Lois Raye (Sue) Glowacki Lois Raye (Sue) Glowacki, 63 died Saturday March 2, 2002. Born October 12, 1938 in St. Johns the daughter of Orlo & Evelyn (Purvis) Good. Sue graduated from St. Johns High School and on Oct. 20, 1956 she married Joseph Glowacki in St. Johns. She retired from the State of Michigan, Dept., of Treasury and was a homemaker. Survived by husband Joe Daughter Renee & William Thelen-St. Johns Grandsons, Nathan Thelen & fiancée Amy M. Fisher and Adam Thelen all of St. Johns. 2 sisters Georgia Diehl-Maple Rapids and Diana & Kevin Baldwin of Eaton Rapids. Funeral services will be held at Osgood Funeral Home on Tuesday March 5, 2002 at 11:00 A. M. with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday and Monday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice House of Mid Michigan. Carol S. Desprez, 57 died Thursday Feb. 28, 2002. Born September 14, 1944 in St. Johns, Michigan the daughter of Gaylord D. and Cleo C. (Moinet) Desprez. She was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church and a former Vision Technician with the Mid-Michigan District Health Department. Carol is survived by her daughter, June (Leonard) Williams of St. Johns and her son, Jeffrey Pearson of Warren, five grandchildren, Ethan & Brandon Williams, and Chelsey, Katelyn, & Beth Anne Pearson, one sister, Laree Geller of St. Johns and one brother, Gayle (Phyllis) Desprez of Frederic, Michigan. Also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Raymond Geller. Funeral Services will be Monday March 4, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Pilgrim United Methodist Church, burial at South Bingham Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Sundell officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Saturday and Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim United Methodist Church. Helen R. Fowler, 94, of St. Johns, passed away Feb. 27, 2002. Helen was born Nov. 10, 1907 in St. Johns, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur and Grace Stevens. Helen graduated from County Normal and worked many jobs, starting out at the telephone company. Later on she worked at Sears and Clinton National Bank where she retired at the age of 75. She then finished out her working career as the secretary for the First Congregational Church and was there for 13 years. She was always active in church and was a member of the Mabel Maier Division and Vespers. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Keith Murray; four granddaughters, Kris (Jeff) Koenigsknecht, Lorene Knight, Kathy Paradise and Julie (Dennis) Angell. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, Zack, Josh, Ben and Miranda Ernst (Matt Smith), Jason and Shelly Knight, Aaron and Tyler Paradise, Ashley and Rachel Angell (Nathan Goodrich); son-in-law, John Franke; brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Janese Stevens. Helen was a spirited, hard-working, dedicated woman who had a pioneer heart. She was happiest doting on her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Her baking was world class and her specialty was "grandma's famous sugar cookies." She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling with her friends who enjoyed many adventures while on their yearly color tours. Helen, beloved by family and friends alike, was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Charles; daughter Phylis Franke; sisters Catherine Stevens, Gladys Sweet and Geraldine Halteman; and brother Mike Stevens. Funeral services were held March 1 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Olson officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church or to Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor. Rudolph Rieves died February 26, 2002 at the age of 94. Born December 23, 1907 in Russia, the son of Andrew and Amelia (Stach) Rieve. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the U.A.W. Local #602, was a farmer and retired from Fisher Body. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. Rudolph married Rosemary Phelps in August 25, 1929 and she preceded him in death May 25, 1989. He is survived by two sons, Ronald (Patricia) Rieves of Dewitt and Russell Rieves of St. Johns, five grandchildren, Roxanne (James) Gleason of St. Johns, Russell (Jean) Rieves, Jr. of Dewitt, Renee (Phil) Taft of Warren, Randall Rieves of Lansing and Ryan Rieves of Colorado, three great grandchildren, and two sisters, Flo Klinger of Grand Blanc and Gussie Lee of California. