Rev. Fr. Raymond M. Rademacher

Rademacher-Raymond2.jpg (7487 bytes)Rev. Fr. Raymond M. Rademacher, age 66, died Saturday, May 18, 2002. He was born in Westphalia, Michigan September 9, 1935 the son of Walter J. and Anna (Thelen) Rademacher.  He graduated from St. Joseph Seminary, Sacred Heart Seminary and  St. John Provincial Seminary and completed post graduate work at Western Michigan University with a Masters Degree in History.  Fr. Ray served as Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph in St. Joseph, MI, St. Augustine in Kalamazoo and St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing, and Pastor at St. Joseph in Owosso, St. Francis of Assisi in Ann Arbor, St. Casimir in Lansing and currently Most Holy Trinity in Fowler.  Fr. Ray was also a member of the Msgr. Esper Knights of Columbus Council, 4th Degree Fr. Godez Assembly and currently served as the KofC Lansing Diocese Chaplain and the Dallas Township Fire Department Chaplain. 

Fr. Ray is survived by his brothers and sisters, Esther (Urban) Thelen of Westphalia, Urban (Theresa) Rademacher of Lansing, Marie (Elon) Schneider-Goodman of Portland, William (Elida) Rademacher of New Mexico, Julia Spitzley of Fowler, Doris (Woody) Neumann of Flint and Louis (Gladys) Rademacher of Westphalia and several nieces/nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers-in-law, Ronald Spitzley, Harold Schneider, Ben Pero and Russ Linabery. 

Fr. Ray’s wish was to have his body donated to M.S.U.  Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Bishop Carl F. Mengeling and Concelebrated by Priests of the Lansing Diocese.   Visitation will be at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler on Sunday 2:00-9:00 with the family present 2-4 & 7-9 with a rosary prayed at 3:00 & 8:00 P.M. and on Monday at the church 9:00-9:00 with the family present 2-4 & 6-9 with a rosary prayed at 3:00 & 7:00 P.M. and a scripture service at 7:30 P.M.  Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or charity of donors choice.  Arrangements by the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler.

Ervin Dale Webster Sr.

webster.jpg (6861 bytes)Age 70 of St. Johns, formerly of Alma & Ithaca passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Pine River Healthcare in St. Louis, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel with Pastor Alan Meis officiating. Burial will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos, Michigan. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. and Thursday 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service.

Mr. Webster was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 3, 1931 the son of John B. & Marcia J. (Justus) Webster Sr. Ervin retired in 1991 from Fisher Body in Lansing, Michigan. He was a member of Moose Lodge # 2235 in Harrison. He also enjoyed auctions, fishing, and refinishing furniture. Ervin resided most of his life in Gratiot and Clinton County.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Cynthia & Walter Hubbert of Elwell, Roberta & Robert Whitford of Maple Rapids, 4 sons, Erwin Dale & Lorrie Webster Jr. of Lakeview, John & Christina Webster III of Ashley, Larry & Sue Webster of St. Johns, Eugene & Dana Webster of Ashley, 13 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, Mother of the children, Mildred Webster of St. Johns, 1 sister, Beverly Janelle of Detroit, 3 brothers, James & Darlene Webster of Taylor, John B. & Opal Webster II of Oklahoma, and Albert & Betty Webster of Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, and 5 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Moose Haven Children’s Home. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Emma M. Salters

Emma M. Salters died May 14, 2002 at the age of 72. Born October 25, 1929 in Saginaw County, Michigan the daughter of Rudy and Mary (Tepley) Paseka.  She was retired from Saylor Beall Manufacturing after 25 years of service.  Emma married Clare Salters on November 1, 1947 and he survives her.  

Also surviving are one son, Doug (Vicky) Salters of DeWitt and one daughter, Charlotte (Kim) Bancroft, of St. Johns, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.  She also has one sister, Helen Mitosinka of St. Johns, and two brothers, Frank (Celia) Paseka of Washington & Jack (Thelma) Paseka of California.  Emma was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Rudy, Victor “Gus”, and Archie Paseka and one sister, Annie Gillespie.  

Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M. Friday, May 17, 2002 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Eureka Cemetery with Rev. Robert Ditmer officiating.  The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County.

George F. Gavenda, Jr.

George F. Gavenda, Jr. died May 14, 2002 at the age of 81. He was born in Cook County, IL on March 23, 1921, the son of George, Sr. and Anne Gavenda and lived most of his life in St. Johns. He retired from Fisher Body in 1980, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Post #153, V.F.W. Post #4113 and the Knights of Columbus and was commander of the D.A.V. He enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and volunteering. George married Julia Makara in St. Johns on September 23, 1943 and she preceded him in death on August 30, 1978.

Surviving are his daughter, Elaine Gavenda of Lansing, son, George F. (Vikki) Gavenda, III of Laingsburg, two granddaughters, Beth (Roy) Hollis of St. Johns and Cathy (Dennis) Uribe of St. Louis, MI, four great grandchildren, brother, Joe Gavenda of Maple Rapids and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 17, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a vigil service 7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County. Military graveside services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard.

Michael Adamski

Michael J. Adamski, 51, of Franklin, Ind., and formerly of St. Johns, died May 7, 2002 at Midtown Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born Oct. 8, 1950 in St. Johns, the son of Michael and Leona (Swade) Adamski.

He was employed with Meijer's. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witness in Franklin, Ind. He taught himself to crochet and enjoyed computers. He graduated from St. Johns High School.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia (Fetters) Adamski of Franklin, Ind.; three children, Nathan of Midland, Sarah Haste of Trafalgon, Ind., and Carmen of Franklin; three brothers, Jim Adamski of Middleton, John Adamski of Springport and David Adamski of Fenton.; two sisters, Sally Kelly of Halbert and Deborah Mass of St. Ignace.

A memorial service is planned for a later date at the Kingdom Hall of JehovahÕs Witness, Franklin, Ind. The family was served by Jessen Funeral Home in Indiania.

Larry W. Auer

Larry W. Auer, 67, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Carson City, died May 8 2002. He was born Dec. 21, 1934 in Lansing

Larry retired in 1984 from the GM Oldsmobile plant after 31-1/2 years of employment.

Surviving are his loving wife of 36 years, Thelma Auer; daughters Roxann (Jerry) Shaull of Lansing, Roseann Auer of Washington D.C., Colleen Auer of Lansing, Cynthia (Michael) Campbell of Arlington Va., Lois (Jon) Scranton of St. Johns, Darlene Ryan of Middleton, Judy Osborne of Orleans, and Vicky (David) Yahr of Fenwick; son, Gene (Shelly) Bird of Elsie; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren with tenth great-grandchild expected in July; sister Joan (Basil) Davis; brothers Henry (Jr.) and William (Marvia) Nemetz all of Maple Rapids; 13 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews; aunts: Carrie Kellogg, Mildred (Ward) Thompson and Dorothy (George) Parish; cousins; Elaine (RG) Whitford and Linda (Al) Guthrie.

Preceded in death by father Ernest W. Auer; mother Ilene (Kellogg) Nemetz; loving stepfather Henry Nemetz Sr.; brother, Walter Auer; sister Betty (Auer) Mabie; and nephew Michael Mabie.

Memorial services are being planned at later date for family and friends. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
