Charles
A. Warner Age 81 of Elsie, Michigan died Monday, July 21, 2003 at his home. At the age of 16, he drove truck for the Elsie Refinery. When he was 18 he began driving a milk truck for Bernard Conklin, hauling milk to many places out of state. He retired in 1987. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Merlin Pratt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. and Wednesday from 2-8 with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. He was born on June 20, 1922 in Elsie, Michigan, the son of Roy E. & Bessie (Dunham) Warner. He graduated from Elsie High School with the Class of 1940. While in High School, he played the clarinet in the school band. He continued his love of music in later life, by listening to and recording live music and attending many dances. On December 18, 1943 he married Doris M. Crippen in Bannister, Michigan. Doris died on May 3, 2000. Charles served in the US Army during WWII from 1943-1946, driving a half-track in the 3rd Army Tank Corp. He was a member of the Elsie American Legion Post #502 for 56 years. He and his family spent many vacations at their cottage that he loved at Lake George, Michigan. He resided in Elsie his entire life. He is survived by his 1 son, Robert & Cathy (Plesko) Warner of St. Johns, MI, son in law, Joseph Johnston of Lake, MI, granddaughters, Nicole & Rachel Warner of St. Johns, Tammie (Johnston) & Tom Wolfe of Waterford, MI, grandsons, Jeffrey Johnston of Lake, MI, and Joseph Johnston who is serving in the US Marines, great-granddaughters, Samantha & Melissa Wolfe, 3 sisters, Erma Warner of Tucson, AZ, Retha & George Day of Elsie, MI, Leota (Stewart) Kajdas of Elsie, MI, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, special friend, Audrey Bancroft of Arcadia, FL, and sister in law, Marie (Crippen) Silha of Tucson, AZ. Charlie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Roy Warner, parents, Asa & Bessie (Warner) Stewart, his wife, Doris of 57 years, a daughter, Barbara (Warner) Johnston, and brother in law, Stanley C. Kajdas. Mrs. Wilcox had been a resident of DeWitt most of her life and was a member of Valley Farms Baptist Church, Lansing. She had 7 sons, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren that have served in the military, past and present. Mrs. Wilcox was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, 1 daughter and 3 sons. Surviving are her daughter, Molly (Charles) Ruble of DeWitt; daughters-in-law, Lucille and Virginia Wilcox; sons, P.R. "Bob" (Jeanne) Wilcox of DeWitt, Dale (Lillian) Wilcox of Florida, Jack Wilcox of DeWitt, Richard (Kitty) Wilcox of Florida and Wayne (Jackie) Wilcox of Lake City; 38 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; 60 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin St., DeWitt, with the Rev. Dave Leisman, of Valley Farms Baptist Church, and Pastor Herbert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt. (Wilson) Osborn, St. Johns, MI Died July 19, 2003 at the age of 88. Born in Jackson, Michigan on September 20. 1914, the daughter of Robert and Emma (Massau) Reakes. She was an exceptional piano player and was locally honored for many hours of volunteer piano playing in nursing homes and for senior citizen groups. She is survived by two sons, Tom (Joyce) Wilson of Pinckney and Jerry (Diane) Wilson of Haslett, two daughters, Betty (Duane) Tellier and Joyce Allen, both of Lansing, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with a very dear friend, Jack Richards officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid Michigan. Joseph Stefanek Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cyrils Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan. Rev Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Joseph was born April 1, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Stephan & Rose (Rajic) Stefanek. On February 14, 1942 he was married to Valeria Jamontas in Chicago, Illinois. Valeria died in 1995. Joseph was a member of St. Cyrils Catholic Church in Bannister and resided most of his life in Chicago and Bannister. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Stefanek of Chicago, Illinois, 1 sister

& nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, 1 son Steve, & 4 brothers.

