Richard J. "Dick"  Reust

Richard J. "Dick"  Reust, DeWitt, MI Age 56, died February 14, 2004. Born July 5, 1947 in Lansing and was a resident of DeWitt most of his life. Dick was with Culligan of DeWitt for 37 years, President of Miller-Reust Enterprises, immediate Past-President, Tri-State Culligan Dealers Association, Past President and current Board Member, Michigan Water Quality Association.

Dick was first elected to the DeWitt City Council for a 4 year term in November 1998. He was subsequently elected to another 4 year term in November 2002. Prior to serving on City Council, Dick served on the City's Local Officers Compensation Commission. As a Council member, Dick served as the Council's Representative to various City Boards and Commissions. His list of assignments included the City's Cable Communications Commission and the Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Commission. He was also a member of the City's Finance Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals. He also served on various ad-hoc committees. Dick was serving his second term as a Board Member for the DeWitt Area Emergency Services Authority. The Authority is responsible for providing fire and emergency medical services to the City and Olive and Riley Townships. Dick and his wife Lynne had the honor of being selected DeWitt's "Citizens of the Year" for 2003 for their dedication, commitment and generosity to the greater DeWitt community. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine.

Surviving are his wife, Lynne; sons, Richard (Kollette) Reust of Lansing and Chad (special friend, Sandy) Reust of DeWitt; step-daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Pulice-Browers of DeWitt; step-son, T.J. Pulice of South Dakota; 6 grandchildren, Dillon, Dalton, Devin, Trever, Dagan and Tyler; 3 brothers, Tom (Shelly) of DeWitt, Doug (Patricia) of Australia and Bob (Karen) of St. Johns; 2 sisters, Ann (Paul) Rademacher of Portland and Cathy Reust of Lansing.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 21, 10 AM at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge Street, DeWitt with the Rev. Dwight Ezop, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin, DeWitt for a memorial visitation Friday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 in memory of Dick.

Alberta H. Huhn

Alberta H. Huhn, died Friday, February 13, 2004 at the age of 92. She was born in Clinton County on November 16, 1911 the daughter of Albert and Lulu (Hamilton) Berlin. Alberta was a member of the Pilgrim United Methodist Church, Wacousta Willing Workers Circle, Wacousta Eastern Star #133, Clinton County Historical and Genealogical Society, D.A.R., and retired from Michigan State University in 1979 as a cafeteria line server at Case Hall. She married Arnold Huhn in Lansing on April 20, 1935 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1976.

Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Daniher of Owosso, Suzanne (Larry) Churches of St. Johns, one son, David (Judy) Huhn of St. Johns, nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one sister, Brownie Locher of DeWitt, two sisters-in-law, Marion Schneider of Portland and Anna Huhn of Pewamo.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns with Pastor Merlin Pratt officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 on Sunday and 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 on Monday. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim United Methodist Church or Hazel Findlay Manor-Activities Fund.

Maurice Judd Paine

Paine-Maurice.jpg (6962 bytes)Maurice Judd Paine died Friday, February 13, 2004 at the age of 79.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was born at his parents home in Gratiot County, Michigan on April 6, 1924, the son of Maxwell and Hazel (Van Sickle) Paine.  Maurice served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.  He graduated from Central Michigan University with a BA in Education.  He was a teacher, a farmer, Fulton Township Clerk and served the community for many years as a member of the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church.   Maurice was also a life member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.   He married Lucille M. Abbott on March 27, 1944 and she survives him after nearly 60 years of marriage. 

He is also survived by three children, Marilyn (Chuck) Brookes, Diane (Bob) Dillon and Tom (Anne) Paine, 12 grandchildren, Ryan (Stacy) Brookes, Jen (Dave) Macartney, Rob (Kristy) Dillon, Krista Dillon, Effie Paine, Josh (Tara) Paine, Jessica, Michael, MariLynn, Rebekah, Jonathan and Jake Paine, 3 great grandchildren, Emma Macartney, Kylie Schatz and Ashton Dillon and his sister Betty Williams.  

Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church, burial at Payne Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating.  Visitation will be 9:00-9:00 Monday at the Abbott Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Maple Rapids with the family present 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 on Monday.  Memorials may be made to Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church.

Rose Mary (Motz) Lindemann

Rose Mary (Motz) Lindemann,  Lansing, MI Age 93-The angels came on February 12, 2004 to take our sweet, loving Rose to be with her Lord Jesus and husband Edwin G. Lindemann, who preceded her in death in 1985 following 54 years of blessed marriage. Rose was born January 14, 1911 in Fowler, MI. Ed and Rose owned and operated Lindemann's Meat Market(s) on E. Main St. and E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing. They were active members of The Church of the Resurrection Parish and for over 50 years spearheaded the cooking of the Resurrection Ox Roast.

Rose is survived by her 7 sons, Gerald, Larry (Marilyn), Daniel, Clair, Patrick (Mary), John and David Lindemann; 5 daughters, Dorothy (Bruce) Ely, Theresa (Joseph) Cordes, Bernadette Traiger of Lawrence, Kansas, Paulette (Kenneth) Harris and Yvonne (Wayne) Belbeck; brother, Brother Isaac Mark Motz CSC of Notre Dame, IN; sister, Sister Lucia Motz of Racine, WI; 50 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were 4 beloved family members, daughters-in-law, Helen and Merry Lindemann, son-in-law, George Traiger and granddaughter, Connie Cordes. Rose will be remembered for her devotion to God, family and friends, her kind and giving heart, her strength and her warm, beautiful smile.

The Funeral Mass will be concelebrated by Fr. William J. Koenigsknecht and Fr. Francis T. Martin at 10 AM, Monday, February 16, 2004 at The Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E. Michigan Ave. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St. from 2-4 PM Saturday, and from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the Resurrection Parish.

Ronald L. Rose

Ronald L. Rose,  a former landscaper, was born in Carson City, Michigan on Nov. 11, 1955. Died on Feb. 12, 2004 of natural causes and resided in Bannister, MI.  There will be no visitation.  Services by Smith Family Funeral Homes.
