Priscilla Schutzenhofer

Priscilla Schutzenhofer, 62 died March 19, 2002.  She was born Aug. 5, 1939 in St. Johns the daughter of Irving M. & Dorothy G. (Fitzpatrick) Eaton. She graduated from St. Johns High School and had worked as a waitress at the Wheel Inn for several years and then in the accounting dept for Marriott Hotels in Florida.

Survived by sons James & Elizabeth Schutzenhofer of Saugatuck MI , Richard & Amy Schutzenhofer of Schaumburg, Illinois, Gerald & Annette Schutzenhofer Jr. of Kennewick, WA, 7 grandchildren, her mother Dorothy Eaton of St. Johns, sisters Joan & Bernard Jorae, Carolyn Spitzley, Rosemary and Bill McCarthy, all of St. Johns;   Sharon and Ingram Ragoonan of Lansing and Elizabeth and Gary Lehman of Indian River. Priscilla was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 23, 2002 at Osgood Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Carol Floyd officiating.  Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.  The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Ruth Hampton

Ruth Hampton, 71 died March 21, 2002.  She was born October 1, 1930 in Weeksbury, Kentucky the daughter of Jefferson and Cora (White) Boyd.  On July 2, 1952 she married Willie Hampton in Kentucky.  He preceded her in death in 1987.  Ruth was a homemaker.

Survived by children  Carol & Randy Snider of Ovid,  Harold Hampton of Ludington,  Fred & Susan Hampton of Owosso, David Hampton of Ovid,  Stanley Hampton of Ovid,  Willie Hampton Jr.of Ovid, daughter-in-law Diane Hampton of Ovid; Stepchildren  Billy and Elmo Hampton of Lansing,  Dean and Juanita Hampton of Williamston,  Ronnie Hampton of Somerset, Kentucky,  Gary and Cheryl Hampton of Lansing,  Sybil & Theodore Stevens of Oneida, Tenn., 24 Grandchildren,  20 Great-grandchildren, 3 sisters Mary Potter of Virginia; Martha & Lawson of Kentucky, Lana and O.C. Hall of Ohio, 2 Brothers Willie Boyd and Ernest Boyd of Kentucky.She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ricky, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 25, 2002 at Houghton Chapel-Osgood Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Assn or Clinton Home Health. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday 6-8 P.M. and Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Anna M. Pung

Anna M. Pung, died Wednesday March 20, 2002 at the age of 93. She was born in Fowler on Sept. 20, 1908 the daughter of Joseph and Regina (Spitzley) Schneider. Anna married Harold J. Pung on August 26, 1930 in Fowler and he preceded her in death in 1983.  She was a homemaker, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

She is survived by seven daughters, Adelene (Cliff) Martin, Margaret (Eugene) Schafer, Eunice (Joseph) Arens all of Westphalia, Virginia (Herb) Thelen, Carol (Marvin) Simon all of Fowler, Agatha (Leigh) Lyons of Mason, Joan (Ted) Simon of Charlotte six sons, Joseph (Genevieve) Pung, Clare (Eunice) Pung, Ralph (Susie) Pung and Ken Pung all of Fowler, Richard (Mary Ellen) Pung of St. Johns, Ed (Linda) Pung of Pewamo and daughter-in-law Sharon Pung of Fowler, 73 grandchildren, 169 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by one son, Roy Pung, son-in-law Hilary Simon, grandchildren Wayne Martin, Richard & Raymond Thelen, great grandchild Cullin Simon.

Funeral mass will be10:30 A.M. Monday, March 25, 2002 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Raymond Rademacher and Rev. Fr. Chinnappan Kulandai officiating. Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 and 8:00 P.M. Saturday and 3:00 P.M. Sunday with a Vigil Service at 8:00 P.M. Sunday.

Norene Miller

Norene Miller, 70, former nurse's aide, died Tuesday March 19, 2002.. No services will be held. Arrangements by Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns.

Albert "Ernie" George

George-Albert.jpg (8914 bytes)Albert "Ernie" George died March 17, 2002 at the age of 70. He was born in Lansing on April 14, 1931, the son of Albert and Velma (Murphy) George and lived in St. Johns before coming to Lansing. He retired from General Motors and Federal Mogul, was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, former boxing coach in St. Johns, former slow pitch softball coach in St. Johns & Lansing and an avid M.S.U. fan. Ernie married Margaret "Sue" Felheim in Augusta, Georgia on May 11, 1951 and she preceded him in death on January 2, 1995.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory M. George of Key West, Florida and Geoffrey (Cheryl) George of Lansing, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, Walt George of Florida, one sister, Irene Davis of Florida and two special friends Mary French and Jan Wageman, both of Lansing.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 21, 2002 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Ralph Funk officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 P.M. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military graveside services provided by V.F.W. Post #4113 and American Legion Post #153. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Arnold Eric Petkus

petkus.jpg (8141 bytes)Age 65 of Elsie, Michigan formerly of Florida died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at his home. He was retired from Aggregates Corp. in Ferrysburg, Michigan as a General Construction Manager.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at 1:00 P.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Ralph E. Parkin will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 A.m. until the time of the service.

