Terry K. Alverson, DeWitt, age 68. A loving
husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on January 8, 2002. Born January 2,
1934, Mr. Alverson served as a minister for nearly 50 years. He was a minister of Buchanan
Church of Christ, Buchanan, Michigan, Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, Mt. Pleasant,
Michigan, Fort Lauderdale Christian Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Garden Park Church
of Christ, Toledo, Ohio, Bethel Church of Christ, Ada, Ohio and DeWitt Community Church,
DeWitt, Michigan. A man who was best known as a servant of others, Mr. Alverson spent his
life counseling, encouraging and giving to his community. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed
attending football, basketball, his grandchildren's soccer games and playing golf with his
cousin Jean Ann Proseus.
Mr. Alverson is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Angella Oliver and her husband ken of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew and his wife Tracey of Findlay, Ohio, Amelia Applebaum and her husband, Edward of Chicago, Illinois, Annette of Swanton, Ohio; grandchildren, Joseph, Emily and Benjamin; brothers, Woody and Quentin. Funeral Services will be celebrated Saturday, January 12, at 11 a.m. at DeWitt Community Church, 505 E. Webb Road, DeWitt, MI, with Jerry Paul, Minister of Christ's Hope Ministries and Church as celebrant. Interment will follow in Rose Cemetery, Laingsburg. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin, DeWitt, Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Stewart, Perrinton, died January 9, 2002 at the age of 76. He was born in Clinton County on December 9, 1925, the son of Archie and Ethel (Skinner) Stewart and lived all his life in Clinton and Gratiot Counties. He was an operating engineer in highway construction for 30+ years, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Operating Engineers #324, First United Methodist Church Maple Rapids, Elf Khurafeh Temple, Masonic Lodge #306 Carson City, O.E.S. Radiant Chapter #133 Elsie and Perrinton V.F.W. Mark Daniels Post #1735. Wilbur married Winnifred Schulze in Angola, IN on July 2, 1949 and she survives him. Also surviving are one son, C. Gordon (Judy) Elliott of Lansing, two daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Kindel of Maple Rapids and Nanette (Roy) Gerring of South Boardman, MI, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2002 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, burial at Payne Cemetery with Rev. Martin Cobb officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. Brandon Edward Bartlett, DeWitt, a loving son, brother, grandson, and nephew passed away on January 7, 2002 at the age of 16. Brandon was born May 28, 1985 in Carthage, TX, and attended DeWitt High School, where he was a former member of the wrestling team. He enjoyed all sports, especially hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, bowling and riding motorcycles. His joking around, laughter, and big heartedness will always be remembered and missed. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edward Bartlett and Nelson Dickerson. Surviving are his parents, James and Sandra; sister, Janie; grandparents, Ben and Kay Siniarski of Laingsburg and Janie and Bruce Grell of Turner, TX; great-grandmother, Kathryn Bartlett of DeWitt; aunts and uncles, Kim and Darryl Brija of Potterville, Donald Bartlett of Bath, Debbie Bartlett of Charlotte, Lisa Siniarski of Burton, Pam and Doug Smith of Lake George, Polly and Royce Ferguson of Turner, TX, Cindy and David Watson of Lone Oak, TX, Tim and Anna Dickerson of Carthage, TX, and Mark and Lynn Dickerson of Henderson, TX; infant nephew, Matthew; and numerous cousins. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 11, at 1 p.m. at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt, with the Rev. Dwight Ezop officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin St., DeWitt, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Sturgis, Suite 3, St. Johns, MI, 48879, in memory of Brandon Bartlett. Age 78 of St. Johns, Michigan died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at her home. She was a homemaker. Services were private. Alma was born on January 12, 1923 in Dehue, West Virginia, the daughter of Oscar Edwin and Thelma K. (Moore) Carlson. She graduated from Mann High School in West Virginia. On September 14, 1946 she married Max R. Bashore in Angola, Indiana. She resided most of her life in St. Johns, Michigan. Survivors include her husband, Max R. Bashore of St. Johns, 1 daughter, Kathy (Chuck) Bashore Golden of Mason, 2 sons, Gary Edwin (Nancy) Bashore of Fenton, Rusty (Dee) Bashore of St. Johns, 1 sister, Betty Shepler of Lansing, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Oscar & Thelma Carlson. Memorials may be made to Clinton County Hospice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Nadine (Billips) Fenton died January 6, 2002 at the age of 44. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 27, 1957 and lived in Lansing most of her life. Surviving are her caregiver, partner, and friend in her life, Jessie L. Brown, two daughters, Bianca and Jessica, three grandchildren, mother, Mary Jane Billips of Lansing, six sisters, four brothers, several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. Funeral services will be 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at Mt. Hope Church, Lansing, burial at Deepdale Cemetery with Pastor Clyde Harris officiating. Ron worked for Builders Square in Lansing. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. At United Church of Ovid. Pastor Rob McPherson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Ronald was born in Laingsburg, Michigan the son of Ira Vern & Cecile Grace (Heck) Gregory on October 29, 1935. He married Kay Fruchey in Corunna, Michigan on April 2, 1981. Survivors include his wife Kay of Ovid, 2 sons Justin & Kyle Gregory of Ovid, 1 sister Carol & Jim Hertz of Henderson, MI, 1 brother Melvin H. & Celia Gregory of Owosso, MI. His parents and 1 sister Lela Jones predeceased him. Memorials can be made to his family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Robert M. Dikeman, 82, of St. Johns and formerly of Birmingham, died Jan. 4, 2002. He was a World War II veteran. He was a banker with Coamerica Bank, retiring in 1981. He is survived by his four children and three grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was held Jan. 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to Sparrow Hospice House or the Briggs Public Library, St. Johns. Age 77 of Ovid died Friday, January 4, 2002 at Ovid Healthcare Center in Ovid. Robert was a retired plasterer in the construction business. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 7, 2002 at 11:00 A.m. at First Baptist Church in Ovid. Pastors Dennis Boonstra & Pastor Jeff Gunderman will officiate and burial will be in the Eureka Cemetery in Eureka, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 P.m. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan the son of Roy Francis & Ethel May (Johnson) Green. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1942. On October 13, 1946 he married Lois Perry in Levering, Michigan. Robert served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church and he served as a deacon in his church. Survivors include wife Lois of Ovid, MI 3 daughters Linda & Ted Deur of Newago, MI, Laura & David Dickey of Camden, MI and Barbara & John Miller, Riverdale, MI 1 son Robert Ronald & Carol Green of Olathe, KS 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, 1 sister Virginia & Rev. Don Miller of Vasser, MI, 2 brothers Harry Green of Garden City, MI, Don & Faye Green of Lansing, MI and several nieces and nephews. His parents and 1 brother predecease him.