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 1, 2002 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. George Brinley officiating. Age 92 of Bradenton, Florida passed away Thursday, February 21, 2002 at Asbury Towers in Bradenton. She was a Registered Nurse. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Merlin Pratt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-9 P.m. Mrs. Wulff was born on December 17, 1909 in Shiawassee County, Michigan the daughter of Ralph Calvin and Lydia Ann (Field) Woodard. She attended and graduated from Elsie High School and E. W. Sparrow Hospital Nursing School. On July 21, 1938 Elgin married Wilbur A. Wulff in Petoskey, Michigan. He died in 1973. She was a member of the Elsie United Methodist Church. Elgin was a member of Edward W. Sparrow Hospital Alumni Association and also a member of United Methodist Women Association. She resided in Elsie from 1909-1928, in Lansing, Michigan from 1928-1970 then moving to Florida in 1970. Survivors include; three brothers Walter Woodard of Midland, Lester Woodard of Elsie, Ralph Woodard of Flint, three sisters, Florence Reagh of SanRosa, CA, Dorothy Yerrick of Atlanta, MI, Joyce Curtis of Mesa, AZ, special sister in law Glenna of Cape Coral, FL and many nieces and nephews. Elgin is predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Wilma Gieger, and Josephine Oakley, and one brother Clayton Woodard. Memorials may be made to the Elsie United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Chapel. Carlynne Kay Rounds, Bath, Age 39 died February 24, 2002, after a battle with cancer. Born August 18, 1962, in Saginaw, MI, Carlynne was a graduate of Sexton High School class of 1980 and was employed with Lansing Management. Surviving are 2 daughters, Alexandra and Jessica Rounds; father, William K. (Linda) Brown and Cam J. Brown; 2 sisters, Kristin (John) Marshbanks and Traci (Jayson) Coe; 2 step-sisters, Teresa (Jim) Rowley and Toni (Mike) Courter; 2 step-brothers, Darin (Renee) Scriber and Danon Scriber. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 28, 10 AM, at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, MI. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the education of her children in memory of Carlynne. Barbara A. (Stiffler) Jantzen, 62, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away February 23, 2002. She was born June 8th in St. Johns, Kansas and was a long-time resident of St. Johns, Michigan. An early childhood educator, Barb was a preschool teacher/director at Jack and Jill Nursery School in St. Johns. While living in Arizona she served as Team Leader for the Office of Childcare Licensure of the State of Arizona. She taught by example, inspired all and led with a smile. She possessed a deep faith in God and love of family. She is survived by her loving husband Jens Jantzen of Phoenix; her mother, Helen Johnson; daughters Cam Stiffler and Chris (Mark) Grennell; grandchildren Zack, Zane and Zarren Grennell; a sister, Bette (Ben) Munger, all of St. Johns, MI; niece, Heidi (Andrew) Sung of Bethesda, MD and nephew, Chad Munger of Chicago, IL. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Richard Johnson. Memorial services will be held at the St. Johns Congregational Church on Saturday, March 2 at 4 P.M. Casey Lynn Kalso, Dewitt, Michigan Age 3, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 at her home.Surviving her is her mother, Christine Kalso, DeWitt; Grandparents, Russell and Juanita Kalso, St. Johns; Uncle Russell Kalso, St. Johns; Great-grandparents, Patsy and David Lovely, Holt; many great Aunts, Uncles and cousins. She attended and graduated from Bath High School. She was an honored queen of Jobes daughters at the age of 17. She resided most of her life in the Bath area. Survivors include her 6 children, John Kiddle of Florida, Judy & Ben Coffin of Ionia, Marilyn & Steve Dalman of Dewitt, Christy Neff of Potterville, Melanie Redmond & special friend Jeff Malek of St. Johns, Rebecca Redmond of Ovid, 12 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters, brother & sisters, John & Patti Malcolm of Lansing, Bruce & Carolyn Malcolm of West Virginia, Melvin Malcolm of West Virginia, David & Candy Malcolm of Lansing, Sharon Lewis of West Virginia, Melody Calacino of West Virginia, Alberta Lovegrove of Bath, and special sister in law, Donna Malcolm of Potterville. