'Eddy' Duffey Edward 'Eddy' Michael Duffey, 20, passed away Aug. 11 2002 near Rimrock Wash. Eddy was born Aug. 3, 1982 in Oscoda, Mich., to Edward B. and Michelle (Glossop) Duffey. He was raised in St. Johns, Lansing and Yakima, Wash. A friend to so many, Eddy loved playing basketball, singing songs as he made them up, playing video games and his car. He was always proud to talk about his son, Tre Elton. He is survived by his son, Tre Elton Simpson-Duffey, and mother, Michelle Duffey both of Lansing; father, Edward B. Duffey of Yakima Wash.; sisters, Jennifer Duffey of Ft. Carson Colo. of the U.S. Military Police Corps., Marie Duffey of Lansing; grandmother, Darlene J. Duffey of Yakima Wash.; grandfather, Ed Duffey of Doniphan Mo.; great-grandparents Curt and Irene Bolin of Seguin, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends. Funeral services were held Aug. 15, in Yakima at Shaws Dan Sons Memorial Chapel. Cremation arrangements were in the care of Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors of Yakima, Wash. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m., Aug. 24 at the St. Johns City Park. Alan R. Simon died August 13, 2002 at the age of 34. He was born August 24, 1967, the son of Roy and Jo Ann (Martin) Simon. He graduated from St. Johns High School and Grand Valley State University. Alan was a Federal government employee. He married Cynthia Shoemaker August 11, 1990 and she survives him. Also surviving are daughter Hannah, son, Matthew, his parents, Roy and Jo Ann Simon of St. Johns, two brothers, Brian (Diane) Simon and Dan (Robin) Simon, two sisters, Karen Simon and Laura (Randy) Trayer, nieces, Chelsey and Jennifer, nephews, Gregory, Michael, Scott, Triston and Zach, and his grandmother, Julia Martin of Fowler. Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar and Bernita Simon and Sylvester Martin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy and Rev. Fr. Leon Martin officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday and Friday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a rosary prayed at 3:00 and 7:00 P.M. Thursday and 3:00 P.M. Friday and a vigil service prayed 7:00 P.M. Friday. Memorials may be made at the funeral home for an education fund for his children. Alberta L. Kelsey, 85, died Sunday, August 11, 2002. Eva Mesh died Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Clinton Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. Eva was born October 26, 1911 to Joseph and Rosalia (Hermann) Offenbecker in Monroe, MI. On April 13, 1926, in Gladwin County, Eva Offenbecker became the wife of George B. Mesh and later they became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Eva is survived by four children; Eva (Bob) Miller; Joseph (Joyce) Mesh both of St. Johns, Jack (Maureen) Mesh of Quincy, IL, and David (Pat) Mesh of Kincheloe; 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Mary) Offenbecker of Beaverton; two sisters, Maggie Young and Liz (Pete) Howard and a sister-in-law, Beth Offenbecker all of Estey; and a daughter-in-law, Marlene Mesh of Corunna. Mrs. Mesh was preceded in death by her husband, George B. on January 16, 1976, a son, George J. on May 2, 1996, a brother, Bill Offenbecker and her parents. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday August 14 , 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden, St. Johns with the Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Osgood Funeral Home Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., 104 E. Cass, St. Johns with a Vigil Service at 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Hospice of Clinton County, 304 N. Brush Street, St. Johns, MI 48879 in memory of Eva. She was 5' and cast a long shadow. Adelia S. Hengesbach, Westphalia, MI Age 95, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2002. She was born on May 9, 1907 in Westphalia, the daughter of Henry and Amelia (Harr) Rademacher. Mrs. Hengesbach was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Hengesbach on May 23, 1986; 2 brothers; and 6 sisters. Surviving are her 2 sons, Alfred (Marie) Hengesbach of Eagle and Bernard (Bernice) Hengesbach of Fowler; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Sister Henrilda Rademacher, SCC of Wilmette, IL; 2 sisters-in-law, Nettie Koenigsknecht and Loretta Rademacher, both of Fowler; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor, at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday and Monday. The Rosary will be prayed at 3 and 8 PM both days.
