Carolyn Ann Walling Born in Battle Creek, Michigan on Mar. 12, 1940. Departed on Jun. 19, 2004 and resided in St. Johns, MI. Connie L. Eyer died June 23, 2004 at the age of 55. She was born in Carson City on June 15, 1949, the daughter of Thomas and Joan (Auer) Aungst. She was an RN at Carson City Hospital. Connie married Danny Eyer in Maple Rapids on May 2, 1970 and he survives her. Also surviving are her son, Robert Eyer of Hubbardston, daughter, Kelly Billings of Maple Rapids, grandson, Josh Eyer of Perrinton, mother and step-father, Joan and Basil Davis of Maple Rapids and step-brothers, Tom Davis of Ithaca and Scott (Deb) Davis of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Aungst and sister, Della LaLonde. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Josephine J. Parmenter died June 23, 2004 at the age of 80. She was born in Ovid Township, MIon August 21, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Mina (Jones) Secord. Josephine married Richard Parmenter on April 18, 1955 and he survives her. Also surviving are her children, George (Patty) Sills of Laingsburg, Josephine "Josie" Squibb of Lansing, Genevieve "Genny" Keener and special friend, Dave Ritter, of St. Johns, Richard (Jodi) Parmenter, Jr. and Wayne Parmenter, all of St. Johns, daughter-in-law, Sandy Sills of Lansing, three step-children, Laura (Randy) Schmidt of St. Johns, Maureen Parmenter of Detroit and Dan (Pat) Parmenter of Lansing, twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and brother, George (Colleen) Secord of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her son, James Samuel Sills, III, granddaughter, Tamecha Nelms, great granddaughter, Alexis Elaine Kieffer, sister, Marion Case and two brothers, Harry Eugene Wareham and Robert Secord. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Bob Prange officiating. The family will receive friends 9 A.M. 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to Ovid Healthcare Center. Thomas J. Bosquette, age 97, died Saturday, June 19, 2004 in Ovid, MI. Tom was born February 28, 1907 in Wayne County, Mi to Thomas and Lena (Case) Bosquette, lived most of his life in the St. Johns area and retired from Federal Mogul in 1972 after 30 years of service. Tom was married in St. Johns, December 16, 1961 to Louie (Bush) Higgins who preceded him in death August 29, 1991. He is survived by four step-children, William L. Higgins, Virginia Blackmer, George (Margaret) Higgins and Eugene (Rusty) Higgins all of St. Johns; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns, MI with the Pastor Dwight Sheltrown officiating. Interment will follow in Reed Cemetery, Laingsburg. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday from 6:00 8:00 P. M. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Clinton Memorial Hospital in memory of Tom.
H. Ileen Cleveland, age 86, died Saturday, June 19, 2004 in Ovid, MI. Ileen was born November 4, 1917 in Perry, MI the daughter of Ernest and Hattie (Leech) Goen and was a member of the Mint City First Free Methodist Church. On April 16, 1945, Ileen married Myron "Dave" Cleveland who preceded her in death February 14, 1984. She is survived by four sons, Douglas (Sylvia) Jones of Vicksburg, David (Sandra) Cleveland of St. Johns, Jon (Kathleen) Cleveland of Holt and Thomas (Valerie) Cleveland of Kalamazoo, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Dave, Ileen was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Gregory, Anna Cleveland and Bessie Bradish and her half-brother, George Allen. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns, MI with the Reverend Tom Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Duplain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Tuesday 6:00 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 P.M. May Born in Hebron Twp. on October 24, 1914, the daughter of Marquis and Mina (Perrow) Barcelow. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. Louise married Howard C. May in Lansing on June 16, 1930 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1976. She is survived by one daughter, Agnes (Earl) Moriarty of St. Johns, three sons, Joseph H. (Carol) May of Holt, Robert M. (Arlene) May of Reed City, and Gary L. (Cherrie) May of St. Johns, several grandchildren, many great grandchildren, two sisters in law, Eleanor ONeil of Grand Ledge and Neva Barcelow of Arizona. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy M. "Dottie" May, two infant daughters, Majel & Patricia, one infant son, Joseph, one grandson, David May, two sisters, Amelia O'Connor and Madrina VanNest, and five brothers, Joseph Barcelow, Frank Barcelow, Constance Barcelow, and Donald and Edward O'Neil. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of St. Johns. Burial at Ford Cemetery with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5 P.M. Monday and Tuesday at the Osgood Funeral Home. Morna Elizabeth Young, née Hayes Morna Elizabeth Young, née Hayes, 77, of Tempe, Arizona, died June 11, 2004 after a courageous one-year battle with bronchoalveolar carcinoma. Daughter of Harold L. and Marvel Hayes and a native of St. Johns, she graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1944, attended Michigan State University, and spent her career in government service and, later, as a realtor and title coordinator.Widowed from Richard D. Young in 1971, she is survived by siblings, Roderick D. Hayes and Sharon Rude, both of southern California, and son, Brian B. Young of Tempe. Morna was politically active and supported a number of causes from animal welfare to school reform. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary; services and interment to be held in southern California at a later date. Sandra K. "Sandy" Seibert died June 16, 2004 at the age of 63. She was born in St. Johns on April 30, 1941, the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Fraker) Rademacher. She was a home care provider. Surviving are her children, Henry (Tammy) McQueen of Lancaster, South Carolina, Candace (Yoge) Gleason of Maple Rapids, Rosanne (Todd) Thelen of St. Johns and Bob (Ann) Seibert of Maple Rapids, eleven grandchildren, one great grandson, two brothers and special friend, Loretta "Billie" Ball, whom she cared for 19 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Timothy E. MacDonald officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Donald M. Alvord died Sunday, March 7, 2004 at the age of 83. He was born on January 26, 1921, in Durand, Michigan the son of Hiram Emery and Shirley Belle (Prine) Alvord. He was a retired inspector from the former Sealed Power Corporation in St. Johns and former Roscommon County Probate & Family Court transporter. Donald was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion having served in the US Army during WWII, as well as volunteering with the Roscommon County Search and Rescue. He married Marie Pauline Eisler on January 23, 1943 and she preceded him in death February 1, 1998 after 55 years of marriage. Donald is survived by one son, Gary Alvord of Owosso, one daughter, Monica Stechschulte of Dayton, Ohio, son-in-law, Raymond Pope of St. Johns, five grandchildren, Theresa (Phillip) Benson, David (Heather) Pope, Eric Alvord, Candi Alvord and Cathie (Tom) Webb, 6 great grandchildren, Logan and Blake Benson, Jessica Estes, Ryan Halteman, Jacob and Luke Pope. Donald also has 2 sisters, Helen (Walter) Horn of Houghton Lake and Lydia Gaguna of Saginaw and one brother, Arnold (Merle) Alvord of Grand Rapids. In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Pope, daughter-in-law, Rita Alvord and one brother, E.J. Alvord. Memorial-Military Graveside Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. Military graveside services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Roscommon County Search and Rescue. Arrangements by Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Frederick "Rick" Staples age 49 died April 20, 2004. He was born June 7, 1954 in St. Johns, the son of William and Stephne (Reeve) Staples. He was a beekeeper and former sexton at Reed Cemetery. Surviving are is his mother, Stephne Staples of St. Johns, brothers, David Staples of Austin, TX, Gregory Staples of Ovid, Richard (Vickie) Staples of Framingham, MA, Russell Staples of Milledgeville, GA, sister, Madelyn (Quentin) Robinson of Holland, Manitoba, eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. A Memorial Service will be 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Grove Bible Church with Rev. Quentin Robinson officiating.
