Scott Steavens Jeffrey Scott Steavens , age 40 of Elsie, Michigan passed away Sunday, November 23, 2003 at his home. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed being outdoors. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cyrils Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. There will also be a Rosary prayed Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Jeffrey was born on October 14, 1963 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Roger M. and Alice A. (Schafer) Steavens. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1981. He was a member of St. Cyrils Catholic Church and resided most of his life in Lansing and Elsie. He is survived by his parents, Roger & Alice Steavens of Elsie, MI, sister, Lori
& Tony Simmon of Chesaning, MI, 2 daughters, Ashley Steavens of Lansing, MI, and
Alicia Steavens of Elsie, MI, grandmother, Viola Schafer of Ovid, MI, 3 nephews,
Christopher, Justin, and Michael, and a favorite Aunt, Leola Walimaki of Elsie, MI. He was
predeceased by 2 grandfathers and 1 grandmother. Memorials may be made to the Charity of
the Donors choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes,
Elsie Chapel. Beatrice Parks died November 24, 2003 at the age of 74. She was born in Traverse City on October 5, 1929, the daughter of James and Gladys Wood. She was a graduate of Traverse City High School, a homemaker and Senior Citizens Drop-In Center employee. Surviving are her daughter, Karen Brooks of Eaton Rapids, sons, James (Angie) Wood of Chehalis, WA, Ed (Becky) Wood of Mecosta and George Parks of Ithaca, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Maxine (Bob) Donick of Traverse City, brothers, Kenneth (Margaret) Wood of St. Johns, Vernon (Faith) Wood of DeWitt, Fred (Millie) Wood of Modesto, CA and Howard (Harriet) Wood of Traverse City. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, sister, Sophie and brother, Junior. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Ovid Healthcare Center. The family wishes to thank Ovid Healthcare Center for their wonderful care. Deward J. "Duke" Christmas, Bath, MI Age 90, died November 24, 2003. Born April 1, 1913 in Carland, MI. Mr. Christmas was a resident of Bath Township for 60 years and retired from General Motors in 1972. He loved gardening, yard work and looked forward to his Wednesday night outings for his lemon pie. Surviving are his 6 daughters, Judy (Stewart) Clise, Pam (Duane) Knapp, Jenny Antes, Nadine Brandt, Nancy Sump and Merry (Mike) Barnhart; 5 sons, Deward G. (Roni), Frank Wesley, Jerry, Terry (Diane) and Wes (Carol); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Great-grandchildren that will dearly miss their shared time with their "granddad", Devon, A.J., Ransom, Spencer, Jessie, Jack, Shaelynn, Owen, Danielle, Emma, Gwenneth, Henry J., Shawna, and Alysha; special caregiver, Marina Stambaugh. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 10 AM at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, with the Rev. Thomas VanDyke, officiating. "Ace" Linman age 71 of St. John, Michigan died Friday, November 21, 2003 at his home. He retired in 1990 as a supervisor for Federal Mogul Corporation, in St. Johns, Michigan. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 25 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Merlin Pratt will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. and Monday from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Ace was born September 20, 1932 in Bannister Michigan the son of Albert and Lillian
(Gimm) Linman. He attended and graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1950. On
July 22, 1953 he married Dora Mae Conklin in Elsie, Michigan. He was a member of the
American Legion Post #153 in St. Johns, Michigan and was a former board member of the
Clinton County Federal Credit Union. He resided most of his life in Elsie and St. Johns. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice in St. Johns, Michigan. The family is

Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Born May 16, 1928, passed away November 21, 2003. At his side were his wife, Eva, of 50 years and his children. Charlie was preceded in death by parents, Albert Spike and Bertha Weber, brothers, Bernard and George Weber. Survived by wife, Eva, children, Lynn & Patty Weber, Sandy Winn, Cathy & Doug Whitford, Dave & Sherry Weber, John & Sandy Weber, Jacque & Roger Daniels, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren & one in the oven, brother, Alan Weber and several nieces & nephews. Charlie married the love of his life, Eva, on January 27, 1953. The two of them established Hub Tire Center in January 1963. Also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Family and friends always came first for Charlie. Some of the many other things he enjoyed were the cottage at Houghton Lake, the many hours of fishing, playing cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed deer hunting at Burning Boot Camp Bunker Hill and The Throne. Charlie loved to travel as far as the road would take him. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. the bucks are trophies. Mabel I. Smith-Langenfeld died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at the age of 89. She was born in Breckenridge, Michigan January 14, 1914 the daughter of William and Lora (Morgan) Bobier. She moved to Lansing in 1935. Mabel retired from the State of Michigan Department of Civil Service after 26 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Oza M. Smith. She married John F. Langenfeld January 12, 1984 and he preceded her in death September 30, 1997. Mabel is survived by one daughter, Darlyn Kohne of Dixon, Montana, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Helena Burk of Lakeland, FL and Eunice Reynolds of Corunna, 2 brothers, Keith Wilson of Owosso and Herbert Wilson of Swartz Creek, many nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by three brothers, Chauncey Bobier and Jack & Kenneth Wilson, dear nieces, Harla Fritsch and Patricia Burk. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. She was born in Gananoque, Ontario, Canada on October 21, 1932, the daughter of Alexander and Edna (Beech) Lloyd. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Linda Scott Group, Womens Fellowship, Baby Pantry and a former member of Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a person who loved her family and would help anyone who needed help. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Marilyn married Robert H. Wood at the First Presbyterian Church in Adrian, Michigan on June 16, 1956, and he survives her. Also surviving are her children Wendy S. (Jim) Pittman of St. Johns, Margaret A. (Mark) Pittman of Dimondale and Douglas R. (Mindy) Wood of Grand Ledge, eight grandchildren, Stephanie Pittman, Monica Pittman, Andrew Pittman, Melissa Pittman, Sarah Pittman, Eric Pittman, Elizabeth Wood and Joseph Wood, mother, Edna Lloyd of Adrian, MI and brother, Gary (Sharon) Lloyd of Wheaton, IL. She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 24, 2003 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Nora M. Spayde died November 18, 2003 at the age of 78. She was born in Lansing, MI on October 14, 1925, the daughter of John Otto and Pearl J. (Hitchcock) Fleming. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ovid, enjoyed bowling, walking, spending time with family and friends at home and in Florida, and loved to dance. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Gerald Spayde, son-in-law, Gary Alvord of Owosso, grandson, Eric Alvord of Ovid, granddaughter, Candi Alvord of Owosso, brothers, Bernard (Bernice) Fleming of Seffner, FL, Guy Fleming of Ovid and John Fleming of Portland, OR, and sisters, Phyllis (Ray) Salisbury of Lansing and Marjorie (Lee) Prevost of Southfield, MI. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Alvord. There will be no services or visitation. Arrangements by the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home, Ovid.
