Thelma “Kay” Haudenschield-Schueller

Haudenschield-Thelma.jpg (8704 bytes)Thelma “Kay” Haudenschield-Schueller died June 17, 2003 at the age of 63. Born January 8, 1940, the daughter of Robert Haudenschield and Eva (Roby) Thompson. She loved crafting, gardening, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Surviving are five sons, Joe (Tammy) Schueller of Chesaning, Jerome Schueller of St. Johns, Robert (Tamara) Schueller of Eureka, Ron (Alice) Schueller of St. Johns and Jeff (Jennifer) Schueller of Florida, one daughter, Treena (Kelly) Ladisky of St. Johns, grandchildren, Ben & Jenny, Heather & Brad, Holly, Justin, Beccie, Jordan, Brittany, Ryan, Ronnie, Ilene, Tiffany, Jean, Jeffrey, Jessica, K.J., Travis, Zach and Courtney, great grandchildren, Ben, Trisha, Tristen and MacKenzie, mother, Eva Thompson of St. Johns, aunt, Anna White of St. Johns, sister, Barbara (Don) Pease of Ovid, niece, Karen (William) Bond, nephew, Larry Pease, all of St. Johns. She was preceded in death by her son, David Schueller, father, Robert Haudenschield, one brother, Perry Haudenschield and nephew, Michael Pease. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with  Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilma A. Thelen

Wilma A. Thelen,  St. Johns, MI Formerly of Westphalia, MI Age 71, passed away on Sunday June 15, 2003. She was born on June 11, 1932 in Fowler, MI the daughter of Otto and Mary (Hufnagel) Simon. Mrs. Thelen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, MI and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She married Elmer Thelen September 23, 1953 in Fowler, and he preceded her in death in 1990. Wilma was a loyal fan to her grandchildren's extracurricular activities. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Paul, Roman and Anthony Simon; sister, Anna Koenigsknecht.

Surviving are 5 sons, David Thelen of Westphalia, Jim (Sandy) Thelen of Westphalia, Jerry (Sharon) Thelen of Westphalia, Rick (Shannon) Thelen of St. Johns, and Larry (Sheehan) Thelen of Pinckney; 5 daughters, Ruth (Jerry) Armbrustmacher of Fowler, Linda (Brian) Ritter of St. Johns, Terese (Randy) Croyle of St. Johns, Donna (Glen)Cummins of Portland, and Patti (Stacy) Darling of Portland; 21 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 brothers, Donald (Shirley) Simon of Mt. Clemens and Frank (Barbara) Simon of Lansing; 2 sisters, Rita (Carl) Wieber of Fowler and Theresa Donovan of Kenner, LA.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia with the Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. both days. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.

Amber Jo Cuttle

Amber Jo Cuttle, age 25, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2003.  She was born on December 28, 1977 in Lansing, MI.  She graduated from Portland High School in 1996 and received her Bachelors Degree from Northwood University.  She was currently a Marketing coordinator for the Educational Institute for the Hotel and Lodging Association.   She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Evan and Charlotte Hathaway; grandfather, Raymond H. Cuttle. 

Surviving are her parents, Connie (Donald) Skinner of Portland; father, Kim Cuttle; fiance, Michael Miller of St. Johns; 4 brothers, Robert (Donna) Cuttle of Belding, Michael (Kristy) Cuttle of Ionia, Jason (special friend, Heidi Root) Cuttle of Lansing, and Scott (Susan) Cuttle of Charlotte; nieces and nephews, Evan Cuttle, Jenny Cuttle, Aaron Cuttle, Arik Cuttle, Nicole Cuttle, Cody Cuttle, Brendon Smith, Alexzander Cuttle, and Zachary Cuttle; aunts and uncles, Jack and Evonne Johnson of Lansing, and Tom and Candy Vogel of Ionia. 

The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Belding, MI.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of One's Choice, in memory of Amber Jo Cuttle. 

Jack L. Wolf

Jack L. Wolf,  St. Johns, MI Born April 9, 1933, in Elyria, OH; died June 13, 2003, at the age of 70. Mr. Wolf coached Little League in DeWitt for over 15 years, enjoyed being around children and was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy L. Wolf.

Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl A. Pugsley and sons, Charles C. Wolf both of St. Johns and Jack L. (Sharon) Wolf of Eagle; grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Laura and Timothy Pugsley, Levi, Chad, Melissa and Mark Wolf; great-grandchildren, Madysen Pugsley-Sleight, Cameron Roof and Alyssa Pugsley; and brother, Clark David Wolf.

A Service of Word and Praise for the Home-Going of Mr. Wolf will be held Wednesday, June 18, at noon at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin St., DeWitt, with the Rev. Dr. Albert B. Collver, of Hope Lutheran Church, DeWitt, officiating. Interment will follow in Gunnisonville Cemetery, DeWitt Township. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the Service. Those desiring may make contributions to DeWitt Little League in memory of Mr. Wolf.

James Stephen  Fitzpatrick

James Stephen  Fitzpatrick, D.D.S.,  DeWitt, MI Passed away Friday, June 13, 2003, at his home following a lengthy, courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforma brain cancer. Jim was born on October 14, 1955, in Detroit, to Donald J. and Yvonne Fitzpatrick. He married Linda Carpenter on December 2, 1989.

