Readers frustrated with Charter

We like your comments about the lousy cable service St. Johns is being provided.

We've learned that if you call Charter and don't select any of the options they give you(press 1, etc) eventually you'll get a live person. You can then explain the problem which they are totally unaware of.

It seems that no one is watching the store. You can then go down to the City Offices and register a complaint with them which they will fax to Charter. This doesn't do much good, but it does give you some satisfaction that at least you've registered a complaint.

After the poor service during the month of December, I deducted $6 from my bill. We'll see how that flies with Charter. Then the installer and troubleshooter out of Owosso called me, but of course all the problems were nothing he could do anything about.

The City Manager advised us that Charter has 3000 customers in St. Johns. We pay $53 and some change per month. That figures out to roughly $159,000 per month or nearly $2,000,000 a year that Charter is sucking out of St. Johns for this lousy service.

It seems we can't get out of the franchise agreement with Charter for 10 years thanks to the Federal Government -- or so we’re told.

Keep up the good work. We enjoy your pictures and weekly comments.
