Donald R. Dikeman, Sr.

Donald R. Dikeman, Sr. died Monday, June 9, 2003 in Lansing at the age of 73. He was born September 8, 1929 in Chetta, WI and had worked as a self-employed painter.

Donald is survived by his wife, Donna of 55 years; 6 children; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2003 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military graveside services provided by Edwin J. Leyanna V.F.W. Post #671, DeWitt. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service.

Robert D.  Taft

Taft-Robert.jpg (6633 bytes)Robert D. Taft died June 9, 2003 at the age of 76. He was born in Ovid on May 19, 1927, the son of John and Marguerite (Holden) Taft. He was a 1944 graduate of Ovid High School, was a veteran of the Navy during World War II and retired from Federal Mogul in 1987. Robert married Barbara Irish in Ovid on October 10, 1948 and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2000. 

Surviving are his sons, Barry (Judy) Taft of Waco, Texas and Alan Taft of Ovid, daughter, Kris (Lou) Oliveri of Westlake, Ohio, grandchildren, Lisa Gray and B.J. Taft, great grandchildren, Demarus and Alex Gray, sisters, Ellen Lowe of DeWitt and Lois (Arnold) Kindred of Owosso, brother-in-law, Keith (Shirley) Irish of Ovid and sister-in-law, Phyllis (Mervin) Straw of LeRoy, MI. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 13, 2003 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Rob McPherson officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday and 10 A.M. – 2 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. 

Helen M. Bocek

Bocek died June 9, 2003 at the age of 82.  She was born February 5, 1921 in Wyandotte, Michigan the daughter of Zigmond and Mary (Przygocki) Holczman.  Helen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, formerly cooked for Tri-Ami Bowl and was an avid bowler for 40 years.  Helen married Anthony J. Bocek, Jr. April 19, 1941 and he preceded her in death November 15, 1994 after 53 years of marriage.

Helen is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Hier of Ovid, Suzanne (Ron) Nethaway of Farwell and Adrianne (Frank) Winkler of Ovid, one son, Anthony Bocek, III of Port Huron, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and one sister, Hattie Weatherford of Lake Columbia-Brooklyn, Michigan.  In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter, Rachel K. Nethaway, grandson, Jeffery Allen Nethaway, 3 brothers, Vince, Stanley & Al Holczman and 3 sisters, Effie Brown, Veronica Brower and Anita Crackle.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Paul Cummings officiating.  The family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and Thursday at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid and at the church from 10:00 A.M.  - 11:00 A.M. on Friday.  A Rosary will be prayed 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.

Farol Bontrager,  73, retired Federal Mogul factory worker, died Sunday. Services 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Mennonite Church. Arrangements by Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns.

Cindy A. Miller

St. Johns, MI Died June 8, 2003 at the age of 46. Cindy was born on June 5, 1957 to Ernest and Thelma (VanElls) Miller. She loved Horse Barrel Racing, her horse named Di and her dog named Mac.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly K. Lange (Jeff) of Clio, Kelly Rademacher (Fiance Ben Glupker) of Flint, one son, Korey Rademacher of Clio, grandson, Cole Lange of Clio, mother, Thelma Miller (Fiance Harold Tobey) St. Johns, two sisters, Linda Feldpausch (Lee) of Fowler, Karen Kipp of Carson City, two brothers, Bob Miller (Kathy) of St. Johns, John Miller (Amy) of Fowler and several nieces & nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Miller and her great nephew, Peyton Moore.

Funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Pastor Len Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Hospice for Clinton County.
