Edwin Stambersky

stambersky.jpg (5513 bytes)Edwin Stambersky age 89 of Bannister, Michigan died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Carson City Hospital in Carson City, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate with burial at Eureka Cemetery in Eureka, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. & Wednesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Ed was born in Ashley, Michigan on March 3, 1915 the son of Edwin & Frances ( Vanecek ) Stambersky. He graduated from Bannister High School with the class of 1928. Ed married Isabelle Wilcox, who predeceased him in 1966. On February 4, 1984 he married Jean Durocher who predeceased him on May 17, 2003. He famed and worked for Federal Mogul in St. Johns until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Bannister United Methodist Church. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Mark Daniels VFW Post 1735 Perrinton, Michigan. He was a social member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 in Bannister, Michigan. Ed enjoyed gardening and fishing and watching and feeding birds and wildlife. He resided most of his life in the Bannister area.

He is survived by 1 sister Mary & Ervin Hilborn of Lansing, MI, 2 brothers, Stanley & Florence Stambersky of Howell, MI, Michael & Wilma Stambersky of Bannister, MI, many nieces and nephews, 4 step-daughters, Mildred Shively of Dallas, TX, Linda & Ivan Robinson of Ithaca, MI Vonette Dolloff of Ithaca, MI, Dayna & Alfred Page of Ithaca, MI, 1 step-son James Rooksberry of Roanoke, VA, many step-grandchildren and his dog and beloved companion Sparky. He is predeceased by his parents and 7 brothers.

Memorial may be made to ZCBJ Lodge #225, Bannister, MI. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Thomas J. Horvath

Thomas J. Horvath died June 1, 2004 at the age of 70. He was born in Lansing on September 19, 1933. He was a retired machinist for General Motors and a member of the U.A.W.

Surviving are his sons, Tom (Jenny) Horvath of St. Johns, Ray (Brenda) Horvath, Carl (Crystal) Horvath, John Horvath, all of Jackson and Jerry Horvath of Lansing, eight grandchildren, beloved brother, Daniel Horvath of DeWitt and other brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Albert E. Craun

Albert E. Craun,  Wacousta, MI Age 90, passed away May 29, 2004 in St. Johns, MI. Mr. Albert Craun was a retired employee of Motor Wheel after 35 years of service, member of the Wacousta-DeWitt Masonic Lodge #359 F. & A.M., Wacousta Chapter #133 O.E.S., Royal Arch of Grand Ledge and the Wacousta Community United Methodist Church. He was a charter volunteer for the Pony League, very active with the Boy Scouts and an avid fisherman and woodworker.

He is survived by his 1 daughter, Nancy (Terry) Saxton of Beaver Island; 6 sons, Ronald (Lucille) of Mesick, Dick (Susan) of Olivet, Lyle of Lansing, Terry of Las Vegas, NV, Frank (JoAnne) of Vermontville, Thomas (Debbie) of Jacksonville, FL; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Aladine Craun of Lansing. And was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Olive and son, Tony A.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 4, 2004, 11 AM at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Rev. Tom Peters officiating, along with O.E.S. services to be conducted by the Wacousta Chapter #133 O.E.S. Interment will follow at Wacousta Cemetery, Watertown Twp., Clinton Co. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday, 7-9 PM with Masonic services to be conducted by the Wacousta-DeWitt Masonic Lodge #359 F. & A.M. beginning 7:30 PM Thursday evening. For those desiring, contributions may be made to the Hazel Finlay Country Manor or the Wacousta-DeWitt Masonic Lodge #359 Educational Fund.

Darcy G. Cramer

Cramer-Darcy.jpg (7830 bytes)Darcy G. Cramer, age 81, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at his home. He was born April 25, 1923 in St. Johns, MI to Cecil E. and Ivah M. (Wagner), lived all his life in the St. Johns area and retired from F. C. Mason Tool & Die as a press operator. Darcy was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith Dawn Hill and Jean Ostrowski and four brothers, Cecil Keith, Burton Keene, Richard Ralph, and Rex Cramer.

Darcy is survived by two brothers; Bruce (Karen) Cramer and Jack Cramer both of St. Johns; a special cousin, Lillian LaRue; his two dogs, Tippy and Princess and his cat, Smokey.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday 11:00 A.M. June 3, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns. The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Duane E. Miller

Duane E. Miller died May 28, 2004 at the age of 75. He was born in Owosso on September 3, 1928, the son of Ernest and Louise (Zuckschwerdt) Miller. He was a retired First Sergeant with the U.S. Army.