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 sons, Ron Weeks in 1981, and Bruce Redmond in 1991, also a brother, Maxwell Malcolm in 2001. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born in Elsie on December 31, 1924, the son of Onas P. and Thelma I. (Doten) Baese. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion having served as a Sgt. in US Army during WWII. Bob was a retired quality control manager at Federal Mogul Manufacturing. He married Shirley M. (Bulock) Merignac April 28, 1979. Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley Baese of St. Johns, children, Peggy (Steve) Marek and Cathy (Art) Gallegos, of Lansing, Linda (Leonard) Huyck of Ovid, Lynn Baese of East Lansing, Marilee (Rick) Zruna of Owosso, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Bob also has seven brothers, James (Shirley) Baese, Eldon (Jean) Baese, Lewis (Dorothy) Baese, Gale (Marcy) Baese, Merle (Carol) Baese, all of Elsie, Richard Baese of Florida and Owen (Bonnie) Baese of Maple Rapids, three sisters, Mary Lou Hanold of Elsie, Onalee (Jerry) Austin of Lansing and Diane (Dick) Bates of Elsie and one sister-in-law, Dian Baese, of Owosso. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Baese. Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County. Leonard Frank Goodman, age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2002. He was born July 25, 1917. Mr. Goodman was a retired farmer. He is survived by five sisters, Loretta Schneider of Lansing, Agnes (Joe) Gasses of Grand Haven, Vera Goodman, Joan Goodman of Cerritos, CA and Sister Christine Marie Goodman of Racine, WI, one brother, Roman (Crystal) Goodman of Lansing, five nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Mary (Simon) Goodman, one brother, Elmer Goodman and one sister, Leona Frechen. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Ingham County. Bruce L. Irish died February 21, 2002 at the age of 66. He was born in DeWitt on June 10, 1935, the son of Clayton and Sylvia (Suter) Irish and lived in St. Johns most of his life. He was a farmer, a school bus driver for 30 years and a member of Price United Methodist Church. Bruce married Gladys Hainer in St. Johns on December 9, 1951 and she survives him. Also surviving are Judy (Dan) Matice, Bruce Jr. (Cindy) Irish and Annette (Greg) Pfaff, all of St. Johns, grandchildren, Laura (Gary) Forbis, Jim Matice, Emily Irish, Andy Irish, Megan Pfaff, Alex Pfaff, Jim Pfaff, Christopher Matice and Brianna Matice, and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Adam Matice in 1990. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Richard was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 15, 1934 the son of William Frank and Sophia (Gall) Zemla Sr. He married Mary OTool she predeceased him. He then married Terry Wood on September 16, 1980 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Owosso. Richard was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing. He resided most of his life in the Shiawassee County, Michigan. Survivors include his wife, Terry Zemla of Elsie, 4 daughters, Theresa Jones of Elsie, Annette & Carl Thornton of Elsie, Diane & Greg Mark of Utah, Jodi Turner of Texas, 4 sons, Mike & Gina Zemla of Bannister, Rick & Val Zemla of Elsie, Chuck & Carol Zemla of St. Johns, Jason & Tammie Wood of Elsie, 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 1 brother, William & Kathy Zemla of Elsie, and 1 stepbrother Larry Spaleny of Owosso. Delores Elaine "Bootsy" Davis, Stanton, Formerly of DeWitt A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister went to be with her Lord on February 20,2002, with her family by her side, at the age of 69. Mrs. Davis was born February 4, 1933, in DeWitt, and was a resident of DeWitt for 60 years before moving to Stanton where she had resided for the past 9 years. She enjoyed playing the piano, baking, gardening, and had been a devoted member of the Church of God for 43 years.
