Dorothy J. Decker

Dorothy J. Decker died June 22, 2003, at the age of 81. She was born in Pontiac, MI on April 2, 1922, the daughter of Clyde and Lucy (Hart) Decker and lived in St. Johns for the last 40 years coming from Flint. She attended Salem United Methodist Church and did volunteer work. 

She is survived by several cousins and a host of friends. 

Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Sowle Cemetery with Pastor Jim Dibbet officiating. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church or Clinton Memorial Hospital. Arrangements by the Osgood Funeral Home.

Margaret Alice June Brink

Margaret Alice June Brink,  Laingsburg, MI Age 74. She was born June 22, 1928 in Laingsburg, MI. She passed away June 21, 2003. She was lovingly cared for by members of Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Laingsburg. She worked for 20 years as a cook at the J&M restaurant in Elsie, and 5 years in Laingsburg at Mahoney's IGA. She was a member of Saint Isidore's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She taught Catechism classes for a number of years. She enjoyed dancing, cooking family activities, camping, traveling, and sporting events. She was Laingsburg Community School's Sports Superfan and loved baking for the teams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Helen Hurst, one son, John Edward, 2 sisters, Mable Bauman and Katherine Wurm, 2 brothers, Raymond Hurst and Clarence Hurst.

She is survived by husband of 56 years, Kenneth J. Brink; 5 daughters, Suzanne (Richard) Hutchings of Pentwater, Kathyleen (James) Joy of Williamston, Roselyn (Douglas) Morrill of Laingsburg, Lisa (Curtis) McGee of Laingsburg, and Kelly Brink of Lansing; 3 sons, Kenneth (Darcy) Brink of Laingsburg, Daniel Brink of Okemos, and Mark (Lisa) Brink of Laingsburg; 23 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, John Hurst of Laingsburg, Harold (Janice) Hurst of Laingsburg, and Jim (Marie) Hurst of Laingsburg.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday 11 A.M. at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Laingsburg with a Rosary Sunday 8 P.M. at the church. Visitation will be on Sunday 7-9 P.M. and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Laingsburg. Vernon R. Williams

Vernon R. Williams graduated to glory on June 18, 2003, at the age of 75. He was born in Clio, Michigan on July 3, 1927, the son of John L. and Ethel B. (Erickson) Williams. He was a retired engineer for General Motors and a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Johns. Vernon married Pearl “Peggy” Hayter on March 5, 1948, 7 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Dearborn, MI and she survives him. 

Also surviving are three children, Rev. Dr. Richard (Carol) Williams of North Salem, Indiana, David Paul (Laura) Williams of Grayling and Patricia (Mark) Lutz of St. Johns, nine grandchildren, Todd Williams, Janalyn (Kevin) Hodges, Elizabeth Williams, Chris (Heather) Williams, Candice Williams, Curt Williams, Danielle Williams, Meghann (Jeremy) Courliss and Nathan Lutz, eight great grandchildren, sister, Kathrine Harrison of Bay City and brother, Robert (LuAnn) Williams of Clio. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 23, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Knaus and Rev. Dr. Richard Williams officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Emmanuel Baptist Church, North Salem, IN, c/o Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI in memory of Vernon.

Margaret L. "Peggy"  Davis

Margaret L. "Peggy"  Davis, Chippewa Lake, MI (Formerly of DeWitt and Lansing, MI) Age 95, passed away on June 18, 2003 in Big Rapids. She was born on January 4, 1908 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harry A. and Lilah M. (Ferguson) Fitzgerald. Mrs. Davis lived most of her life in the DeWitt and Lansing area, spending the past 8 years at Chippewa Lake. She loved to crochet and made many hats for the needy. She also enjoyed cooking for family, friends and St. Mary Cathedral, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Davis and her daughter, Deloris.

She is survived by: sons, Richard (Catherine) Davis of Chippewa Lake and Dennis "Mike" (Elaine) Kibbey of Lansing; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Deacon Richard Stanford officiating. Interment will be DeWitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