Born March 18, 1955 in Lapeer County, Michigan the daughter of Antonio Anzures and Antonia Maldonado. Angelita lived most of her life in Fowler and attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She worked at T.R.W. in Portland and as a cook at the Eagle Inn. She is survived by her mother, Antonia Maldonado of Mexico, foster parents, Jerome and Arlene Thelen of Fowler, sons, William Clare (Emily) Kramer and James C. (Becky Turnes) Kramer of Fowler, grandsons, Trenton, Logan and Nathaniel Kramer and granddaughter, Danielle Powers, sisters and brothers, Annie Martin of Fenwick, Germaine Petrick of St. Johns, David and Albert Anzures, Frances Dominguez and Petra Maldonado all of California, Joey Walters and Marina Buckley of Michigan. Angelita was preceded in death by her father, Antonio Anzures and her partner, Clare Kramer. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Cassidy, Laingsburg, MI Born June 23, 1967 in Muskegon, MI, died July 13, 2003 in Iraq at Camp Babylon where he was performing humanitarian services as a U.S. Army Reserve Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Paul was a graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central High School, Ripon College, Ripon, WI and also attended MSU. Paul was assigned to the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion out of Ashwaubenon, WI, a suburb of Green Bay. In 1991 Paul spent six months in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. In 1996, he went to Bosnia for NATO peacekeeping force Operation Joint Endeavor and spent seven months in war-torn Kosovo, Bosnia-Heregovina and Kuwait, where he distributed food and blankets, helped to reconstruct power grids, improve phone lines, provide water and repair houses. Prior to leaving for Iraq in March, Paul was assistant to the Clerk at Meridian Township. He also enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with his wife and young son, Colin, who would light up upon hearing "Daddy's Home!" Surviving are his wife, Susan; son, Colin, 10 months; parents, John & Elizabeth Cassidy of Golden Valley, AZ; in-laws, Wallace & Elaine Haglund of Muskegon; brothers, Michael of Las Vegas & John (Kym) of Grand Rapids; sisters, Patricia Cassidy of Maitland, FL and Jill (Tim) Schneider of Lansing; brother-in-law, David Haglund of Alexandria, VA; sister-in-law, Pam Haglund of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 1000 S. Canal Road, Lansing with Rev. Dr. William Barber and Rev. Dwight Reed officiating. Miller, 74, of DeWitt, died July 12, 2003. He was born June 15, 1929 in Detroit. Mr. Miller was a devoted member of DeWitt Community Church. Throughout his career he was a mechanic, teacher, insurance agent, bus driver, truck driver, radio repairer, refrigeration, and was currently employed as a senior programer/analyst with the Michigan Automotive Compressor in Parma. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved reading, singing and kids. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Crouse. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Dawn M. (Rademacher); three daughters, Laura J. (Tony) Adragna of Warren, Beverly A. (Frank) Stafford of Sterling Heights and Shawna B. (Mark) Bennett of Columbia, Mo.; three grandchildren, Andrew F. and Timothy J. Stafford and Trevor M. Bennett; three sisters, Salina Woodward of Traverse City, Catherine Grech of Rockwall, Texas, and Rita Rose of Macomb; mother of his children, Laura and Beverly, Clara Beatty of Warren. Memorial services were held July 18 at DeWitt Community Church with pastors, Ed Short and Alan Morris, officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Clinton Memorial and Sparrow, P.O. Smith, 65, of West Olive went home to be with his Lord July 1, 2003 at the Hospice House of Mid Michigan in Lansing. He and his wife lived in St. Johns for 30 years. He worked at Federal Mogul in St. Johns for 10 years. He was then employed by West America Securities. He was a co-owner of the Bouchey Monument Company for five years. In 1997, he and his wife managed the West Court Retirement Community in Saginaw. Due to his health decline, they moved to Ludington to live. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sarah Berkhouse Smith; children, Mike and Denise Smith of Ithaca, Jeff and Kris Smith of Lansing, Brenda and Rich Kamins of Holt; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; mother-in-law, Sarah and Art Bouchey of St. Johns; sisters-in-law, Jan and Roger Crowell of St. Johns, and Jo and Tom Glinke of Maple Rapids. Funeral services were held July 3 at the Grace Church of West Ottawa, West Olive with the Rev. Kenneth Gentzler officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Mid-Michigan. Arrangements were by the Notier-Ver Lee-Langeland Funeral Chapel, Holland.
