Glenn Hopp

Glenn D. Hopp, 78, of St. Johns, died Nov. 26, 1999. He was born June 11, 1921, the son of John and Bernice (Jacabs) Hopp.

He was an infantryman in World War II receiving the Purple Heart. He retired from General Motors, was a farmer in Riley Township, community and tour bus driver, and a truck driver for Barnard Manufacturing.

He married Lucille Moinet June 11, 1942 and she survives him.

Also surviving are one son, Richard (Sally) Hopp; one daughter, LuAnn (Bruce) Holzworth; two grandsons, Dustin Holzworth and Michael Hopp; and one sister, Gladys (Calvin) Boak of Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 30, at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Elder Earl Barks officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday and Monday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Clinton County, Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, or the charity of donor's choice.

Leona Robinson

Leona R. Robinson, 82, of Lansing and formerly of Ovid, died Nov. 22, 1999. She was a homemaker. Graveside services were held Nov. 24 at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie. The family was served by the Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie.

Henry Witt

Henry A. Witt, 73, of Ovid, died Nov. 23, 1999. He retired from Federal Mogul in 1981. Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at the Houghton-Osgood Funeral Home in Ovid with the Rev. Kay Pratt officiating. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Frances Marsik

Frances Marsik, 89, of Corunna, died Nov. 24,1999. She was a homemaker. Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. The family was served by Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna.

 

Gerald Noonan

Gerald E. Noonan, 77 of Owosso, died Nov. 23, 1999. He retired from General Motors, Flint. Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

 

Enid Hartenburg

Enid (Whetstone) Hartenburg, 78, of Manistique and formerly of St. Johns, died Nov. 22, 1999. She was born June 7, 1921 in Ohio, the daughter of Jesse and Katie (Leethy) Whetstone. She was a life-long homemaker.

She married Max Hartenburg Sept. 21, 1940 in Crystal.

Surviving are two sons Ronnie (Gwen) Hartenburg of St. Johns and Donald (Claudia) Hartenburg of Dorr; daughter Linda (Jim) Glover-Foltz of Lansing; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; son, Larry; four brothers, Merle, Louis, William and Pearl; and great-grandson, Jeremy.

Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Eureka Cemetery with the Rev. James Hartenburg officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

 

Alice Wills

Alice Marie (Pasch) Wills, 61, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Nov. 17, 1999. She was born March 27, 1938, on Floral Avenue, St. Johns, the daughter of Otto and Bertha (Hand) Pasch.

Survivors include son, Steven Robitaille of Riveria Beach, Fla.; grandson Paul Evans; one sister, Eleanor (Eugene) Warren of Diamondale; three brothers, Irvin Pasch of Lansing, Charles (Nancy) Pasch of Chandler, Ariz., and Robert (Lenora) Pasch of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews; many cousins, and one special relative, Roberta Albers of St. Johns.

Cremation took place in Lake Worth, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Dec. 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fowler. Burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Clark and the Rev. Eldor Bickel officiating. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Assc. of Palm Beach City; 205 JFK Dr., Suite B; Atlantis, Fla., 33462-1121.

Dorothy Walker

Dorothy M. Walker, 90, of St. Johns, died Nov. 23, 1999. She was born Jan. 19, 1909 in Victor Township, the daughter of Frank and Sadie (Ranney) Smith. She lived in St. Johns since 1992.

She was a member of the Pompeii Methodist Church, an affiliate member of the United Methodist Church of Englewood, Fla., and presently attended the First Congregational Church in St. Johns.

Her marriage to Basil Walker ended with his death in January 1985.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy (Richard) Cramer of St. Johns; one son, Glenard (Pam) Walker of Cadillac; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Wendell; two brothers, Max and Glen Smith; one sister, Hazel Chalker.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Fulton Center Cemetery with the Rev. Wendy Sue Earle officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church.

Ruby Huss

Ruby A. Huss, 103, of St. Johns and formerly of Maple Rapids, died Nov. 23, 1999. She was born Feb. 29, 1896 in Fulton Township the daughter of William and Lucy Jane (Halstead) Bolyard.

She lived most of her live in Gratiot County, moving to Maple Rapids in 1974. She was a former member of O.E.S. #86 in Ashley, and a member of Honor Rebekah Lodge #194 in Pompeii.

She married Francis Henry Huss, Dec. 12, 1911. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Adrian Huss of Ovid, Ernest (Ellen) Huss of St. Johns, and Francis (Jacqueline) Huss of Ashley; four daughters, Opel (Arthur) Stead of Ithaca, Eleanor (Kenneth) Blonshine and Laura (Ken) Powers, both of St. Johns, and Arnetia Mills of Ashley; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Wood of Middleton; and daughter-in-law Beverly Huss. She was preceded in death by five children.

Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Washington Twp. Cemetery with the Rev. Wesley Farrier officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

 

Douglas Lazell Jr.

Douglas J. Lazell, Jr., 27, of Midland and formerly of the St. Johns and the Elsie area, died Nov. 22, 1999 in Madison County, Ohio, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Dec. 20, 1971 in Owosso to Douglas J. Lazell, Sr. and the former Barbara Hedrich.

He was a self-employed carpenter, and was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved the outdoors.

He is survive by his children, Amber and Christopher Lazell, and their mother, Maureen McDonald of Sanford; his parents, Douglas J. Sr., and Sue Lazell of Perrinton, and Barbara and Al Alexander of Sanford.; grandparents Adam and Mary Hedrich of Gladwin; half brother Phillip Morse; step-brothers Raymond, Randy, Philip and Eric Heinlen; step-sister Angie Heinlen Schultz and many aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 4,at North Star Cemetery with Elder Earl Banks of the Church of Christ officiating. Contributions may be made to the family. The family was served by the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns Chapel.