Arnold was born on February 14, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John & Kaze (Kalenda) Petkus. He attended Tilden Tech High School in Chicago and graduated with the Class of 1955. On August 1, 1959 he married Joyce Elaine Shelton in Chicago, Illinois. He resided most of his life in Grand Haven, and Florida then moved to Elsie in October 2001

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Petkus of Elsie, 2 daughters, Alenda & Lee Garner of Laingsburg, and Karin & Steve Plitte of West Lafayette, IN, 2 sons, Eric & Eleanor Petkus of Centennial, CO, and Marc Petkus of Washington, DC, 9 grandchildren, and 1 brother, Burton & Suzy Petkus of Evanston, IL, also many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Memorials may be made to the Lockmar Baptist Church in Palm Bay, Florida. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Kenneth T. Beagle

Kenneth T. Beagle, Grand Ledge Age 88, passed away March 17, 2002 in Lansing, Michigan. Kenneth was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School, class of 1933; Western State Teachers College of Kalamazoo in 1939; University of Michigan Masters Degree in 1945; Michigan State University Advanced Graduate Degree in 1960 and attended Lansing Community College. Ken was a former teacher at Dundee High School 1939-1942 and former employee of Ford Motor Co., Willow Run 1942-1944. He was former principal of Union School of Grand Ledge 1944-1946 and Superintendent of the Grand Ledge Public Schools from 1946 until his retirement in 1973. He then became City Tax Administrator from 1973-1983. He was an active member of the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church since 1946, serving as a Sunday School Teacher for 25 years and member of the Board of Trustees and chairman of the Official Board; former member of the Wacousta Methodist Church. Life member of the Wacousta Masonic Lodge #359 F & A.M. and the Wacousta O.E.S. Chapter #133; Fifty-five year member and past president of the Grand Ledge Rotary Club and District Governor of Rotary. He was also a member of the Eaton Intermediate School Board; past President Congress of School Administrators Assoc., member of the College's Alumni Assoc. and was proud and honored to have Beagle Middle School of Grand Ledge named after him.

He will be missed by his wife of 13 years, Ada Mae; 1 son, Brian (Barbara) of Silverdale, WA; 2 step-daughters, Karin L. Burpee of Grand Ledge and Diane (Jerry) Wilson of Haslett; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; 1 brother, Carl (Shirley) of Bath; 2 sisters, Hazel Schoch of Meadville, PA and Etta (Rev. Ray) Teusink of Yakima, WA. Several nieces and nephews; 1 daughter-in-law, Melanie Beagle of Williamston; 1 step daughter-in-law, Mary Burpee of Okemos. Mr. Beagle was predeceased by his first wife, Vera in 1987; sons, Keith in 1941 and Leigh in 2001; step-son, Robert Burpee in 1994; brothers, Chester, Earl, Eugene and Howard Beagle and sister, Atha Garlock.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20th-11 a.m. at the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church, 411 Harrison St. with Rev. W.J. "Bill" Amundsen and Rev. Kathy Kursch officiating; with interment at the Wacousta Cemetery, Watertown Twp. The family will receive friends Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Grand Ledge Rotary Scholarship Fund, Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Stewart A. Salters

Salters-Stewart.jpg (9797 bytes)Stewart A. Salters died March 15, 2002 at the age of 82. He was born in St. Johns on August 8, 1919, the son of Arthur and Helen (Hunt) Salters and lived in St. Johns most of his life. He retired from Federal Mogul after 30 years of service, was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Post #153, V.F.W. Post #4113 and the D.A.V. Stewart married MaryAnn Eiseler in St. Johns on June 22, 1946 and she survives him.

Also surviving are his children, Valerie Muckle of Rogers City, Lynette (Lee) Grubaugh of Elsie, Lori Salters of Lansing and Richard (Marilyn) Salters of Lafayette, Louisiana, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, four brothers, Robert (Anna) Salters of Muir, Donald (Katherine) Salters of Lansing, Clare (Emma) Salters of Eureka and Leon (Linda) Salters of Mecosta, three sisters, Margarette (Frank) Halsted, Betty (N.J.) Blemaster, all of St. Johns, and Lena (Art) Hertzberg of Owosso and sister-in-law, Maxine Salters of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jane Larsen in 1986 and brother, Lawrence Salters.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 18, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday and Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a scripture service 7 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Military graveside services provided by V.F.W. Post #4113 and American Legion Post #153. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Albert Joseph Trujillo Jr.

trujillo.jpg (6855 bytes)Age 38 of Eaton, Indiana, formerly of Bannister, Michigan, passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He worked as a Fiber Optics Cable Installer and worked construction for a new homes builder.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 17, 2002 at 1:00 P.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8 P.m. and Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 P.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Saturday evening at 7:00 P.m.

Albert was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 31, 1963 the son of Albert Joseph and Juanita M. (Quintela) Trujillo Sr. He attended Ovid-Elsie High School and graduated with the Class of 1981. He was affiliated with St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan and resided most of his life in the Bannister and Shepherd area. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the VFW in Montague, Michigan. He was also a member of U.S. Patriots Motorcycle Club Indiana Chapter.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Shalynne Trujillo of Mt. Pleasant, parents, Albert J. & Juanita Trujillo Sr. of Bannister, 2 sisters, Linda & Patrick Lanczynski of Brant, Rachel & Ruben Chavez of Lansing, 1 brother Peter & Lori Trujillo of Niles, grandmothers, Anna Trujillo of Elsie, Juanita Quintela of Elsie, 3 nieces Haleigh, Kianna, and Samantha, 4 nephews Gabriel, Alan, Anthony, and Cody. He was predeceased in death by his grandfathers, Zenon Quintela, Pete Trujillo, and Anthony Amaya.

Memorials may be made to a Trust Fund being set up for his daughter. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Michigan.
