Lynwood R. Vincent

Vincent-Lynwood.jpg (6565 bytes)Lynwood R. Vincent died March 2, 2004 at the age of 54. He was born in Owosso on July 2, 1949, the son of Ashley and Vera (Varco) Vincent. He was a retired Fisher Body employee, was a collector of Massey-Harris tractors, enjoyed going to tractor shows and auctions, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He married Maybelle “May” Coffey in St. Johns on October 31, 1997 and she survives him. 

Also surviving are his daughter, Gaylynn (Larry) Seibert of St. Johns, son, Jesse Vincent of Arkansas, step-son, George Pahl of Owosso, two special grandchildren, Jacob and Ashlyn Seibert, two sisters, Joyce (Don) Babcock of Dimondale and Margaret (Harold) Morence of Laingsburg, three brothers, Richard (Wanda) Vincent of West Branch, Leon (Mary) Vincent of Owosso and LeRoy Vincent of Ovid, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Carla Pahl. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, with burial at Fairfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to family wishes.

Laurina C.  Thelen

Laurina C.   Thelen, Westphalia, MI Age 83, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on February 29, 2004. Born February 28, 1921 in Westphalia to John and Ida (Thorne) Smith, Laurina married the love of her life, Walter in 1941. She was actively involved in the farm business she shared with her husband for 62 years. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2003. Laurina had a special love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to garage sales and enjoying fishing and other activities with them. She was adept at quilt making, crocheting, and other crafts and presented many of these as gifts to her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and Christian Mothers' Society. She was predeceased by her parents, granddaughter, Courtney, brothers, Herbert Smith, Hilary Smith, Leonard Smith, Frank Smith and sister, Catherine Thelen.

She is survived by her children, Roy (Janet) Thelen, Bernard R. (Martha) Thelen, Jerome (Cindy) Thelen, and Duane Thelen, all of Westphalia and daughter, Marilyn (Robert) Huhn of Pewamo; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Rita Thelen, Pauline Feldpausch, Roseline (Lester) Feldpausch, Agnes (Edwin) Schomisch, Adeline (Bernard) Feldpausch; brother, Melvin (Dorothea) Smith; brothers-in-law, Norman and Sylvester Thelen; and sisters-in-law, Joan and Agnes Thelen.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 4, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia, MI, with the Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday and Wednesday. The Rosary will be prayed at 3 and 8 PM both days. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Fr. Al Miller Education Trust Fund or St. Mary's ARK in memory of Laurina C. Thelen. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.

Howard Woodbury

Woodbury-Howard.JPG (7806 bytes)Howard E. Woodbury, Johns, MI Age 75, died Friday, February 27, 2004. He was born in St. Johns, MI on September 8, 1928 to Lee and Mildred (Gregory) Woodbury. Howard was a proud third generation florist and owner of Woodbury Flower Shop, a business he has passed on to his son and grandson. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved music, fly fishing, hunting and playing cards. Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jean.

He is survived by his wife, Marceda (Harper) "Markie" Woodbury, two sons Wayne (Diana) Woodbury and Brian (Maralyn) Woodbury all of St. Johns, two daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Hambleton of Lansing and Marie (Chuck) Bengel of Williamston, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one brother, Norman (Janet) Woodbury of Florida, one sister, Frances Greene of Massachusetts, sister-in-law, Betty Wilbur of St. Johns, and Markie's children, Thomas (Caroll) Harper of Engadine, David (Diane) Harper and Dean Harper of St. Johns and Linda (Lloyd) Shobe of Arizona, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Zimmerman officiating. The family will receive friends 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 Sunday and Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Pilgrim United Methodist Church.

Mildred P. Atkinson

Mildred P. Atkinson, age 88, passed away February 27, 2004. Born March 21, 1915, to Roy  and Zoa (Bare) Dutcher and lived her entire life in Bingham Township as a farmers wife. She married Lloyd Atkinson on December 18, 1937, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1988. She was a 50-year member of the Radiant Chapter #79 of the Order of Eastern Star-St. Johns, a member of the First Congregational Church, a former member of the Bingham Grange, Clinton County Pomona Grange, State and National Grange and the Farm Bureau. 

Mildred will be fondly remembered by her many friends. 

Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday, March 1, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at South Bingham Cemetery with Rev. Matt Olson officiating. Friends will be received 6-8 P.M. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to Hazel Findlay Manor.

Frank   Dudash, Jr.

dudash.jpg (6837 bytes)Frank A. Dudash, age 49 of Elsie, Michigan passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 P.M. Rosary will be prayed Friday at 6:00P.M.

Frank was born on May 2, 1954 in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Frank P. & Irona ( Beck ) Dudash Sr. He attended Ovid – Elsie High School. He resided most of his life in the Elsie area. Frank served his country in the US Army. He was a carpenter and ran a backhoe business. Frank was an excellent mechanic who could repair anything. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and any type of racing especially NASCAR. He attended St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan.

He is survived by his 6 children; Carla, Jody, Trisha, Beth, Wendy & Todd, one grandchild Kayla, his father and stepmother Frank & Jean Dudash of Elsie, Michigan, his sister Teresa & Troy Reeves of Ohio, his aunt Frances Surdenik of Elsie, Michigan, his partner Nancy Christiansen and her children Bryan & Scott and grandchild Blake, and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Irona.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