Joshua Lohrer

Joshua Wayne Lohrer, 22, of Perrinton, passed away Nov. 22, 1999. He was born Jan. 16, 1977 in Carson City, the son of William and Robin (Johnson) Lohrer.

He lived most of his life in Gratiot County and graduated in 1995 from Fulton High School. He worked for Lohrer Brothers Logging Company.

He married Heather Stiles June 10, 1995 in Auburn, N.Y., and she survives him. Also surviving are two daughters Jessica and Erica, both at home; parents William and Robert Lohrer of Perrinton; two brothers Justin (Jessica) Lohrer of Ithaca, and Joel Lohrer and Carrie Roberts of Ovid; grandparents, Ron and Beverly Johnson of St. Johns, Melvin and Marilyn Lohrer, Ed and Rosemary Lawrence all of Ithaca; great-grandparents Robert and Hazel Johnson of Maple Rapids; aunts, uncles, and four nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one uncle, Gary Lohrer; great-grandparents Gene and Florence Lohrer, Charles and Crystal Patterson, Harry and Loretta Vaughn and Minnie Johnson.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at Smith Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, burial at Fulton Township Cemetery in Perrinton with Pastor Randy Stehouwer officiating. Memorials may be made to a trust fund for his children's education. Checks can be made out to the Bank of Alma and left at the funeral home.

Leo Rothe

Leo H. Rothe, 88, of Athens, Ohio, formerly of Corunna, passed away Nov. 18, 1999. He was a health inspector for Shiawassee County for 32 years. Funeral services were at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.

 

Lois Myers

Lois P. Myers, 87, of St. Louis, passed away Nov. 22, 1999. She was a bookkeeper for the St. Louis Creamery. Funeral services were Nov. 24 at Alward-Carter Funeral Home, St. Louis.

June Dedyne

June I. Dedyne, 87, of St. Johns, passed away Nov. 21, 1999. She was born June 28, 1912 in Gratiot County, the daughter of Durwood Ney and Maud (Garlock) Tansley. She lived most of her life in St. Johns.

She was the owner/operator of Dedyne Grocery Store for 18 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She married Edmond "Emil" Dedyne. He preceded her in death June 14, 1985.

Surviving are two son, James (Frances) Dedyne of Fowlerville, and Robert (Marsha) Dedyne of St. Johns; six grandchildren, Steve (Dorothy) Dedyne, Marilyn (Tim O'Neill) Dedyne, Connie (Pete) Roush, Wayne (Tracy) Dedyne, Jim (Heather) Dedyne, and Christine (Michael) Thompson; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Dedyne; and two cousins, Howard Walker and Helen Crabb.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Timothy D. Krzyzaniak officiating. Burial was at Wacousta Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clinton Memorial Hospital, Hospice for Clinton County, or St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Home.

Alice Hicks

Alice M. Hicks, 59, of St. Johns, passed away Nov. 21, 1999. She was born Feb. 2, 1940 in St. Johns,the daughter of William and Allie (Wheeler) Bellingar, Sr. She lived most of her life in the St. Johns area.

She was a housewife and bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, a Clinton County 4-H leader and a 4-H clown.

She married Kenneth Hicks in St. Johns Jan. 31, 1959. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1994.

Surviving are one daughter Lisa (Gregory) Hicks-Betz; one son Tom (Monique) Hicks; four grandchildren, Kayelene, Rachel, Carmen and Amanda Hicks, all of St. Johns; two brothers, Robert (Judy) Bellingar of St. Johns and William (Patricia) Bellingar, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; and her mother, Alice Brimley of St. Johns. She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services were Nov. 24 at the Osgood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Burial was at South Bingham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

Irene M. Diehm

Irene M. Diehm, 78, of St. Johns, passed away Nov. 20, 1999. She was born September 3, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Pearl (McCulloh) Nunemaker. She lived most of her life in the St. Johns area.

She was a homemaker and a member of DeWitt Community Church.

She married Gerald Diehm in Lansing, Aug. 30, 1940, and he survives her. Also surviving are her son, Arkie (Darlene) Diehm of Bardenville, Wis.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Iola Slagell of St. Johns; two brothers-in-law, Stuart (Jean) Diehm of Lansing, and LeRoy Miller of DeWitt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Venora Pearl.

Funeral services were Nov. 23 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at DeWitt Cemetery with Rev. Sam Wenger and Rev. Murl Eastman officiating. Memorials may be made to DeWitt Community Church or Hospice for Clinton County.

Mable Ingalls

Mable E. Ingalls, 99, of DeWitt, passed away Nov. 22, 1999. She was born June 26, 1900 in Riley Township, the daughter of James Albert and Nina (Stevens) Craun.

She was a homemaker and worked for the J.W. Knapps Company. She was a member of the Wacousta United Methodist Church, Spring Creek Circle, Gold Star Mothers (WWII) and the Wacousta O.E.S.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D., in 1958, and Charles J., in 1994.

Surviving are one daughter Arlene (Vernon) Schrader of DeWitt; one son, Larry (Pam) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Richard, Randy, Kim, Ann, Wendy, Lisa, Laura, Sara and Christopher; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Nov. 24 at Wacousta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lyle Heaton, Pastor, officiating. Memorials may be made to the church. The family was served by the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel.
