Pre-Reader Storytimes Independent listeners ages 4 6 are invited to join us @ Briggs Public Library for the Fall Pre-Reader Storytimes, "Monkeying Around." Registration opens Tuesday, September 16, for two sessions on Tuesdays, October 14 November 18. Select either 10:30-11:00 a.m. or 1:30-2:00 p.m. for featured stories, activities, music and crafts. Registration is free but required for these quality, age-appropriate programs. Die Cuts Available Buses, alphabets, apples and more are available for minimum donations at the Library Desk. $3.00 is requested for large packages and $2.00 for small packages of cut-outs. Useful for scrapbooking, name tags, craft projects and for pure fun, the die cuts help us raise funds for childrens programming. Remember we have a wide range of dies available to all community members for the cost of your time and the provision of your own paper. For more information, ask at the Library Desk. Jonathan Rand Comes to St. Johns In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Briggs Public Library, well-known Michigan Childrens Author, Mr. Jonathan Rand will be live and in-person at the St. Johns Banquet and Conference Center on Thursday, October 2. Seating is anticipated for 350 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Mr. Rand will have copies of his popular Michigan Chillers and American Chillers books available for purchase beginning at 6:00 p.m., with an author program to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Banquet Center. This wonderful opportunity is provided to the St. Johns Community for no program fee thanks to the underwriting of the Briggs Public Library Foundation. Final Summer Prizes for 2008 Over 500 participants of various ages were able to "Catch the Reading Bug" this summer at Briggs Public Library thanks to sponsorship from Biggby Coffee and the many people who contributed to donation jars over the course of the year. Closing Adult guessing contest winners are Jennifer Beagle and Mandy LaBean. Final Reading Contest drawing winners for August include Janet Coffman, Liz Coffman, Sam Griffet, Stephanie Hein, Helen Boyle, Selina Coon, Amy Gross, Ann Parker and April Wilson. Grand Prize Adult Reading Contest Winner of a $20 Chamber Bucks Certificate is David Coffman, with Runner-Up $15 Certificate winner Stephanie Hein and Honorable Mention $10 Certificates going to Kelly St. George, Larry Ciolek and Scott Mohre.
