George L. Morehouse
George L. Morehouse died May 22, 2004 at the age of 77. He was born in Ovid on
August 14, 1926, the son of Melbourne and Hattie (Lane) Morehouse. He retired from
Oldsmobile in 1983 as a carpenter after 30 years of service, served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II and the U.S. Army from 1950-1953, was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his daughters, Nora Morehouse of Williamston, MI, Susan Kline of Flint,
MI and Shirley Perich of Ann Arbor, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two
brothers, Bill Morehouse of Owosso, MI and Darrell (Edith) Morehouse of Arlington, TX and
two sisters, Dorris Anderson of Ovid and Frances (Dale) Martin of Arlington, TX.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Houghton Chapel of
the Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Jeffrey
Heimsoth officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the
funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sparrow Hospice.
Clarence LeVeck Jr.
Clarence
LeVeck Jr., 54, formerly of St. Johns, retired Con Rail railroad conductor, died
Thursday May 20, 2004.
Time of
Remembrance 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St.
Johns.
Marguerite E. Gove
Marguerite E. Gove died May 20,
2004 at the age
of 94. She was born in Clinton County on July 6,
1909, the
daughter of Wallace and Harriet (Hyde) Mesler. She was a retired teacher, a graduate of County Normal teaching
in many of the one-room schools in Clinton County.
Marguerite married Gerald V. Gove in Maple Rapids on March 10,
1935 and he preceded her in death on March 2,
2000.
Surviving
are her sons, Bruce Gove of Lansing and Ralph (Priscilla) Gove of St. Johns, daughters,
Norma (Richard) Crowell, Donna (John) Ballinger, all of St. Johns, Shirley
Hermes of Grand Ledge and Ruby (Richard) Parkkonen of Indian River, 16 grandchildren and
25 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her great
grandson Michael Stebbins and brother Leon Mesler.
Funeral
services will be 2:30 P.M.
Sunday,
May 23, 2004 at the Osgood
Funeral Home, burial at
Lowe Cemetery with
Pastor Jim Dibbet officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday
at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lowe United Methodist Church or the
American Cancer Society.
Cyril E. Tremblay
Cyril E. Tremblay died May 20,
2004, at the
age of 89. He was born in Bay County, MI on May 21,
1914, the son
of Thomas and Phoebe (Pixley) Tremblay. He was a retired Plant Manager for Michigan Milk
Producers Association, was a member of the United Church of Ovid, a charter member of the
Lions Club and the Club of Ovid. Cyril married Vera Jones in Swartz Creek on June 16,
1937.
He
is survived by his devoted wife, Vera, daughter, Ruth Ann (Page) Hilton of Saginaw, son,
Gary (Kaoru) Tremblay of St. Johns, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brother,
Howard (Lavina) Tremblay of Flint, sister-in-law, Irma Tremblay of Jackson and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Uly and Ranald Tremblay.
Funeral
services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday,
May 22, 2004 at the
United Church of Ovid, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev.
Rob McPherson officiating. The family will receive friends 2-5 and 7-9 Friday at
the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood
Funeral Homes, Ovid.