Besides his mother and wife, he leaves a son, Christian Carpenter of Clinton Township, MI; 3 brothers and their wives, Donald W. (Kyle) of Thompsonville, MI, William (Kathryn) of Milford, MI and John (Linda) of Novi, MI; and many other relatives and friends. Jim was a member of the Catholic Community of St. Jude, DeWitt. He was predeceased by his father in 1981. Jim received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan in 1982. He was a Staff Dentist with Blue Care Network since 1982 and was an instructor of Pharmacology with the Lansing Community College Dental Hygiene Program since 1989. Jim was also a member of the Chicago Dental Society and the Michigan Dental Society. Besides his Dentistry practice and his family, Jim was an avid golfer, bicyclist and gardener, but was mostly a devoted and unyielding fan of the Michigan Wolverines. He especially enjoyed his time at the family cottage on Lake Michigan.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 16, at 11 AM at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, on Saturday from 7-9PM and on Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 PM with the Vigil Service being celebrated Sunday at 7:30 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church on Monday, 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a charitable donation to the Hospice of Clinton Memorial and Sparrow, 1215 E. Michigan Ave., P.O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909-7980 or to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, P.O. Box 16224, Lansing, MI 48901, in memory of Jim. The family extends a special thanks to Susan Smith, R.N, Clinton County Hospice.

Barbara J. “Bobbie” Price

Price-Barbara.jpg (27179 bytes)Barbara J. “Bobbie” Price died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at the age of 79.   She was born November 15, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Floyd and Wilda (Hipkins) Johnson.  Bobbie formerly worked as a bookeeper for R.A.V.E., Shapiro’s Automotive in Owosso and former clerk for Ovid Hardware and Ovid I.G.A.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Bobbie is survived by her children, Suzanne (Evert) Hendley of St. Johns, Arthur (Deborah) Price of Ovid and Kathy Ann (Duane) Albright of Charlotte, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Sauber and Donna Kusenda of Ovid.   

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid with Rev. Ron Hansen Pastor of Hartford United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends noon until 1 P.M. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to R.A.V.E. or Ovid Healthcare.

Lorayne R. Banta-Parker

Lorayne R. Banta-Parker,  St. Johns, MI Lorayne R. Banta-Parker died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in St. Johns at the age of 72. Lorayne was born September 30, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Leon and Frances (Wynek) Mayev and was proud of her Russian heritage. She was an assistant Dean of nursing at Loyola University, Chicago, IL, having done her undergraduate work at Michigan State University and received her Masters Degree from Loyola University.

Lorayne was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rose Smolensky and late husbands, Edwin Banta and her beloved Alan Parker of St. Johns, MI. She is survived by her nephew, Bart Smolensky of Chicago, IL; a step-daughter, Ann Collins; and great-nephews, Jeff, Brian and Eric.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, June 14, 2003 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.

Edward Galko

galco.jpg (8401 bytes)Edward Galko age 76 of Elsie, Michigan passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Ovid Healthcare Center in Ovid, Michigan. He retired in 1980 from Johnson Control in Owosso, Michigan after 32 years of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. The Rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Edward was born on August 12, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Joseph & Anna (Krymrik) Galko. On September 3, 1949 he married Mary V. Wlosek at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan. Edward was a Veteran of WWII, serving his country in the United States Army. He was also a life member of the Owosso VFW Post #9455, a life member of the Michigan Polka Music Hall of Fame, and a member of the Central Michigan Polka Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a musician, bandleader, and he had his own polka band for 40 years. He was an avid pilot, flying full scale aircraft and he also continued to assemble and fly radio controlled aircraft. He resided most of his life in the Elsie and Bannister area.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Galko of Elsie, one daughter, Lynn & Christopher Fruchey of Elsie, two sons, David & Linda Galko of Mesick, Ronald Galko of Ovid, his grandchildren, Vicki & Jake, Jeffrey & Mandy, Greg & Mikki, two great grandchildren, Ellie & Emma, two brothers, Al & Dorothy Galko of Owosso, Andrew Bakos of Owosso and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and five brothers.
Memorials may be to St. Cyril’s Catholic Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Daniel Menovske

menovske.jpg (6005 bytes)Daniel Stoyan Menovske, 66, of Charlotte and formerly of Mason, passed away June 6, 2003 at his home. He was born in Lansing Aug. 12 1936, the son of Stoyan and Minnie (Green) Menovske.

Daniel worked for the Real Estate Division of the Michigan Department of Transportation until his retirement. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid University of Michigan fan. Mr. Menovske held membership in the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 288 of Lansing and was a former Pop Warner Football League coach in Lansing.

Daniel is survived by his children, Carole Jo Brunner of St. Johns, Stephen Menovske, Denise Menovske, Matthew Menovske all of California, Dawn (Rodney) Ching of Hawaii, Debbie Schueller of Charlotte, Joseph (Marea) Menovske of Elsie; grandchildren Matthew and Christa Schueller, Chelsea, Joey, and Kelli Ching, Levi Menovske, Bonnie and Tyler Menovske; and his sister Mary (Wendell) Parker of Traverse City. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Stoyan and Minnie, and his sister, Helen West.

Funeral services were held June 11 at the Pray Funeral Home. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Charlotte Community Library or the Mason Library.
