Dorothy M. Hettinger Dorothy M. Hettinger, age 81, died on March 24, 2003. She was born in Detroit July 4, 1921 the daughter of Herbert and Patricia (Pushies) Splane and lived most of her life in St. Johns. Dorothy retired from the Accounting Dept. at Federal Mogul and was a member of the First Congregational Church and American Legion Auxiliary Edwin T. Stiles Unit 153-St. Johns serving as past president for two terms and district secretary for one term. She married Paul Hettinger June 7, 1942 and he preceded her in death in May of 1994. She is survived by one daughter Pat and Budd Sutliff of Fallbrook, CA, two sons, Mike Hettinger and Pati Newton of Grayling, and Tom Hettinger of Lansing, three grandchildren Tara Sutliff, Jason and Usha Sutliff, and Mike and Beverly Hettinger, Jr., three great grandchildren, Ashley Sutliff, Jasmine Sutliff and Victoria Hettinger. She is also survived by two sisters Jane Miller of Wayland and Madge Blanding of Canton. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 28, 2003 at the First Congregational
Church, burial in Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Cayle Beagle and Rev. Matt Olson
officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Osgood
Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County or the charity of
the donors choice. Patrick Wohlfert, Lansing, MI Born March 2, 1943, in St. Johns, MI; died March 22, 2003, at the age of 60. Mr. Wohlfert was a member of AA for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula, on September 11, 2001, son, Tim Wohlfert, in 1993, stepson, Mark Leikam, in 2001, and granddaughter, Samantha Wohlfert, in 1990. Surviving are his sons, Dale (Brenda) Wohlfert of St. Johns, Robert (Becky) Wohlfert of Maple Rapids, Jerry (Lorinda) Wohlfert of Fowler, Jim Wohlfert of Lansing, Jeremy Sullivan of Charlotte, and Jeff Leikam of Lansing; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Carl (Joyce) Wohlfert of Colorado, Bill (Mary) Wohlfert of Sumner, Joe (Barb) Wohlfert of Williamston; and his 2 loving dogs, Bud and Precious. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 26, at noon at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, with Rev. Kenneth McDonnald officiating. Interment will follow in Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI, 48906, in memory of Mr. Wohlfert. Madge K. Craig, Ovid, MI Age 76, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Springport, MI on July 18, 1926, the daughter of Chancey H. Green and Nellie E. Spencer. She resided in the Ovid area for most of her life with her husband, Donald LeRoy Craig and she worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Middlebury United Methodist Church, and Duplain Church of Christ. Surviving are her children, John (Rita) Craig of Holt, Karline (Terry) Ike of Ovid, Robert (Monica) Craig of St. Johns, Rita (Paul) Block of St. Johns, and Amy (Ken) Thomas of Eagle; a sister, Ermina McKay; two nephews, Ben Green and David McKay; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Donald, in 1995. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 30, at her home, 126 E. First St., Ovid, from 2-4 p.m. Burial wii be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to her churches or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. All funeral arrangements are being handled by Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in association with Mowen Funeral Home of Owosso. Kenneth "Owen" Curtis, age 61, died Friday, March 21, 2003 after a valiant struggle to recover from heart surgery. He was born September 24, 1941, son of Philena (Perry) Curtis and the late Kenneth E. Curtis. Owen was preceded in death by his brother, Randy. Owen loved people and working as a bartender for Holiday Lanes and formerly at Tri-Ami Lanes in Ovid. He also played fast pitch softball for over 20 years, and was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the MSU Spartans. Owen is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene Curtis of East Lansing, 3 children, Christopher Curtis of Frederick, Maryland, Mary Elizabeth (Patrick) Parish of Farwell & Eric Curtis (fiancé Lara Wildman) of Edmore, 3 stepchildren, Richard (Lori) Caraway of Seattle, Washington, Christine (Michael) Rivers of Kansas City, Missouri & Bradley Caraway of Seattle, Washington, 5 grandchildren, his mother, Philena Curtis of Fremont and sister, Karen (Fred) Veenstra of Holton. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 24, 2003 at the Houghton Chapel of
Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid. The family will receive friends Sunday 12:00 - 8:00 P.M.
at the funeral home. Allan B. Halfman died March 20, 2003 at the age of 70. He was born June 22, 1932 in Westphalia, Michigan the son of Anthony and Gertrude (Simon) Halfman. Allan retired from Fisher Body after 32 years of service and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and VFW Post #3733 having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict . Allan married Marian (Spitzley) Harr on September 23, 1977. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marian Halfman of Fowler, three daughters, Pamela (Paul) Martin of Fowler, Linda (Pat) Cook of Westphalia and Cheryl (fiance Scott Goodman) Halfman of Lansing, two sons, Rick Halfman of St. Johns and Terry (Erin) Halfman of Cape Coral, Florida, two stepdaughters, Julie (Stan) Weber of Fowler and Donna (Tom) Fox of Peach Tree City, Georgia, 11 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. Allan also has two sisters, Joan (Gerald) Pohl of Fowler and Marie Thelen of Westphalia, one brother, Joseph (Marge) Halfman of St. Johns, in-laws, Donald (Helen) Spitzley, Helen (John) Fedewa, Phillip (Sandy) Spitzley, all of Pewamo, Bob (Liz) Spitzley, Louis (Ruth) Spitzley of Westphalia and Paul (Elaine) Spitzley of Battle Creek, several nieces and nephews. Allan was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leon Halfman. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 24, 2003 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Timothy MacDonald officating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 Saturday and Sunday at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler with rosaries prayed 3 and 8 both days. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund. Donna R. Schulze died March 19, 2003 at the age of 76. She was born on October 7, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Ethelyn Rossow. She was a homemaker. Donna married Earl J. Schulze in Maple Rapids on February 16, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1997. Surviving are her daughter, Judy Feighner of Ashley, sons, Duane Schulze of Charlotte and Dean (Sue) Schulze of Maple Rapids, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Winifred Stewart of Perrinton and Marge Schulze of Zephyrhills, FL and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Leona and Della Schulze and four brothers-in-law, Gerald, William and Kenneth Schulze and Wilbur Stewart. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, burial at Beach Cemetery with Rev. Steven Lang officiating. The Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
