Delbert J. WhitlockMary Beth "Myrt" Upton |
Dorothy A. Stehlik age 63 of Ovid, Michigan died Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso. Dorothy was born on January 18, 1939 in Clare County, Michigan the daughter of Edward & Anna ( Zeamer ) Schiemann. She graduated from Gladwin High School with the class of 1957. On June 1, 1963 she and Jerry Stehlik were married in Gladwin, Michigan. She resided most of her life in Ovid and was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in St. Johns, Michigan. Dorothy was also a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 in Bannister. In her earlier years she worked for Dow Chemical Company of Midland, she was also a homemaker who enjoyed arts & crafts, sewing, knitting & crocheting.
Delbert J. Whitlock died December 29, 2002 at the age of 92. Born in Greenbush Township July 3, 1910 the son of Burt and Verna (Beck) Whitlock and lived in Clinton County all of his life. He was a retired inspector with Motor Wheel and a former member of the Clinton County Historical Society. Delbert loved to read and recite poetry and listen to classical music. He is survived by two sisters, Jean Moore of Bannister and Mary (Richard) Kingsbury of St. Johns, niece and nephews, Judy (Ron) Betts of Owosso, Roger (Carole) Moore of Harbor Springs, MI, Bruce (Linda) Moore of Aledo, TX, Mark (Louella) Kingsbury of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Ron (Stephanie) Kingsbury and David (Heather) Kingsbury, all of St. Johns, many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by one infant brother, Roland Whitlock and brother-in-law, Thomas Moore. A Memorial Service will
be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Osgood Funeral Home with
Pastor Jim Dibbet officiating. The family will receive friends
1:00-2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be
made to Briggs Public Library. Robert W. Gudge, DeWitt A wonderful husband, father, son, grandpa and papa was born November 13, 1942, in Lansing; passed away peacefully on December 28, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 60. Robert was employed by Dard, Inc. subcontracted by Lansing Community College. He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Gudge, and sister, Carol Matejka. Robert will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are Joy, his wife of 40 years; 3 daughters, Terry Ward and Traci (Chuck) Crego both of Lansing and Trisha (Gibby) Hampton of Portland; 6 grandchildren, Corey, Robbie, Jordan, Alex, Abbie, Madelyn; and his mother, Kathleen. A celebration of Robert's life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2003, at 3 p.m. at the V.F.W. Edwin J. Leyanna Post #671, 12250 S. U.S. 27, DeWitt, MI. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Lung Association of Michigan, 403 Seymour Ave., Lansing, MI, 48933-1179, or to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Rd., East Lansing, MI, 48823, in memory of Robert W. Gudge. The family is being served by the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, Lansing.
Floyd H. Drake, 88, St. Johns Formerly of New York State & Zephyrhills, FL Died December 25, 2002 at the age of 88. He was born in Hubbardsville, New York on July 9, 1914, the son of Frederick and Mattie (Wright) Drake and lived in New York state most of his life before moving to Zephyrhills, FL and St. Johns, MI in later years. He was a service station owner, mechanic and farmer. Floyd married Alpha P. Cressman on June 5, 1985 and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2002. Surviving are his son, Walter (Helen) Drake of Massachusetts and Florida, daughter, Shirley (Fred) Schneider of Connecticut, step daughters, Leona (Bill) Nielson of Brownsville, Texas, Barbara (Gene) Ashley of Traverse City, Janet (Jack) Smith of Ovid and Darlene (Darrell) Buck of St. Johns, five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, fifteen step grandchildren, thirty-two step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Osgood Funeral Home , burial at South Bingham Cemetery with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Mary Beth "Myrt" Upton, St. Johns Formerly of Maple Rapids Died December 25, 2002 at the age of 80. Born in Detroit, Mi. on March 12, 1922, she was the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Parr) Barton. She was a volunteer at Carson City Hospital and Clinton Memorial Hospital- Home Bound Meals Program. Mary Beth graduated from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and had a 50-year career as a registered nurse. Some of the hospitals Mary Beth worked at included; Clinton Memorial Hospital, Carson City Hospital, Gratiot Community Hospital and Mid Michigan District Health Department. Mary Beth married Robert Upton, November 10, 1946 and he survives her. Also surviving, four daughters, Linda (Fred) Gifford of St. Johns, Brenda Upton of Mt. Pleasant, Martha Upton-Lehman of Naples, Fl., Rebecca (Jim) Kremidas of Carmel, In., one sister, Bettie (Victor) Smith of Eddyville, Ky., nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her brother, Colonel Bernard Barton preceded Mary Beth in death. Memorial Service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Maple Rapids Congregational Church, Maple Rapids with Pastor Jerry Kissling and Ethel Baldwin friend and spiritual nursing chaplain officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday 12:00 P.M. until Memorial Service 1:00 P.M. at church. Memorials maybe made to Charity of Donor Choice. |
