Helen Post to celebrate 100th birthday
Celebrate with her on Sept. 14
by Art Wainwright

A special lady in the St. Johns community will be honored next month for her 100th
birthday.
Helen Post of Greenbush Township, St. Johns was born there on September 10, 1908. A
special celebration in her honor will be held four days later on Sunday September 14th at
the Greenbush United Methodist Church on Marshall Road, six miles north of St. Johns and
one mile east of U.S.-127. Following the Worship Service at 11:30am, a Potluck dinner will
be held in her honor.

Helen grew up on a farm, and at the age of five learned how to play the piano. She's been
playing ever since at her church and at area schools.
She has many memories of how life was in the 1900's up to the present. Helen graduated
in 1926 and just a year later found herself as a teacher where she continued teaching
until her retirement in 1970 after thirty three years of service. Many of Helens
years were spent setting up a special program for extremely handicapped children. A
combination of teaching skills and her musical talent was a rewarding experience for her
and her pupils.
Helen continues to use her many abilities for her local church where she has been a member
since the age of twelve. She has dedicated her whole life to caring for others and still
continues at the age of 100.
The public is invited to her special day, September 14, 2008 at the Greenbush United
Methodist Church.