Surviving is his sister, Carole (Edwin) George of St. Johns, nephew, Chris (Kathy) George of St. Johns, nieces, Darcy George, Alana Johnson, all of St. Johns, and Jenesse (Bill) Coleman of Pompeii and eight great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Darlene Miller.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Osgood Funeral Home. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society.

Hazel D. Palmer

Hazel D. Palmer died May 28, 2004 at the age of 87.  Born in Chanute, Kansas October 4, 1916, the daughter of Archie Guy and Mary Mae (McCall) Sevy and lived in Michigan and Florida most of her life.  She married Tolly Palmer August 30, 1957 and he preceded her in death in December of 1974.

In addition to her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Austin in 1988 and two sisters, Gladys Dush and Dorothy Winiarski.   

There will be no visitation or funeral services as Hazel’s wishes were to be cremated.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John A. Krzeminski, Jr

John A. Krzeminski, Jr.,  Westphalia, MI Age 26, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. He was born on April 4, 1978 in Lansing, MI the son of John A. and Dolores A. (Israel) Krzeminski. John was a 1996 graduate of Pewamo Westphalia High School and a 2003 graduate of Ferris State University holding a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He currently worked at Bekum Industries in Williamston, MI. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Westphalia Knights of Columbus St. Jude Thaddeus Council #2890. He enjoyed working on his car, sports of all types and computers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Krzeminski, grandfather, George Israel.

Surviving are his parents, John and Dolores Krzeminski of Westphalia; brother, Kevin Krzeminski; grandmother, Jamilee Israel of St. Clair Shores, MI; fiancee, Melissa Bebout of Hubbardston; her parents, Richard and Jennifer Bebout of Hubbardston; her brother, Tom Bebout; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia with Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday and Monday. The Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 PM both days. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.

Joseph Pospisil

Funeral Services will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. Rev Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt & Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held Friday, May 28, 2004 from 2-8 with family present from 2-6 & 2-8 at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Scripture Service will be Friday at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Joe was born on February 7, 1916 in Gratiot County, Michigan the son of John & Anna ( Bannar ) Pospisil. He was married to Lillian Konecny on November 17, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso, Michigan. Lillian died on May 22, 1986. He was retired from Fisher Body and he also farmed. Joe enjoyed gardening, farming, and hunting. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church. He was also a member of ZCBJ Lodge of Bannister, Michigan and he attended the Eagles Lodge in Owosso, Michigan. He resided all of his life in the Elsie & Bannister areas.

He is survived by his daughter Shirley & Robert Kalocy of Elsie, MI, 3 grandchildren, Richard & Natasha Kalocy of Kalamazoo, MI, Kelly Kalocy of Elsie, MI, and Kimberly Kalocy of Elsie, MI, 1 great granddaughter Katelyn Kalocy of Elsie, MI, 3 sisters, Bessie Homister of Saranac, MI, Mary Jones of Owosso, MI, Frances Nowak, Flushing, MI and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, 1 sister Lillian, twin brothers, Frank & Charles and special nephew John Pospisil.

Memorial may be made to St. Cyril's Catholic Church or ZCBJ Lodge. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel

Arden B. "Red" Isbell

Arden B. "Red" Isbell,  Lansing, MI Died May 26, 2004 at 90 years of age. A lifelong resident of the Lansing area, Arden was born May 6, 1914 in Clinton County, Michigan, the third of four children of Mildred (Price) and George Isbell. He served in the U.S. Army medical corps in New Guinea during WWII. For 38 years, Red was a draftsman for the Michigan Department of Transportation; among his duties, he drew the official state highway map, used by millions of motorists. His favorite recreation was playing drums, and he was a long -time drummer in the Leo Balcer Band and many other local bands. A quiet man, Arden was an avid walker and liked riding his bicycle. Arden (Red) enjoyed living at Ingham Regional Assisted Living where he met and made many friends and wonderful memories over the last 9 months. We wish to thank everyone at Ingham Regional Assisted Living for the wonderful care he received his last nine months.

Red was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Majel; his brothers, Clifford and Donald (Bud); and his wife of 54 years, Georgia (Lott). He is survived by their daughter, Mary Jo (Don) Mercer, and three grandchildren, Wendy Mercer of Annandale, VA, Robert (Lisa) Mercer of Glendale, AZ, and Thomas Mercer of Scottsdale, AZ.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Msgr. George Michalek officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
