. Va., Mary Melvin of Elsie, and Shirely Beagle of New Manchester, W. Va. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Nov. 19 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Burial was at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Nolan R. Williams of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church.
