Irene E. Thelen, Westphalia, MI Age 94, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2003. She was born on January 20, 1909 in Fowler the daughter of Herbert and Theresia (Pung) Armbrustmacher and lived in Westphalia most of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Women's Guild, and the Daughters of Isabella. She married John I. Thelen on April 29, 1930 and together they shared 67 years of marriage until his passing on February 8, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Schafer, grandson, Terry Schafer, sisters, Clara Rademacher and Bernita Nurenberg, brothers, Harold and Clem Armbrustmacher. Surviving are her children, Dolores (Anthony) Martin, Patricia (Edward) Wieber, Bernadette (Richard) Droste, John (Alice) Thelen, all of Westphalia, and Theresa (Casper) Feldpausch of Fowler; son-in-law, Gilbert (Joan) Schafer of Pewamo; 29 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 12, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday and Thursday. The Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 PM both days. Pall Bearers will be Todd Droste, Chad Feldpausch, Kevin Feldpausch, Scott Thelen, Tim Wieber, and Wayne Wieber. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Elwyn J. Aldrich died December 8, 2003, at the age of 67. He was born in Grand Rapids on July 6, 1936, the son of Roswell and Ella May (Henderson) Aldrich. He was a self-employed welding supply salesman representing the Certanium Company and others, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Shepardsville United Methodist Church and S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Elwyn loved to collect toy cars and tractors and was always there to help family and friends. He married Audrey L. Bernath in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 7, 1957, and she survives him. Also surviving are his sons, Glenn Aldrich, Kenneth Aldrich and David (Melissa) Aldrich, six grandchildren, sister, Dorothy (Gordon) Woodworth and brother-in-law, Ed Bernath. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Michael Aldrich. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid with the Rev. Kay Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shepardsville United Methodist Church. Zeno Charles Budd Sr. age 61 of Bancroft, formerly of Ovid Michigan died Friday December 5, 2003 at his home. He was the founder & director of Michigan Property Owners Association. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery in Harrison, Michigan. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Zeno was born in Clare Count Michigan on March 18, 1942 he son of Zeno R. & Ruby E. ( Valmer ) Budd. He graduated from Harrison High School with the class of 1960. Zeno moved to Ovid from Harrison in 1967 where he resided most of his live. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Marines Corp. and was a sharpshooter, serving in Korea; he was especially proud of his grandchildren. Survivors include 1 daughter; Chantelle & Scott Polash of Ashley, Michigan, 3 sons; Zeon Charles Budd, Jr. of Ovid, Michigan, Forrest & Virginia Budd also of Ovid, Michigan and Larry Beachler of Perry, Michigan, 9 Grandchildren; Sheena, Forrest Jr., Erin, Calvin, Julian, Scotlin, Chaz, Chelsea & Alexis. He is also survived by 1 sister; Marilyn Schultz of Dansville, Michigan & 2 brothers; Wilbur & Cheryl Budd of Lansing, Michigan & Jacob & Lois Budd of Harrison, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Wilma Jean. Memorials may be

Elsie Chapel. Nina M. Hart, East Lansing, MI Age 96, passed away December 4, 2003. Born June 30, 1907 in Victor Township, Clinton County, Michigan. Orphaned at an early age, she was raised by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kemp. Former employee of F.N. Arbaugh Co. and Avon Co. Long time member of Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church (former Organist). Her loves were her family and friends, music and playing shuffleboard. Preceded in death by brother, Edwin J. Kemp, sister, Dorothy R., 1 infant daughter. Married to Clifford H. Hart on June 7, 1926 for 77 years who survives her. Twice Nina and Clifford were Prom King and Queen. Surviving is 1 son, Clifford K. Hart (Marge); and daughter, Rosemary J. Watson (J. Tony); 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 1 PM Monday, December 8, 2003 at Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, 301 W. Janes, Sr., 79, retired self-employed carpenter, died Thursday December 4, 2003. Services 11 a.m. today at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Herman A. Fedewa, Portland, MI Age 84, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2003. He was born on July 12, 1919 in Westphalia, the son of Isadore and Anna (Stump) Fedewa. Herman retired from Tri County Electric as manager of Engineering and Operations. He was awarded the Bronze Star crediting him with one of the highest of traditions of Military Service in World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Portland Knights of Columbus Council #2168, and the Portland VFW Post #4090. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roman Fedewa of Lansing. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Catherine of Portland; son, Kurt J. Fedewa of Portland; sister, Loretta Simon of Westphalia; brothers, Anthony Fedewa and Douglas Fedewa, both of Lansing, MI; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Charles D. hall, Pastor at 11 AM Monday, December 8, 2003 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Portland. There will be no funeral home visitation. Herm's wishes are to have a Rosary at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 8 PM Sunday, December 7, 2003. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Helen L. Castle died December 2, 2003 at her winter home in Yantis, Texas at the age of 64. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 23, 1939, the daughter of George and Berneatha (Sypher) Abbott. She was a medical lab technician at Carson City Hospital. She lived life to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. Helen married Victor Castle, Jr. on Rainbow Lake on August 6, 1976 and he survives her. Also surviving are her children, Chuck (Bonnie) Theodore of Lakeside, California and Todd (Ivy) Theodore of Grand Rapids, Jeanine (George) Davis of Grand Rapids, John (Melissa) Shortell of Mansfield Center, Connecticut and Victor (Nancy) Castle, III of Paradise, Texas, five grandchildren, Collin and Nathan Davis of Grand Rapids, Cody Riggle, Dalton and Ryan Castle of Paradise, Texas and one brother, Tom Abbott or Reno, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, burial at Wilsey Cemetery with Rev. Lyle Heaton officiating. (Wagner) Cottenham died December 2, 2003 at the age of 84. She was born in Bengal Township, August 6, 1919, the daughter of Dow and Neva (Parks) Newman. She married Harvey Cottenham in St. Johns on January 13, 1966 and he survives her. Last January they celebrated 37 years of marriage together. Edith was a former co-owner of the IGA Pick-N-Pay in Chesaning. She enjoyed china painting, playing cards, knitting, traveling, going out to eat with her husband, Harvey, and was known for being very strong willed. Also surviving are daughter Karen (Raymond) Fleischer of St. Johns, brothers, Robert (Goldie) Wagner of Kentucky, Terry Wagner of Marion, MI, sister, Elsie Irrer of St. Johns, stepson, John (Carol) Cottenham of Beaverton, MI, twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 5, 2003 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00 11:00 A.M. Friday morning before the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Terrance William Dubendorf, age 60, an Army veteran, retired G.M. factory employee, Christian, horse lover, outdoor sportsman, a loving dad, grandpa and friend, will be sadly missed. Born December 14, 1942, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 2, 2003. Son of William and Lorene (Towne) Dubendorf who lived in the DeWitt and Gladwin areas most of their lives. Surviving are his children, Rhonda Haubert, Terry Lee (Jeanette) Dubendorf, Tonya Dubendorf, all of St. Johns, Chad Dubendorf of Lansing and Clint Dubendorf of Harbor Springs, nine grandchildren, step mother, Rosemary Dubendorf of Florida and his brother, Dennis (Kolene) Dubendorf of Florida.
